Weekend At The Park

This post is not so specifically fashion related but New York’s parks are so alive in the summer that it is hard not to spend a day just shooting the energy of life. This guy walks around Washington Square Park wearing not much more than a pair of very tiny, ripped jean shorts. He tells anyone that will listen that he is a “Naturalist” – he rejects anything from the modern world. He then offers to give you his website address so you can learn more – website?….ok Mr. Anti-Modern

Really, these photos are just breathtaking. I’ve been a runner since track in high school…and I have a real penchant for photos taken while people are at play.

The top three photos are really spectacular. The first photo hit me in the gut…I think it’s very viceral. The second photo rivals anything I saw in the Detroit editorial in W…and the Naturalist…I’d listen to his rantings anyday.

The last phoyograph. The fountain. Did you do anything special for the setup? under/overexpose and then re-focus the shot?
Really love how it captures the essence of the moment.

I really like the first shot in this series. Lovely composition with the fence detail.

The last shot is so dramatic – beautiful.

Hey, just wanted to tell you I think you take great photographs, which really separates your site from a lot of the other sites ‘inspired’ by you. and your fashion shots always somehow manages to exlude a sense of classiness!

Haha, the Naturalist guy is like a walking oxymoron. But a lovable one, without question.

I’ve just spent the last few minutes mesmerized by the picture of the guy playing handball. It’s amazing to see the structure of the human body – and the energy of the shot is incredible.

These are gorgeous photographs. I don’t know what it is, exactly. It’s not the framing but you capture NYC in the summer beautifully. Have you experimented with other camera formats?
