This video is fantastic! I love the interviews, the fact that it is in black and white, the music, and I especially love what a woman said about you: you are making celebrities out of people who are just living their lives, getting up in the morning and getting dressed.
I would love to see more video like that!

I have to admit that I was just mesmerised, that I didn’t even notice that the video was in Black and White. The music my favourite tunes. I love what everyone had to say. Great video and would love to see more!

I agree with every lovely thing other people have said about the video. It’s interesting how a film like this–with so many beautiful interesting people having a great time–might inspire envy, but it doesn’t. It just attests to your power to draw people together, to create a community. I don’t ever feel like I am outside of the world that you are taking pictures of Scott. You, Garance, the people you take pictures of, and the people who comment on your site (and I have my favorites–Sevan! and a number of others I always look for!) always draw me in, engage me, make me feel welcome and inspired. Thank you!

I love the site, and I love Billie Holiday, but the music makes the video a little schmaltzy. I’ve heard similar music in other Sartorialist videos, and it had a similar effect on me. Clothing is already such a romantic topic – the song seems to overdo it.

Thanks for giving your subjects a chance to speak–and thanks to Ni’ma and all for sharing their thoughts! As Maria (from Cambridge) says, one of the nicest things about this blog is the sense that we get to engage a bit with others’ worlds.

At the risk of stating the obvious, but I find the whole gentleman touch – elegance – good manners – almost demure behaviour of the people in the video at least as refreshing as the way they dress.
Hopefully, hopefully this renaissance of modesty and politeness will become ‘de rigeur’ everywhere.

    And what a beautiful video.

Quite remarkable, really. I’ve always found your photos to be intriguing, but the videos are enchanting. From cinematography to subject to soundtrack, we are transported to a different time; an aspirational lifestyle; a dream of how things should be. Job well done.

Oh, Mr. Schuman… You are one true gentleman, and nowadays that is truly something. That last image of you kissing what I’m guessing is Garance’s hand is just surreally beautiful… I’ve loved this video as much as you said I would. Thank you for it, for the black on white proof of my meeting you that’s spread on the first page of my copy of ‘Closer’, and for everything.
