Who is this woman? She has the face of a Cubist painting, like she stepped right out of Picasso's Les Demoiselles d'Avignon, and went straight to Comme des Garcons to get dressed.

NOT a fan at all. The ostrich?? bag is nice. It looks like super soft leather. That's the only nice thing I can say about this one.

Gorgeous face, heinous haircut. And that jacket isn't doing her any favors, unless she's hiding a baby bump behind that bag.

Can't wait to dig out my old Prada laceup oxfords.

  32. Ganymede Girl

    October 27, 2009 at 3:25 pm

Not feeling the haircut, but dig the bag. Perhaps that sort of haircut is a love it or hate it thing.

  33. Anonymous

    October 27, 2009 at 3:28 pm

I just don't like the way the jacket and high-water, pegged pants make this person look like a pear. The bag makes me drool and I can almost see the haircut, although it's strange, too. I do like the head-on look – confidence!

-where can I find this jacket ?

  35. Shveik

    October 27, 2009 at 3:53 pm

Now that's an obviously pretty girl, who made a great and not easy job to make herself look like a quite handsome but maybe a bit too effeminate boy. Question is – what for? Not in my taste.

  37. Deanna

    October 27, 2009 at 3:57 pm

The cut-away of the jacket combined with the taper in the pants makes her middle look like humpty dumpty (or like she's pregnant.) I like the individual pieces, and her haircut certainly makes her unique looking, but i find the overall silhouette to be pretty unflattering.

  38. sofiasophie

    October 27, 2009 at 4:08 pm

    strange beauty!
    inspiring anyway…..

  39. Questioner

    October 27, 2009 at 4:08 pm

Really love the jacket and the bag.

But who thinks that tapered pants are good? She has thin hips, so they're not so bad on her. But anyone with hips (and not just heavy people) end up with that unattractive ice cream cone silhouette. Don't we remember the 80's and 90's?

And her face is so beautiful, but that haircut is so severe.

  40. Chiara

    October 27, 2009 at 4:19 pm

    gosh I love that jacket!

  41. Katie

    October 27, 2009 at 4:21 pm

You've have got to be bold to rock that hair cut. I adore her.

  42. Tanya

    October 27, 2009 at 4:49 pm

Let's look at this outfit as just a really interesting outfit. Not as one worn by a female or male. I think she is exceptional. I would compliment her on the street. She also really seems like she doesn't care what anyone thinks, good or bad. Love.

  43. couldihavethat

    October 27, 2009 at 4:50 pm

I'm so confused. But I love the bag!

  44. Anonymous

    October 27, 2009 at 4:54 pm

She's eye-catching, but mostly because 1) it takes (at least) a double-take to identify her gender; and 2) the whole ensemble is so freakin strange. Love the bag, but don't like the high stance on the jacket, pegged pants, ugly shoes, or the unflattering bowl cut. But I've got to hand it to her; it takes a lot of guts to walk out of the house with this look!

  45. Anna

    October 27, 2009 at 4:56 pm

What an interesting look! I dig the androgynous thing, but I'd love to see her in an uber-feminine dress with that haircut… just for the contrast.

  46. Anonymous

    October 27, 2009 at 4:58 pm

    @Shveik –

What for? Maybe because she likes it? If there's one thing I can't stand it's people who come on here and ask WHY someone dresses or cuts their hair the way they do. Personally, I love it. People like her make the world more interesting.

  47. Alex Folzi

    Love the bag.

I love it. The silhouette with the peg leg, high water trousers, the shoes, the hair cut of course – it feels very much like "now", but not in a horrible trendy way. Quite unique.

  57. Graham I. Haynes

    October 27, 2009 at 6:24 pm

I'm surprised so many people had a problem with this look, but it made me think about how we sometimes equate stylish with sexy. Some styles aren't meant to be sexy, though, just an outward expression of uniqueness. I personally love this.

QUIRKY AND UNIQUE…but doesnt necessarily mean that it's suitable for the person.

the hair cut reminds me a monk's hair.
    no offense.

interesting look, but i used to live in milan and this haircut is too extreme for me on a man or a woman. This is actually a woman, I met her a few times and she works for Prada – hence the 'forward' style

  71. Andre Gorr

    October 27, 2009 at 11:03 pm

Mr Sart, did you intentionally put the mirror image of this pic to confuse us?
isn't it ladies' cut of a jacket finished with men's side closure???

she is nice person with beautiful face, but missing some accents/accessories in her outfit…

    October 27, 2009 at 11:54 pm

I really like this "Trappist Oompa-Loompa" look. I think it is very well put together and fun. Wondering if the photo was flipped – the jacket certainly looks like a woman's jacket but buttons like a man's. I think it is a terrific look.

  74. Mariele

    October 28, 2009 at 4:05 am

I love how the jacket gives the outfit it's femininity. without it, the outfit would look bland and too masculine, but having it.. wow.

I am so drawn to looks like this that exaggerate a silhouette rather than balance it out; it's so much more interesting and it shows a certain level of confidence. It's how I like to dress – I've got hips and a midsection, hear me roar. It's great how she's injected so much femininity into a seemingly masculine look.

Is this bag ostrich leather? Because I heard the other day that ostrich feathers are really thick and so when the skin is made into a hide it leaves big holes when the hair is pulled out that make a strange pattern. Wooah if it is then that is so so cool!

i hate the haircut, i don't like the jacket, i am indifferent about the bag and i don't like the vintage shoes. i like the red socks, and the face expression of this person makes me have sympathy about her despite what she's wearing.

I look at this woman and imagine someone who is inspired by indigenous dance forms and has started taking tap classes. Her boyfriend, who owns a gallery that sells old icons, finds her haircut adorable. She prefers Japanese prints and has some in her bag. The jacket belonged to her mother. She prefers Wendy's to Jack in the Box. She is wearing vintage perfume.

I think ma looks fantastic! There's girl written all over her, though your taste in women would have to be "jolie lade", as opposed to "doll".

The haicut looks like a friend did it, but she has the right kind of her/him face to pull it off.

I'd love to holla' at her! She could attend anything, with me.

Love her shoes and the whole look–she's got such a great sense of personal style. I'm so sick of cookie-cutter sex in the city women wearing 4-5 inch hooker stiletto heels and short skirts with bare legs. I don't care if they are $1000 Louboutins or Jimmy Choos, if they're that high, you look like a cheap hooker/fashion roadkill in them. I wish that awful trend would die and women would dress more like this amazing creature. But unfortunately heels seem to be getting even more extreme this season–is it a conspiracy against women?

  120. krisnn

    October 30, 2009 at 7:03 pm

it's funny…. a skinny effeminate boy can dress in heels and lace, throw his picture up on a fashion blog and it's "FABULOUS." a woman can cut her hair and dress androgynous-like, but put her picture up and she "doesn't do herself justice."
thanks for giving her a voice, Sartorialist.

So typical, the woman doesn't have long hair, or some kind of Rihanna hair cut and lots of people think the outfit is ill-composed. I've seen tons of pictures with guys in this kind of outfit and everyone thought it was handsome. What's going on? She's the one of the few real people I see on here.

I don't care that I'm not crazy about each particular item, I enjoy the feeling I get of the photo as a whole. I think this person is very warm despite the somewhat cold aura surrounding the angular aspects of the outfit.

I love her! That look is so simple yet so bold, striking and powerful. Everything works for me here.

    reminds me of tilda swinton.
it has such an odd quality, but is also very recognizable at the same time. i love it.
i am not convinced about the haircut with that face, but seperately, i love them both.
this picture made me think the most of any of yours.

I love everything! The bag, the pants, the shoes, everything. She looks old world and progressive all at the same time.

nice jacket + bag + pants= excellent. I can see his hair style is set for his overall style. But, it might be better if he puts a motive, such as red shoes or distinct color accessories. Because such style is too trendy(common) these days.
