On the Street…..Ursina Gysi, Paris

I might not always love her combinations (but I love the challenges she suggests) ¬†but I’m always curious to what she will wear each time I see her in Paris.

Impossible. Look at the men around her. One hguy is wearing long jeans, boots and a sweatshirt with the hood up. Another guy is wearing a long jeans and a trench coat. It can’t be too warm for her outfit, if everyone else is wearing coats.

I’m sorry, but this is terrible, if it were a nobody, wearing this in the street, you would think it ridiculous!

I love her style more then any other person Scott pictures. this is no exception. She always looks like a sexy tom boy, which i think is perfect.

Scott, she can tell your judging her, hence the epic stare down…… But actually I agree, interesting combinations, bold move Ursina, bold move.

Something regal about the whole ensemble, despite the pedestrian nature of the individual elements.

Oh god, more fawning over what is an atrocious outfit.

I think it was contrived for raising eyebrows.

She is hardly alone in thinking that there is more beauty in functional, “ordinary” clothing especially when worn in interesting proportions, and combinations, then in designer stuff that people with money and no personality tend to acquire. One or two “IN” things are fine‚Ķbut ordinary mass produced clothing, especially when its not new, and its with intent, is so much cooler right now.
The stupidest thing lately is the many people buying really expensive tailored pants and wearing them sagging, like some gangster from a ghetto….I saw someone with a pair of Gucci sailor pants worn low on the hips, looking like if they misstepped and yanked on the hem they would pull it them down of their tush. THAT is what we should be making fun of. Not this.

TTT, you just don’t get it. You’re so consumed with judging the individual parts of this look and you’ve totally missed what those parts achieve when they come together. Read berenger’s comment below. You might learn something…

Lovely girl, but what is that fuzzy green thingy? I have one in my duster bag I think. I must pull it out and wear it.

Oh, puh-lease! How can this picture have its place on this website? It’s awful and ridiculous. I agree with the person who said that if it were anybody else we’d all be making fun of them for so much lacking taste. Where is elegance? Where is style? Not in that picture, that’s for sure!

      July 31, 2014 at 10:58 am

Style doesn’t have to be elegant, Woodstock was full of style but it was far from elegant.

The meaning of this ensemble is substantiated by the author’s prior body of work. It’s hard to look at it in isolation from that, and not be intrigued.

I love it. It should be all wrong. But it’s all so right. I love the elegant lines she’s created with a fleece, especially the bell sleeves and padded shoulders, and sport shorts. The silhouette has a late 20s feel for me: slouchy elegance that is encouraged by her pose. Love the colours too, especially how she’s pulled it together (no pun intended) with the orange cord and the orangey tan shoes.

Just because something is different that doesn’t mean it has no other value. Elegance can come in unexpected forms and is all the better for it in my view.

Ok, I’ve looked at some photos of Ursina and have decided that she owns some wonderful pieces and some not. However, it appears that any amazing outfit that results is simply a matter of chance.

She is an inspiration…. Does not matter if she has the latest “it” bag or item….she pulls together things from past and present in such a unique way, with such confidence.. I love it! The sillouette, colours, the mood… Perfect. Agree though, it doesn’t always work but she gives it the best shot!
