From the bed to the street… lliteally!
I think it’s a bit too much, but then again, Italian men seem to be able to pull anything off

That’s a Prada PJ innit? Nice contrast to the white shirt.

The crisp white shirt and the pop of colour with the green notebook(?) really completes this look. The print on the pyjama suit is also very striking.

      July 19, 2012 at 7:20 am

When i saw this picture I also noticed this nice green notebook. But it seems you overtook me. So I totally agree with your comment.

This outfit is too ‘matchy’ for my liking. Nonetheless, as usual, good shot

A pyjama suit worn on a crisp white shirt ? It takes a very confident man to do it and he didn’t forget his cufflinks !
I wonder who the photographer in the back is ?

Amazing combo. Pj’s like suit with cuffed shirt. Amazing oxymoron! or is it?

  49. Kimbo

    July 18, 2012 at 8:18 pm

Black rim spectacles try to save the day again. Black rim glasses are not verification that the wearer has style, merely a last ditch effort to save this piece. Not a fan of the cloth but I do like his haircut.

TOO much pattern, Pick one, CHOOSE a printed Top or Bottom, add in a solid, then the look would be fine.

  59. Mark W.

    July 18, 2012 at 10:43 pm

Absolutely Not. He looks like a walking necktie. Unless he is grocery shopping, that is under-dressed. Nice scale on the print, though. I would wear it around my neck.

  60. mike

    July 18, 2012 at 10:44 pm

not for the timid. that’s a mean foulard going on there & along with the bright green book:
    “LOOK AT ME.”
for me, it does not matter how high the temp is, man or woman, I wouldn’t wear pajamas. this is not even loungewear. these are pajamas.
it’s interesting to see who falls for trends. trends are tricks & gimicks in the first place!

Taking the bedside manner to the street. Genius!

  64. Jason Metz

    July 19, 2012 at 12:47 am

This is a very nice artistic picture, but the look is ridiculas. The foulard pajamas are great looking. The joke is on us here. This person is intentionally try to get your attention, and it worked. You can have the most beautiful clothes but if you do not know how to wear them, it doesn’t matter how beutiful the clothes are.

No NO NO…I agree totally with Lisa O…it´s not that I´m against innovation or newness but this is design without imagination, they´re just pyjamas. Of course it grabs attention, but so would walking around in your underpants….

    July 19, 2012 at 6:32 am

The photo is great as usual but the look!!! terrible. What was he doing in Piazza Affari thefinance heart in Milan? when fashion exceeds the limit, it becomes ridiculous.

  87. Juanita

    July 19, 2012 at 6:48 am

It’s unusual and I know it’s currently fashionable to wear a ‘pyjama suit’ but …………. just can’t imagine ever being taken seriously in this get up! I think pyjamas are best kept for beach holidays, etc etc even when your’re a fashionable Milanese!

  88. Loree

    July 19, 2012 at 7:45 am

Actually, I hate it. There is a very thin line between being fashionable and “forward” and being ridiculous. In this case it has been crossed. Simply OTT…

“Hi, this is Jim. Just calling to let you know that I’ll be late to work. I just realized I’m still wearing my PJs.”

Nice print though. Almost got pants with a similar print at J. Crew.

      July 19, 2012 at 11:48 am

Hahahah. This is a very funny comment.

  95. M.

    July 19, 2012 at 10:01 am

NO! My husband is so well dressed, even his pyjamas are v. nice. So if he wore these to bed I should be well pleased, but if he turned up at the restaurant like this, I would blush for his sake.

I would guess this fellow doesn’t have a wife.

    • Martine

      July 19, 2012 at 3:24 pm

Or at least not one that thinks like you. I would be very pleased to be seen with someone that dresses so daringly and still looks every inch a gentleman.

Maybe he just returned from China where pajamas are quite common on the street…. but in Milan!!! Come on…. it’s just plain silly!! This is someone that really needs to attract attention to himself.

  100. Sophie Mhabille

    July 19, 2012 at 1:25 pm

original. It looks like a pajama on a white shirt

  101. Kurt Feero

    July 19, 2012 at 1:35 pm

As always a man who has nerve and a sense of humor gets strung up by the b*lls. Yes, these are pajama inspired. If I am not wrong they are Prada? So I don’t think they are literally pajamas. I suspect he works in fashion and has taken steps to make it appropriate(the shirt, cufflinks, glasses, neat hair). To the person who said ‘he probably doesn’t have a wife”, that is insulting because he might and she could applaud his brave/madcap sense of style. Sure you could have gone routine by pairing either top or bottom with a solid and it still would have been great but it is nice to see the gutsy few who say, “this is for me and if you don’t like it? Look the other way.” Hooray!

Oh my goodness, I have never seen anything like that. Men in one piece outfits are not an everyday sight. not only that, but the pattern is bold and colourful. I love it.

  120. Michael C

    July 20, 2012 at 11:46 am

I’m really not liking the outfit. It’s too literal. It’s kind of fashion victim-y. Just because it’s Prada (I think) doesn’t make it automatically hip and cool. I know the photo was taken because Sartorialist photographs many kinds of people’s styles and representations of fashion so I can appreciate that.

  121. Patrick

    July 20, 2012 at 3:34 pm

He’s good looking enough to already be a head-turner, but more importantly he has a real talent for geting REALLY noticed in affable and amusing ways.

  122. Kathleen

    July 20, 2012 at 5:39 pm

Wow. Honestly, the sheer confidence that this man is exuding wearing this outfit is inspiring

When I first saw the top of the photo, I loved it. As I scrolled down and saw the matching trousers, I thought, “nooooooo….”

I love busy patterns, but not always from head to toe. It does look too pajama-y and not in the good way. I’d love to see the top paired with navy dress pants or dark denims, and the bottom paired with the crisp white shirt he’s already wearing.

  127. don

    July 21, 2012 at 9:15 pm

Discovered a similar pattern, which I will have tailored into a men’s scarf..thank you Sartorialist!

  128. Shane

    July 21, 2012 at 9:30 pm

I must say, I do not have the confidence to wear such spectacular attire but after seeing him wear it I now do! Please wear can I find this?

  129. MacGuffin

    July 22, 2012 at 4:36 am

Sleepwalkers are so weird. Why did this dude put on cufflinks and then his pyjamas?

  130. Carlos

    July 22, 2012 at 9:36 am

Jeeeeezzz…! I see people leaving home in their PJ’s everyday, and I find it ridiculous… Totally nonsense
At least this one does onot really look like a PJ; rather resembles some of the AW2012/13 jacquard suits created by Muiccia Prada for her ladies line.
    Go figure!!!

Mmmmm… Scott,I’m afraid you’re becoming too modern for me.

That could be nice for evening at home, but never as a business suit.

@Tina, Inez and Laura: I thought exactly the same thing and, as Inez says, Italian men can pull any outfit. great photo!

As always, great shot. Horrible fashion sense, though.

I don’t like pijama for men, expecially during the day, expecially while working and it seems to me the outfit doesn’t have style, Milan is always fighting between relaxed style and working one, bye, bye Mara.

I think that this handsome man can wear whatever he wants. Sometimes it’s more the person than the dress. :)

Not in love with the suit but he can sure carry it off; helps that he’s Italian (and therefore effortlessly good looking)!

If it was just the silky top over the white shirt with say, jeans it would be good but not too keen on the matchy pants with it. Definitely looks like pajamas.
