On the Street…..My Fashion School, New York

I saw this young lady the other day at Casa Magazines on Eighth Avenue.  It reminded me of how many times I’ve done the exact same thing, buying an armful of magazines for a long weekend.  Actually I think Casa Magazines was my most important fashion and photography schooling.  School trained my brain but the magazines I bought at Casa trained my eye.

Agreed. Such a colorful and fun shot too. Cute and casual black dress on her.

She looks like she’s going to spend an awesome weekend! For me too there’s nothing quite like taking 10 really cool magazines to Regent’s park or Hampstead heath and spend the afternoon there… Oh and I adore her very simple dress and flat shoes and little socks, very minimalist!

This place is an institution. The staff actually know about their magazines and can get even the most obscure item if you ask them.

This is one of my favourite pictures ever. It’s a house of magazines, that could cave in on her.

    Exactly my own experience!
My brain was builded up on the desk but soul&eyes on fashion magazines!
Nowadays exists the web so you can afford to catch images all around the world, but the smell of magazines pages is unforgettable…

    Love your photography …
I love the way every single picture gives me something new in the same way (if it makes any sense… ;) but also this description is special to me, for I (as well) get that same armful of magazines for a long weekend or break and reminds me of the ‘thirst’ for magazines that a set like this will give you , whether standing there physically or looking at this photo!
    Going to my ‘quiosque’ brb…

This is a brilliant photo. I like the way she’s leaning back to balance the weight of the magazines. That’s echoed by the way the walls of magazines seem to be leaning toward her. And, of course, her outfit is adorable.
