This is the same girl as before, right? I must say that this is a style that I am not into at all, but I don't say she isn't stunning and beautiful, cos she really is. I just don't like that much mixed colors, and I never got why wear a leather bag with floral prints and sandals.. I know it might be my "issue" but I like leather bags in winter time and with beachy clothes I would wear a canvas bag or no bag at all.. :)
I love your photographs they are amazing ! You chose the right place to take your pictures,Rio is such a beautiful city, it may no be NY where everyone is really dressy all the time but the "carioca" style is uncomparable, its fresh , clean and very sexy,It has it own fashion style. Its a pleasure have you here at the cidade maravilhosa with us. Welcome !
Yesterday I didnÂŽt comment, I wanted to see some more photos of her. The first pic was too perfect, too pricess-like for me (beautiful color of the dress, though). I like this photo a lot more. It shows a flesh and blood young lady who likes to play with style. Gimme some more :-)))))
This is my first comment in 2010, so I wish you a happy and succesful 2010!
You got any pictures of any proper winter-wear (snow-cold, minus celsius)? Awesome pictures anyhow.
It would be cool if you could add some info to the pictures about the origin of some of the clothing, the materials etc, to the extent which you discuss it with your subjects, it would give some more food for-thought.
Compare and contrast the barbershop below with the turquoise Hermes bag here! They are the same color–but worlds apart! That, of course, raises the moral dilemma–is it okay to display ostentatious wealth in a country like Brazil? Is it ever ok, anyway-whether you're a bored Olsen shopping in Beverly Hills or a nouveau riche socialite being busy doing charity work?
The only time a Birkin works for me is when it is carried by its namesake! And she was the inspiration because she used to carry around a wicker basket!
have to say I'm not in love with this one. She is stunning, with an inner glow, but the combination is unfortunate; especially the hat and scarf combo. The hat is too big and the scarf, bulky. I love your blog though!
You know, you often see the Hermes bag in jean color as a contrasting item in an outfit, but she integrates it so well by wearing the same color on her clothes. It is refreshing that she matches it with a v casual shirt and scarf (?) as if to say, "I carry this bag all the time" which they should for all the money they cost. Jorge from WPB
Wow. This girl IS brazil. Light blue and orange is one of my favorite color combinations and contrasting it against such a crisp white really gives it a beacy feel. Plus having awesome legs doesn't hurt.
Simply love the Prada resort scarf skirt especially with summery wedges and simple white tank. However you don't need a scarf on the head when you are wearing it translated into a skirt..the hat alone would've been much sexier with tousled beach hair. I love Hermes as much as anyone but a canvas/leather version would've been amazing and not so predictable esp with the straw hat…….
I love the outfit – the colour combinations are perfect – the hat and scarf is fresh and pops the outfit up a notch the way a scarf alone wouldn't have. I cant put my finger on what is wrong with the shoes though, they jar….
want to tell Lucia who commented up there. i do not see the colors are mixed too much. and also, if she brought canvas bag with her dress, it might be just normal. the fact that she brought something that cannot easily be chosen makes her special. : )
I am loving the discussion of the scarf with the chapeau. I always understood that the scarf was a necessary accompaniment to the hat and that it is a sartorial statement. I also believe it is not easy to pull of such a look. I think this woman works it!
i like the hat, the headband, the bag and the skirt. but to combine all those together seems like she was trying too hard.
i like this website cos it captured and proved that girls dont need to tote a birkin bag everytime everywhere to show that she have style cos not everybody in this world is blessed to have even one birkin bag.
and looking at her pics with diff color of birkin just turn me off.
I agree with a few others… If you you are wearing a represented scarf as a skirt, no need for an additional one on your head. However, i think the colors are brilliant! Miuccia captured the ideal tropical vacay! I do think that the silhouette could enhance the body a little better, however, not everyone can look like Agyness Deyn
Love love love Joana, but the bag is misplaced giving the outfit a nouveau riche/BLING tone or "I raided my mom's closet", which I know it is not the case with Joanissima. LURVE the skirt and her necklace! Mil beijos.
sure she is beautiful, but not like brazilians girls at all! She's too fashion foward, seems to me that she's only dressed like this to "perform" atÂŽFashion Rio… Btu i really like the Carmem Miranda style!
no wonder see has a second Birkin…they wear so little clothes and mostly sandals they don't have to spend money on anything else. for example a good cashmere coat, or a pair of leather boots are def out of the question…
My husband often tells me when we look at this site not to overanalyze the details; look at the overall image and decide if it speaks to you. I have to agree with him on this one. Some things get lost in the details here but the combination of blue/ orange/ white is so fresh, so south american summer that they should put her in tourism ads for Brazil.
sorry guys, but this chick is wearing way too much things! she looks like a christmas tree from the tropics. i love rio and i've been there several times. i'm afraid to say, but she's just out of the context of the city. but i have to admit, joanna is very beautiful and stylish, but this time she is overproduced. it feels like she has this outfit only to take this picture.
come on schott!how could you like her style?! she is totaly not natural, but this could be not so bad…she decided to waer her wrap-around in a way that is not cool at all!what about the bag?! my mother (that you really could love because of her style) teached me that you should never wear a leather bag when you're wearing something really lightweight (expecially if it is not night-time). in the end, I do think that it's too much: never wear a hat and a foulard on the same head.
She looks amazing, but for my own personal taste it's a little too busy (I tend to stick with one accessory, like a great pair of earrings, or scarf, as opposed to a scarf + hat + jewelry + bag). With so much going on I love the simple white shirt and shoes though and that her make-up is natural, perfect combination and choice on her part. I do wish I could pull off a look like this though!
I agree what anonymous 8:02 am said, don't over analyze the details. I find it so discouraging to the spirit of the blog when an outfit is over-criticized in the comments.
Honestly, so what if she has another Birkin bag, so what if it is leather, and so what if she is wearing a hat with a head scarf. SHE loves to wear them and SHE looks great. Who are we to criticize what SHE should wear.
I agree that she looks great â the outfit, the scenario, the summer feel⊠But the photo seems âstagedâ to me, as a fashion magazine spread. Brazilian women usually do not go around in DVF dresses toting Hermes bags. Joanna (Nolasco) is beautiful and stylish, but a professional of the fashion industry, and by no means representative of the Brazilian woman. Brazilian women are beautiful, but have in general a simpler style, no flashy expensive brands. In Garanceâs words (she was there too): âThe girls are amazing. Itâs totally true. They are sublime. They dress with simplicity and taste. The coolest of them all wear flats. I didnât come across too many fashion addicts.â
I like this look a lot, but it does suggest "trying too hard". Skipping the head gear would be good. Or, one or the other – not both scarf and hat. Agree the bag's a bit heavy. Very contrived, though it's clear she's a Sartorialist.
Extremely biased and distasteful comment of Alexiaki. Yes, in Brazil there are also winter and used boots and coats, it is a country of continental proportions and not all places do as much heat as in Rio There Hermes stores in Brazil and sells very well! There are many Birkins, kelis, chanel, and many others out there. You think that in Brazil we're all naked? Better to study and learn a little more. It would just be ignorance of aspects of other countries on your part? Would envy? Josiane Ruiz Ribas.
she knew sart was coming to town… u never see anyone dressed this good in rio…this season is like a million degrees there… the weather is super hot….and she looks surely superhot… but i wish we had more women this good looking when mr sart is not around here….sometimes i think i can be proud of this country… but is lasts only a while…
Ok,its beautiful, etc, etc but nobody wear like that in calcadao in Rio,nobody carry a Hermes bag at beach It's sad,but it's true Rio it's a very dangerous and poor city.Maybe you can see people with expensive clothes at fasano hotel, fancy restaurants, but her look is not "natural"
