My Icon Franca Sozzani

RIP Franca Sozzani.

She was really my favorite editor in fashion and her work shaped my view on fashion and photography.

We are loosing such wonderful people. David Bowie, Prince, Franca, Madam Carven, Richard Nicoll. Bill Cunningham. I pray to God they are keeping each other good company, and smiling down at us, just as she smiles at us here. Amen.

I pray to God the netherworld is nothing like this and people don’t need to keep each other company. Amen.

I remember being captivated by a photograph of her dropping her son off at school so many years ago. Such a uniquely beautiful and creative force. Already missed.

Affection and admiration are present in all of Sart’s images of Franca Sozzani. Every time she has appeared I felt a sense of delight. This shot is stunning! I hardly was aware of her before The Sartorialist, not daring to pick up Italian Vogue! It’s as warm and exuberantly creative as Franca! Words cannot capture a human being’s life. Her passing is a loss to people who didn’t know her, tremendously and profoundly more to those who did. The love being expressed for her is a testimony to the woman she was.

I loved seeing her positive face no matter what. She was beautiful, to be sure, but she was also smart. It’s sad she’s passed.
