Sorry, the second photo feels like fingers scraping the chalkboard – when one used chalk boards, long ago. I can’t get used to the look that say to me “I rolled out of bed and picked some clothes off the floor to wear today. ” Old fashion thinking, I’m sure.
The first picture is lovely, especially the sunnies

Love it. Plaid looks awesome. It never fails to look kind of preppy, kind of risky, and always classy.

It is just awful for that lovely young lady to be paired with such a horribly dressed person.

      I couldn’t agree more.

Excusez-moi, but I’m pretty sure that “horribly dressed” person is Hari Nef the talented actress/model/writer and she is wearing Jacquemus the French designer who earned two nominations for the LVMH Prize.

Surely you understand it matters not the name nor the notoriety of a person, or who designed the clothing. What matters in this particular situation is that al and maudie believe this particular outfit is awful. That is their observation, unbiased by fawning over celebrity and clothing labels. I for one appreciate and value that sort of unbiased honesty, whether it’s in praise or in criticism. Many, many times I have praised a look or outfit here, as have others, without any idea of the name of the person involved. And a few times I’ve said “Ewwh.” Such is life.

You can drop any name you like and it won’t make it any more easy on the eyes.

It would be no less hideous and dreadful if it was the Prince of Peace returning.

with respect to yourself and Ms Nef the outfit is still horrible. I am sure she is an amazing actress/model/writer but that does not automatically qualify her to be on the most stylishly dressed list. Or am I wrong?

The choices of the woman in the second photo are really esthetically painful. I don’t care who the designer is. Some people would wear a burlap bag if the designer were right.

I agree with you, maudie. One of those pictures works for me a lot better then the other.

I am re-discovering plaid since I am in the UK. I was allergic to this print as a child because it meant Sunday’s at the church. Then this year my mother gave me a long plaid skirt and since then I just love wearing it. I don’t know if it is being in the UK that is influencing but I am definitely trying to not wear it as a granny or a punk.

Everyone is pointing out how horrible Hari Nef looks in that outfit but I am interested in the dimension of the shoulders of her blazer. It looks like Balenciaga by Demna Gvasalia if I’m not mistaken and I think it’s the first time I see someone wearing it so it’s interesting. I think the proportions are quite difficult to pull off so that’s why I find the picture interesting.

      It’s Jacquemus not Balenciaga.

Thanks for correcting me. I didn’t remember Jacquemus did such jackets. Will have to have another look at his collection!

Photo two: it’s an effort, surely it’s an effort, to stand out in a crowd; mission accomplished
