She dresses in such a seemingly nonchalant and youthful way, yet keeping it ‘age-appropriate’ (ack, I hate that term though). Anywho, she looks amazing, very striking!

    • westcoasttiger

      October 7, 2013 at 8:44 pm

“Age appropriate”? No… her style would look good on any woman of any age. Good taste has no age restrictions.

        October 8, 2013 at 12:01 am

Agree! Why the focus on her age? (She’s not even that old!) Is it really such an aberration to see a beautiful woman over the age of 30? Is it really such an “inspiration”? How patronising!!!

        • Suze

          October 8, 2013 at 9:17 am

Hi, since I’m the parent-comment here I feel spoken to and just wanted to say that I don’t think it’s an aberration to see a beautiful woman over the age of 30. But is it really that bad to factor age into complementing someone on their style? Style evolves with life I think.

So yeah, I do think she’s an inspiration, but not necessarily because of her age, just simply because she looks and dresses really great I think!

Hey, as a woman the same age as Renata Molho, I am bummed when I read comments that are smarmy and patronising. Like she is some kind of little old lady or something! The reason we love her does, however, have something to do with her age: she has not succumbed to dye, filler, Talbots, Eillen Fisher and a little round tummy. She looks great because she has style, not FASHION—and that is the greatest fashion of all! You can’t bottle that!

I think style is very personal and I don’t think her style would look good on anyone. But it sure does on her! And I think her age has something to do with that. She keeps it playful but not juvenile, that’s all I’m saying.

        • Christie

          October 23, 2013 at 2:06 pm

I agree she is an icon because she has style and seems relevant. When many women her age have “succumbed to dye, filler, Talbots, Eillen Fisher and a little round tummy” as another commentor wrote, and generally look dated, this woman still has something that the rest of aspire to. It’s admirable and I think part of what we all aspire to is not selling out, like this woman.

            November 13, 2014 at 5:56 pm

Christie, though I am a little late in replying, lol, I want you (and Scott’s readers of “a certain age”) to know that your quoting of another reader’s–re: “succumbed to dye, filler Talbots, Eileen Fisher and a little round tummy” is very inspirational! (I can’t find the original statement, and I LOVE it.) Really, is that all there is supposed to be once one hits 50? Chico’s? Ye Gods, terrifying. I still shop at thrifts, wear vintage and wear men’s clothes because shopping in my area is just so bloody abysmal. Either young and pseudo-hip or grandma, lol. Skinny jeans cut down to where the sun don’t shine, or muumuus. Horrid. Thanks to Christie and original writer of the quote for another wake-up call, so that I do not lapse into catalog shopping and sensible shoes, lol.

I know what you’re saying, and I agree. She’s found that perfect pitch.. looking stylish without being dowdy.. and keeping it fresh without trying to look like a 20 year old.

my mum and i were discussing aging the other day – she was saying that her cheeks are about to collapse into soft criss-cross wrinkles. my mum is a lovely woman, has been beautiful her whole life. and while she was talking, i was thinking about your “mature women” series, and Renata specifically – how her face is so wonderful to look at…i think that part of her beauty is her lovely wrinkles – they show how expressive she has been, and continues to be. other commentors on this site have said before that style and fashion are not synonymous (although they often hold hands!). i think that, whatever fashion comes and goes, this lady (and my beautiful mum) have style. :)

I tend to criticize a certain other female fashion icon who appears quite a bit more often here than Ms. Molho. The woman who goes by three names would seem to follow a lot of the same fashion rules Molho lives by, but I would say the difference is one’s style appears effortless, much like the jazz musician’s chops compared to the staged rock musician who seems to always play too loudly.

Difficult to get past looking at her incredibly beautiful face, natural hair color and perfect hair cut. She does not even think about having style. She is probably always surprised when someone compliments her style. She is who she is with no efforts made. Thank you, Scott, for these photos. Does give one pleasure to think about aging like this woman.

Minimal, as one can claim this textural landscape to be, I find depth in the simplest line, hue and form that you have chosen for, the unveiling of your style armory. The sea-coast dipped wool, cloaks ideas, thoughts of the cardiac and the muscles that work to defend such theories, while the white daffodils have conjoined to give you a sleek button-down, that certainly compromises the mind’s hindsight on what “fashion” today, would employ for a camera lens such as mine. The mystic realm of white, black and brown horses, race to the protection of your cerebral, functioning as the steady stream of action you project with your honest gaze and tense smile. I embarked upon this, photo with time granted to convey you in the light, your offering….Renata!
