Happy New Year!

Hey guys– I just landed in Florence, and I’m enjoying my first full day of shooting this year. You’ll start to see the results later today!

Although the site has been quiet, we’ve been busy working behind the scenes on some great new features that will continue through 2012; style profiles, book suggestions, interviews, etc…

I’ve also been listening carefully to your suggestions on how to improve the site.  Hopefully later this week, if not early next week, you’ll see a more intuitive way to review the archives– followed by some minor updates.

Over the next few months, we’ll endure exciting travels;  Milan twice, Paris twice, London, New York… and a few surprise stops in between.

So let’s get ready for a great 2012!

Scott – it is really nice to get your note with the update. I love the site changes you’ve made so far – I know it was a LOT of work. I also once wrote in requesting being able to see the pictures in full without having to scroll nor click on it; I recall others requesting the same thing. And finally, suggesting you hire scouts in TORONTO to help you. :D

Anyway, I’m a huge fan and truly admire your work. Thank you so much for The Sartorialist and I hope 2012 is really good to you.

Improvements are always fine, but please don’t make the site too complicated. Simplicity is a great virtue, and it’s quite rare. It’s already nice the way it is.

I just left Firenze, where I have been living for several months. I am now going back to Copenhagen.
Best Panini and wine bar in town: All’Antico Vinaio, via dei Neri.
The owner, Tomaso, is amazingly nice, this place has been for my friends and I our home sweet home in this touristic city.

    If it ain’t broke . . .

Changes can be great, but DON’T clutter up the site.

It is great in large part because of its elegant, streamlined look: that’s its essence.

Don’t sacrifice it for any reason.

    Hey Mr. Schumann!
Pleased to have you here in my city. I suggest you to have a walk in San Frediano and Santo Spirito neighbourhoods. They caught perfectly the essence of the young lads from Florence. And we DO are cool. Cooler than newyorkers, actually.
Oh, sorry for all the traffic jams.
    See you, sooner or later.
