Bottega Veneta…. Best of Milan?

I really thought Bottega Veneta was the best show in Milan. The use of color (both bold and neutral), the prints and the surface textures were superb.

There are very few shows I see that (at some point) stop being a show, and start being a personal shopping preview.

    I love the hues in the first image… scarlets… cranberries… plums… corals… in love <3

If I could find a young man that dressed so proper and stylish…! Yet to find one.

Also gushing over the blue python hold-all in the image <3

ermmm, i like their ears and their hair…I can't really get that into clothes that are just being modelled or shown rather than actually being worn.

There is so much to love about Bottega Veneta's show…the beautiful colours, impeccable tailoring that always exudes effortless elegance, love the rumpled 'worn in look' too, so inviting!

Wow. I always think the Bottega shows both the men's and women's are some of the best of the season – any season. Tomas Maier is a design master. We are lucky to have him and we are lucky to have you to present the work in such a clear way. I think just these 2 images you present say so much about how men can dress in a modern, sexy way. I love it!

Like Soren, I love to see clothes worn on the street. It will be interesting to see how some of these pieces look when they appear in NY and Paris and (?) Stockholm. M. Sart, good luck finding them for us!That's what keeps me looking at this blog on a daily basis. Loved that off-white dress in Paris the other day!!

I agree, I think Bottega Veneta was one of the best. The colors and patterns are amazing like similar designers who caught my eye like Etro, Comme Des Garcons and Dries van Noten.

just how do you take such amazingly clear shots under those lighting? i tried but failed terribly.

and wanted to drop a note to say hi, i met you outside the versace show, and asked if you're coming to london for the book launch.

    love your blog!

Love both extremes, the bold deep, saturated colour and the neutrals, with subtle layering of tone, pattern and texture. Indeed, this collection seems very wearable. I love it…a lot.

I am in love with everything in these two pics.

The red and magenta is to die for. I hope this does not come across as politically incorrect or insensitive, BUT I hope bright colors are accepted by guys, no matter what their orientation. It's across the board sexy!

The peaked shoulder pads on the red jacket is sweet!

The earth tones in the second pic are fabulous too. The print jacket I hope starts a trend. The cut and texture of the suit in the back is hot — in a good way!

As an avid photographer and model, also fashionisto, I love your blog. And I have to say Bottega Veneta was the best I saw of Spring 2010. The muted tones accented with that splash of color from a scarf or accessory, leading into the beautiful rich red tones; not to leave out the freshness of the models and the throw back to early 90's River Phoenix'esk hair; the entire collection was sophisticated but simple and held it's own. 100% agree. Moschino was a close second, and Roberto Cavalli was also exciting.

Thank you for the great post and fashion.

You are right, Bottega Veneta was one of the best shows. I personnally liked also very much ZZegna, as it was at the same time luxury and daring, and a very strong statement for the brand. What did you think?

  50. George

    July 7, 2009 at 3:25 am

Very good. I don't often wear red (not nearly enough), but I could wear those.

But those lower pants have wrinkles in them. Surely that isn't intentional? Very slack.

Tomas Maier is incredible! With the exception of last summer (I think it was, when he had those quite awful baggy pants that looked a little like overalls), he brings it home season after season! This season was no exception; my favourite men's designer working right now and has been for many years.

    In 1 word: awesome.

Agreed with Energie, the SS09 collection was a complete failure, I ended detesting all those baggy pants.

Oh, YES, yesy, yes… a thousand times yes! Tomas Maier nearly systmeatically manages to come up with quietly but surely luxurious collections for both men and women.

I was so surprised to find adoration for this most disappointing Maier show in years. Sorry to say, but it looks like deparment store, not design. Take a good look at that plain suit and baggy sweaters, not to mention the Abercrombie inspired cadet with the blue purse.

I've got multiple BV wide-legged pants from prior seasons – they look sensational and leave no doubt that I didn't buy them at a mass merchandizing outlet where I can find lots of baggy sweaters and tight profile pants, but from gifted, inspired designer.

on the bottom picture the back model with the suit, i love that the buttons and button holes continue up on either side of the lapels. the use of a pocket square in the bottom pocket is something i like and haven't seen. the pattern of the suit is also fantastic.
