Your photography is impeccable due to the lighting catching the contours of her face perfectly! And I appreciate how you captured her legginess! Great outcome, as always.

Wow, she is thin, but as cute as a baby polar bear sliding down a rainbow into a basket of glitter.

Yes, I like this (polished) schoolgirl aspect too.
My school uniform featured pleats, black stockings, and black shoes, but I disliked it at the time. Years later my sister noted that I was dressed frequently in pleats, black stockings and black shoes.

I love your photos, but I must say that this one makes me feel uncomfortable because the young lady looks sad and she is so skinny.

And would it make you uncomfortable if she were overweight? Would you dare say it? In this whole “empowerment” thing we seem to be relishing, sometimes we demonize and judge more than we would like to admit.

Yes, it would. Neither being so thin and pale nor being obese is healthy.

I can only imagine how hard it must be for you going about in everyday live where people of all body-types, even those who do not fit society’s image of perfect health, walk around freely.

You must ask yourself whether you are truly concerned for their health or you have some underlying body-issues you need to address.

Beautiful coat breaking the introspective expression. I like the contrast in here.

Its a feast. Adidas plaid stripes, black/white road markings and Audrey Hepburn’s doppelgänger. Nice photographic symphonie, Scott! =)

Wow – someone who’s got similar legs to me!! :) To all the comments on skinny legs – while I realise there sometimes is cause for concern for the health/psychology associated with thin frames of an individual and how that ideal may be pose risks to the self image of other women, some people are built that way and their legs will never change shape. Well done to The Sartorialist on diversity of people and ages – may we become accustomed to seeing the full spectrum of beauty.

Yes to diversifying body types! This is a wonderful blog and I draw much inspiration from it – but I do miss the overweight stylish people among these photos.

    I agree that it’s a lovely look.

An aside: the great 19th century guitar virtuoso (and teacher) Fernando Sor lived out his final sad days of illness and poverty at #34 Marché Saint-Honoré. Anyone who has studied the instrument knows his estudios.
