    I’m not familiar with the first figure, but the second one is Madeline from the eponymous children’s book series by Ludwig Bemelmans about a little covent girl in Paris, one of my childhood favorites. The similarity is striking!

      I read Madeline to my daughters (now 20, 17) so many times I still can repeat it from memory. In an old house in Paris….
