That is how Asian fashionsitas could be if they were born in Italy, lol)
But on the whole this cultural dialogue make it this hardly expectable look interesting..

From my point of view, it looks like he is wearing his Granny’s nightshirt; but difference of opinion makes the world interesting.

Classic practical shirt, worn by peasants (the common man) in every century; it is wonderful to see it worn today. And I wish I could find more of same for me.

He doesn’t seem to be enjoying his attire very much! His joie de vivre seems to have upped and left. The clothing disappears with that expression.

Reply to myself: My ignorance is bliss – if he has just come from a day’s hard graft then he has every right to look this bad tempered. My mistake and apologies to this gentleman.

He appears to be using leg garters above his knees (See the billowing.) to keep his pants legs higher so may work where the floor or work gets messy or dirty, which is a practical reason to not wear great shoes.

I remember grocery workers in Italian neighborhood Brooklyn markets when we would visit family there. That was in the fifties and sixties. The shirts always gave a combo of hard worker but bad boy look. In reality they were practical but they look soooo good.

Oh, a PS: technically they are work smocks. That will help people looking for them to wear. Plus, they are affordable.
