I can’t say I was thinking about Duck Boots too much, that is until Nemo struck! These are easily the best option for snow in the City.

Yes actually I have been… I bought a great pair for the Hells Kitchen Street market well over a year ago and they are NO WHERE to be found in my apartment… where did they disappear too?!?! I’ve been searching high and low with no such luck… I guess back to the market I go to buy a new pair… sigh’
love’m they are a great statement in the slush… and just the winter blues!
February 15, 2013 at 4:25 pm
There is no way to dress them up … They are exactly what they are.
February 15, 2013 at 4:28 pm
It is good to see people with real winter shoes! Proof that you can be warm, confortable and stylish!
February 16, 2013 at 10:46 am
I like them too, but I’ve never seen them before. Are they really called duck boots? I would really much want to buy a pair, but I don’t we have them here in Finland. Is there a certain brand I could check out? PLEASE help me someone who knows? Thank you! xxx
February 18, 2013 at 2:19 pm
Try LLBean! I’ll bet they ship to Finland!
December 10, 2013 at 11:44 am
Of course we have them here in Finland as well! Can´t believe you´ve missed them – they are standard winter uniform for every stay at home -mum. :) The biggest brand here is probably Sorel, sold by Stockmann for example. Or check out brandos.fi to order on-line.
February 15, 2013 at 4:34 pm
interesting shoes :)
February 15, 2013 at 4:36 pm
Not the most attractive footwear, but practical as heck on a wet or snowy winter day.
February 15, 2013 at 4:37 pm
Um, yes!! Been eyeing a hot pink one from J.Crew!
February 15, 2013 at 4:45 pm
I personally love these boots. I find them absolutely adorable.
February 15, 2013 at 4:46 pm
melding utility with opulence.
feminine infused with masculine.
long live the tradition of Duck Boots.
February 15, 2013 at 4:55 pm
I don0t like them, but seem perfect for snow and cold!

Loving the oversized masculinity …

I own a pair of these “duck boots” by LL Bean and they definitely came in handy when I visiting NY and Nemo struck and then in Colorado when it snowed yesterday! Love these boots!
February 15, 2013 at 5:33 pm
The bottom right photo: survivalist chic (ominous trend).
February 17, 2013 at 3:13 pm
I have to agree with both points you make; perhaps it’s looked at as “just one more style,” yet that is how some pretty horrific elements of appearance have made it into the history books (I’m thinking of symbols, etc). Critical thinking needs to be applied to all the various ways we present ourselves to others…
On a similar train of thought, this reminds me of the “uniforms” portrayed in “The Handmaid’s Tale” by Margaret Atwood, in book and movie forms.

I never think about them, I don’t like them but they are practical.
I don’t know why but the last picture makes me smile : petit chaperon beige en hiver.
February 15, 2013 at 6:17 pm
When its cold and wet… why not! They can be cute with the right outwear (as shown by 3 of the 4 shots, as i am not a fan of the top right pairing)
February 15, 2013 at 6:38 pm
All incredible images, but the last one, with the wall textures and color is fabulous. The monk-like hood and silhouette is perfect!
February 15, 2013 at 6:47 pm
want a pair but don’t actually need them much in LA :)
February 15, 2013 at 7:02 pm
Good for the snow but not for where I love
February 15, 2013 at 7:12 pm
I love mine when it’s cold and slushy outside.
February 15, 2013 at 7:25 pm
I love them, if only I lived somewhere I could wear them.. sf weather does not call for that!

Thanks for the inspiration!

I love the last picture, it brigns me so many memories
February 15, 2013 at 10:39 pm
Nah…don’t think I’ll be rocking this.
February 16, 2013 at 1:11 am
I wish you’d also included that photo of Thor with duck boots, the army jacket, the striped shirt & white jeans from New York. That was exemplary.
February 16, 2013 at 1:23 am
in fact, i am thinking about duck boots!!!! the thigh-high ones are stunning from ll. but i’m going to settle for the midcalf. they are an ugly beautiful classic that has stood the test of time for good reason!
February 16, 2013 at 2:49 am
I have a pair and I like them. LL Bean are good for me.
February 16, 2013 at 2:57 am
Love white coat..
February 16, 2013 at 4:09 am
Wore my duck boots this morning at 7.30am when I went out to check on our 3 Sussex lights and top up their feed. Didn’t look anywhere near as fashionable as these good people!!!
February 16, 2013 at 4:19 am
I dont like the Duck Boots, but I like the photos very much.
February 16, 2013 at 4:46 am
I love it!
February 16, 2013 at 6:50 am
They’re quite wrong! But seasonal. We prefer wellies on this side of the ocean :)
The slow pace
February 16, 2013 at 8:06 am
I didn’t know they were called Duck boots and I’m wearing them almost everyday since November! That’s the only shoes I can wear where I live. Glad they are kind of a tren right now ;)

Yes they are what they are but there is nothing worse than salt stains on a pair of favorite shoes!
February 16, 2013 at 9:09 am
Oh hell, no!
February 16, 2013 at 9:29 am
Had the same pair from LL Bean for must be 15 years. They’re my go tos for slushy, snowy rainy dog walking. They are weirdly attractive and superiorly functional. Love them!
February 16, 2013 at 9:58 am
They are perfect for snow & look realy comfy!
February 16, 2013 at 11:11 am
This is the first time I see that kind of boots!
February 16, 2013 at 11:14 am
love the monk vest of the last one, she reminds me to Sunn O))) band…
February 16, 2013 at 11:33 am
My adoring practical husband got me a pair for xmas. Now I HAVE to blog about them too!

The two outfits below are very nice. The first one displays more like a scene while the other is more like a fashion shoot for a magazine or product showcase.
Bottom- right is great. Such an unreal look, but so nice. Like the mysterious and dark look.
February 16, 2013 at 1:56 pm
I actually hate them. I could never wear them in the city. But on your pics they are just…cool… :-)
February 16, 2013 at 1:57 pm
Any ideas where that cloak in the bottom right is from?
February 16, 2013 at 2:09 pm
As I was telling my husband regarding fashion week & its collision with snowy weather, next year there will be a deluge of chic snow boots offered. But until then, duck boots are the most practical in the snow. I found it comical seeing the die-hards walking in the snow with their heels!
February 16, 2013 at 8:24 pm
As hard as one might try to be stylish when a storm of Nemo’s strength hits, you can’t. The only alternative is to be practical (duck boots of course) and be creative with the rest of your WARM ensemble. Practical can be quite stylish with an open mind.
February 16, 2013 at 8:48 pm
Living in Nova Scotia means you need a good pair of boots for most of the year.. I bought a pair of Bean boots last year and love them; dressed up or down. I’d rather rock them with a nice outfit than freeze my toes off in any other shoe. I can’t say enough about them!!!
February 16, 2013 at 9:49 pm
Not sure on duck boots…but I do adore those little balloon shoes that the dog is wearing!
Much more stylish than the shoe covers some men sport.
February 17, 2013 at 10:19 pm
Love the pooches red patent booties, a must for any four legged baby in the city!
February 20, 2013 at 11:12 pm
Why? I have never put clothing on my dog, and can’t think of a reason to do it. Why would anyone do that? I mean no offense, I just seek to understand.
February 19, 2013 at 6:41 am
Nice :) http://sml.rs/lepota.html
February 22, 2013 at 10:29 am
Undoubtedly, they are not the must attractive boots in the book. But as far as function, hands (and feet) down, they deliver. It’s also worthy to note, I was given a pair for Christmas from my parents my junior year in high school. That was 27 years ago. I still wear them to slosh around in the rain. Pure quality.

Anyone know what bag the woman is wearing who is bending over and petting the dog?

Nobody is thinking about Duck Boots
Autumn coats for women

The coat you wore was too much for me, but I could recover. The gloves seemed uncomfortable to walk, it seemed he could not lower his arms completely. Was it because it was too tight?
But everything else was well dressed, you killed him with style.
