Oh my got, I love how they are all good looking! Classy and chic so beautiful! Keep going, love what you’re doing!
January 30, 2012 at 4:48 pm
Someday I’ll be in that lunch
very cool. very sweet. loved seeing so many of the gents featured in your shots. …..it was a little disappointing to see kanye west there otherwise can’t wait to see the 25 ladies you’ll host for tea.
January 30, 2012 at 4:49 pm
Simply beautiful! What a seminal moment. What a cast of men.
January 30, 2012 at 4:50 pm
I love this website.
Could we have a colour version please?
That was FABULOUS and I bet the many conversations were too! Thank you for sharing Scott and Garance.
oh! that’s just great!
January 30, 2012 at 4:51 pm
So well edited, takes you back to old school Italy
Really lovely. Hope you continue to explore video work in the future.
This is wonderful. This should be a short film just to listen in on the varied conversations, the insights they share and the commonality that brings them all together. Fascinating!!!
January 30, 2012 at 4:52 pm
A very beautiful video. I love beautiful men!!!
January 30, 2012 at 4:54 pm
OMG! I love this. All the men are so nattily dressed!!! I look forward to your posts every single day. They inspire me :-)
Love from Jamaica!
January 30, 2012 at 4:57 pm
January 30, 2012 at 5:00 pm
This is a brilliant idea! You should do the same lunch with all the beautiful ladies you’re photographing!
January 30, 2012 at 5:02 pm
I don’t think I’ve ever seen more perfectly-cut suits in one room before. It’s perfect!
January 30, 2012 at 5:03 pm
GORGEOUS!!!!!,ALL OF YOU…
Truly amazing!!! :)
January 30, 2012 at 5:05 pm
I wish I knew what Wooster was saying at the end of the video. He sure looks amused by something. :)
January 30, 2012 at 5:08 pm
I can’t find a wold to describe this beautiful atmosphere. Elegance, sophistication, simplicity, surprise, everything is wonderful and extremely balanced and perfect.
Would have felt a lot more authentic if there was more revealed about the profession and background of each guest…not just the fact that they dress well. It seemed a little superficial. Could have done without Kanye West too.
March 2, 2019 at 3:02 pm
I would have to agree, I respect his work as a rapper but find
him to be out of place here.
It would be like me showing up to a rapper dinner after four
decades in the business of mens custom/ bespoke dressing.
Vous avez tout compris !!!!!
January 30, 2012 at 5:10 pm
this literally looks like a dream.
January 30, 2012 at 5:11 pm
Before Faces, now Voices.
Pictures and written words brought to life…
Gotta love you, Scott! :) And of course all of these gentlemen.
January 30, 2012 at 5:12 pm
Brilliant…shooting this in black and white was brilliant!
One critical comment. In the last few seconds of the video, the negative has unfortunately been reversed. A couple of the gents pocket sq appear to be in right pocket. Check it out.
January 30, 2012 at 5:13 pm
All the other so called ‘fashion’ blogs can be deleted right now, because only The Sartorialist one matters.
What a concept, what a movie. Nice job, Scott.

This short movie it’s absolutely amazing, the latin culture, specially Italian one, it’s extraordinary
Beautiful video with beautiful people!
Wow. Well done, great idea. It’s like a film, very elegant
January 30, 2012 at 5:18 pm
How brilliant to see the interaction in the video.
Wow this video is so amazing… From A single man to 25 super elegant single men..

January 30, 2012 at 5:20 pm
A very exquisite and stylish lunch. I love it.
January 30, 2012 at 5:22 pm
-Amazing, just plain amazing!!! What a super idea but then again, it takes something special to take it from “talk” to “walk” and you pulled it off magnificently. Great work and marvelous video. Like someone already said -like a dream!
January 30, 2012 at 5:27 pm
Oh that’s so cool!!! Wish I was there to watch from a side table he he. The video is great – makes me want to pack up and go to Italy right now.
January 30, 2012 at 5:35 pm
I like so much the background song ! The idea of this lunch is great, we can see a diversity of style, it is just a pity that you chose B&W, I would have prefered seeing colors because I had the impression some of your friends are really colorful people, I mean by that that they dress colorful.
I adore the first video with the italian men, they have so much class, you can’t compare them to other men in the world. When I see them I guess I can understand why I came to live in Italy !
Thanks a lot for your work !
Shug’A'Very of Incognito
in a weird way its really inspiring. Loved that you decided to do black and white
January 30, 2012 at 5:36 pm
Loved the video. I looks like the older the gentleman the more stylish the gentleman. Kanye? Really? He looked nervous.
January 30, 2012 at 5:37 pm
Great video. Love seeing so many gentlemen dressed so well and with such varied styles.
Check out my style last weekend in my newest post.
January 30, 2012 at 5:38 pm
January 30, 2012 at 5:40 pm
Beautiful, was that shot at Il Latini? My only negative observation is that you show many beautiful young men and women, as well as gorgeous interesting older gentlemen but very few mature women…..
January 30, 2012 at 5:45 pm
I love this, such a great video. All these men from different age groups, different backgrounds and they all have something in common. Amazing work.
so cool, eclectic bunch with common interest, so cool to have Kanye there too, but in this group he is just one of the (uber stylish) guys
January 30, 2012 at 5:46 pm
the marrying of the 2 best things in life. good fashion and good food. great lunch to glimpse into. hopefully the first of many.
January 30, 2012 at 5:52 pm
Well, just fabulous! x
such an eclectic bunch of men with an obvious common interest, amazing to see Kanye there, but in this group he is is just another (uber stylish) guy

January 30, 2012 at 5:56 pm
Video is such a great piece of artwork
Of all the things you have accomplished Scott… this is easily the most special and admirable piece. A true culmination of the relationships you have forged through your hard work.
My favourite quote from the past year is.. “Life is about the people you meet and the things you create with them.” This embodies that notion perfectly.
A great moment.

Gorgeous! What joie de vivre!
January 30, 2012 at 5:59 pm
Such a brilliant idea, so beautifully executed – thank you. Loved it in black and white but would also love to see the colour version. Keep doing what you do, Scott.
January 30, 2012 at 6:00 pm
@sP, @Laura – why the Kanye hate? He’s been as important a contributor to the success of TS as everyone else at the lunch. He should be applauded for being so open-minded, coming out of the rap world where most things are very straight and narrow, and a style like his is routinely frowned upon. Shame on you both for singling him out, and not justifying why at the very least.
January 30, 2012 at 6:03 pm
Congrats Scott. Amazing work. I think you just took fashion blogging to a whole new level.
Wow!!! Such an eclectic mix of people. But yet they all just ooze not only with class but also individuality.
January 30, 2012 at 6:06 pm
What a great idea to connect people from around the world to each other using fashion and style but Sart, where are the women? Où sont les femmes??
January 30, 2012 at 6:12 pm
My grandfather would have been invited. An Italian transplant from the hills above Genoa, he never left the house without full regalia. Shined shoes, snazzy hand-tailored suit (famous for his colorful linings), and always, always, a hat. He knew how to dress, and gave me a lifelong love of fashion. As a result, his granddaughter grew up to design & appreciate beautiful clothing. Molto bene, Signori, Molto Bene.

January 30, 2012 at 6:15 pm
I loved this video of stylish, handsome men, young and not so young, enjoying a lunch together. Strong, positive message and overall a wonderful idea!!
January 30, 2012 at 6:18 pm
I’ve been following you for so many years now and I got oddly emotional looking at all these guys who have in their own way contributed to my outlook on style… on life… on that so hard to figure out “good life” and this video is such a tribute to that. I’m inspired by what you have created.
Look forward to seeing you soon and much affection to you and Garance,
Annika Van Gilder
January 30, 2012 at 6:21 pm
Great video and story! However, I’m not sure I agree with your comment on the lack of fashion and style in Indiana. I’m still in high school but I have wonderfully creative and well-dressed friends. Also, there’s a daily style blog by a woman who lives in Bloomington that has gained thousands of followers! http://whatiwore.tumblr.com/
January 30, 2012 at 6:25 pm
Oooh- how can one describe such comfortable, high style energy in one room? I was sitting on the edge of my seat like a child thoroughly captivated. Job well done Scott. Love the music- choice of venue and decision to go with black and white- buonissimo!
January 30, 2012 at 6:27 pm
A smorgasbord of style and visual cacophony! Great editing… beautiful video Scott.
January 30, 2012 at 6:41 pm
For some reason, I’m expecting to see Ugo Tognazzi popping up in there. Well done.
January 30, 2012 at 6:43 pm
I dig the Black & White, the Music is perfect and it’s showing Scott’s Growth as a blogger and a man with Vision. I hope you shot some portraits too? I’ll bet you did!
Yes it has a produced feel but it’s well done. Congratulations on turning this fantasy into a memory!
January 30, 2012 at 6:44 pm
Gorgeous! Keep going, Scott & Garance. Ah, another one in july, please
January 30, 2012 at 6:52 pm
this is really touching and i cant pin point why..it seems so calm and beautiful. there seems to be affection and reverence between this group. its a shame its so short i want more
come on..judging kanye that way without giving your reason(some of you) thats just unnecessary
January 30, 2012 at 6:53 pm
Inspiring! This reminds me of the Algonquin Round Table how they would meet, but style and fashion are interchanged for literature games & witticisms!
January 30, 2012 at 6:54 pm
This is wonderful, thanks for sharing. And thank you so much for the blog and giving the small town kids like myself a glimpse into this well-dressed world.
Fantastic Scott, Pure poetry. Inspiring. Lobb’s polished and ready!

hm, should have switched to color at some point…when? that is left as an exercise to the reader :)

First time commenting here… this was such a beautiful celebration of your work and life. I loved watching every second of it. It is a joy to view your work, every day. All the best to you!
January 30, 2012 at 7:27 pm
I do wish this video was in color as well. I think of Italy so much in terms of color, especially in the way in which the men dress, wish we could’ve had those details in this video as well.
Love the concept, the atmosphere, the unique personalities involved . . . all except for Kanye West, that is . . .
January 30, 2012 at 7:48 pm
Could this be done with women of a certain age? Is there a man here under 40? Could one hope to find something done as well with women of the same age? It would be so inspiring.
January 30, 2012 at 8:05 pm
I have a “pitch” for you: why don’t you do a show like Anthony Bourdain’s “No Reservation”? You can travel around the world searching for stylish men and ladies; the show can delve into the
background lives of these “style makers”. Everyone from the
stylish interns working in a fashion house to the top names in the
fashion industry can be represented. You can showcase the little known tailors, shoe makers, shirt makers, boutique owners,
little known fashion districts, indie labels, etc… of each town you visit. You can do for the fashion crowd what Bourdain has done for cooks: make the general audience appreciate fashion as a valid and essential art form, not a vapid and narcissistic endeavor. Pitch it to the Travel Channel….I am sure they will be interested in a show with a hip and urbane audience. If travel and food can work, why not travel and beautiful clothes? It is a natural fit….let me know what you think. :)
January 30, 2012 at 8:06 pm

Whether the medium is photography
the love shines through.
January 30, 2012 at 8:20 pm
@Andrew, indeed. You literally spoke the words out of my mouth. Most of the people see Kanye West as a rap artist only and to be honest his ego is indeed a bit overrated too, but that’s no the point.
But, he is a hard working man. Instead of making music only, he also opened a clothing line named by her mother (DONDA). He is such a creativity person compared to other artists.
I think this lunch will bring up his ideas to share and to hear someones ideas.
Forget people’s background, think the future.
January 30, 2012 at 8:38 pm
why does this make me cry? Your speech was so touching! And it was wonderful seeing all these fabulously dressed, inspiring gentlemen together. (Although I am a 63-year-old woman and I don’t wear suits, I have gotten plenty of inspiration and just plain old visual delight from your men.) I especially enjoyed the outfits of the man in the polka-dotted bow tie with striped shirt and the Asian-looking gentleman with long-ish white hair and black frame glasses (I don’t know who they are). The only complaint is that I didn’t get to see each of the 25 and dwell on their outfits. The video was too short. Thank you for bringing us with you to Florence.
January 30, 2012 at 8:52 pm
this makes me so happy!
love, love, love, love, love!
January 30, 2012 at 9:09 pm
I love the video compilation of the lunch. Great idea to bring together stylistic people to meet and forge new friendships. You’ve tracked so many of them for such a period of time, to see them all together is breathtaking. Thank you for sharing. Have to admit – would love to have been a fly on the wall to hear the conversations that transpired. Are they as interesting as they look?
January 30, 2012 at 9:11 pm
Brilliant Scott ! I am sending this off to my son who is just beginning to think about style and fashion as a high school boy in New Hampshire. You open eyes and inspire.
January 30, 2012 at 9:12 pm
I know and love this place, and as soon as I saw the first few seconds of your absolutely ethereal film, I was transported back to this lovely place. It was our first night in Florence – and the first time in that beautiful town for both me and my partner. He and I ate like royalty – very simple, elegant royalty. Thanks for the reminder!

While I’m a daily frequenter of this blog (as many of us are) and often have wonderfully guttural reactions to the images and stories on this site , I’ve never been compelled to formally comment until this post. What an incredible concept and moment. This is so stunning and so lovely, I almost feel compelled to wrangle up all of the stylish New Yorkers I pass everyday on my walks to work or school to chat with them about this. Thank you for continuously propelling the kind of conversation and creativity that pushes all of us to test our sartorial limits.
What you said is so right. Through your (and Garance’s) sites, I can see the variety and depth of high fashion to street fashion on the globe while sitting in my small city. I just love it! Your work is so beautiful and inspiring. Thank you!!

This video is so charming. I love how it was filmed with no color because it makes it look that much more glamorous. the song gives it that old hollywood feel! so well done… i lived in Italy for a couple months last year and this video captured the real essence of Italian dining, no food, just conversations!
January 30, 2012 at 11:54 pm
That was simply amazing. Thank you for sharing. You knocked my Frye campus boots off with the style and attitude of that short film, simply beautiful.

January 31, 2012 at 12:28 am
Wow, Kanye’s ears are ringing out of control somewhere right now. Too many negative comments about Kanye. Yes, he has a huge ego. Yes, he is very outspoken. But that still doesn’t take away the fact that he is a true artist, and not just in his music. I saw some of his artwork many years ago that he made as an adolescent – it blew me away. This is a fashion blog – lets leave out politics and grudges.
January 31, 2012 at 12:33 am
their bow ties and outfits are incredible x
January 31, 2012 at 12:35 am
you should post a list of the attendees. perhaps with photos of their looks for the event.
January 31, 2012 at 12:37 am
lovely movie, don’t really see why Kanye has to be there
“we hope will become a biannual event that grows every year ”
does this mean it will be annual, or biannual?

Wow, can’t believe these group of gentlemen got together by the power of one man from Indiana.

Incredibly brilliant on a million levels.
It’s so generous and touching, so stylish, so real, so witty, and so chic.
The men are all so accomplished–and express their own style.
Kanye West…genius to include him.
And…the best haircuts on the planet all in one room. Key to style: good hair cut.
Congratulations. It is genius and so inspiring. I’ll be watching it many times and enjoying each time.
A million thanks, DIANE

I loved the video! They’re all so classy and chic, and I reckon that it looks even better in black and white than it would in color.
January 31, 2012 at 2:49 am
I always atttend Pitti in January and June to buy for my shop in Paris. This is my favorite restaurant, and I got lucky being there on this particular day. I was seated in the next room at a table where I had a “view” on this sea of wonderfully dressed men. As an everyday reader of Sartorialist, I recognised a “happening” upon arriving in front of the restaurant and spotting Scott chatting with a few of these gentlemen.
What I greatly appreciated was the diversity of Scott’s guests. Each unique with his own highly personal “savoir faire”. What made me feel good, however, was Scott’s speech. I heard each and every word. He acknowledged the moment with generosity and sincerity. He was very humble before his guests. He was a gentleman in the best sense of the word.
So, I thank you, Scott, for making us proud of who you are……..
January 31, 2012 at 3:12 am
This is absolutely brilliant, what classy man and what a lovely place you’ve selected.
What’s the date for the Lunch for 25, Women edition? :)
Scott, that was absolutely amazing. It just blew me off. Was smiling all the time. Thanks for that.

I would of loved to hear some of the conversations! It was like seeing all the charisma and personalities that shine through on the photos of the blog come to life; really fantastic. Can’t wait to see more of this in the future!

Thanks so much on making and sharing such amazing video. I have already watched it 5 times in a row and pretty sure I will find out more interesting things the more time I watch it. +1 vote for color version!

January 31, 2012 at 9:13 am
This makes me so inexplicably happy! Great idea, Scott.
January 31, 2012 at 9:15 am
A visual feast! Any chance of listing the names of the attendees so I can search on your site for other photos of them?
January 31, 2012 at 9:19 am
Best fashion story etc. etc. and you filmed in black and white?
January 31, 2012 at 9:20 am
I love this idea so much!!!!! The food looks amazing, the conversation seems fun and interesting just from some of the looks and expressions the men were showing. Though i am a woman i would have loved to have attended this lunch. All the men no matter what race or age they all look amazingly well put together and I love that you can see their personality portrayed through their style. Love, Love, Love. :)
January 31, 2012 at 9:29 am
This was fun watching, great group of mature men, dressed naturally and originally. And then Kanye came into view. No way he fits in w/this distinguished group.
January 31, 2012 at 9:33 am
That looks like so much fun but what did you all eat and what time did it finish? What a room of classy looking guys!
January 31, 2012 at 9:37 am
I am a young man growing up in Indiana, and I am inspired daily by your inspirational images. Thank you very much for this video, and your website.
January 31, 2012 at 10:01 am
It seems that Kanye and Scott are friends…insulting Kanye is impolite and disrespectful to Scott…so I’ve forgiven Kanye for that stunt he pulled at that awards show…that was my only beef with him.
January 31, 2012 at 10:02 am
I love seeing things like this because it keeps reminds me to be thankful about the guys who have paved the way for men of style. With some many young men in menswear, I think sometimes that message is lost. People have been in the game for a long time, there is really no such thing as overnight success in a style career…maybe in business…but not in style and the study of fashion.
January 31, 2012 at 10:05 am
I’ve been following your blog since day one. What you accomplished is simply a coup, to get all those men in the same room?! No one…absolutely… no one could have pulled that off! You have just elevated yourself to MJ level…Jackson or Jordan! No blog can ever touch anything like this…
January 31, 2012 at 10:07 am
cool,cool, ultimate cool!
January 31, 2012 at 10:14 am
Great video, I enjoyed it. Altough, I’d rather watch it in colour so we can also see how your guests look “in reality”. Maybe a colourful version?
January 31, 2012 at 10:23 am
Such a heartful celebration ! You look so young among them !
January 31, 2012 at 10:25 am

January 31, 2012 at 11:41 am
Mon amis, it is beautiful, and next time i hope to see some people who represent women’s style? or will Garance be doing that?

Wow, how fabulous! Wish I could of heard the topics of conversation there though.
January 31, 2012 at 4:25 pm
Woww…simple amazing…Lino, Renato, Ricci Brothers, Simone, Nick, and others…
BUT Kanye West????? I agree with Laura and Filippo …. I think Kanye West is out of this “context” … a fish out of water!!!
January 31, 2012 at 4:42 pm
Wow I truly love this short film! It captures the moment perfectly. the editing is great and the music in the background is a lovely touch. its amazing that you got to put this lunch together to celebrate fashion and the contribution these men have made to your blog, bravo!
January 31, 2012 at 4:45 pm
This brought a tear to my eye. This video is so beautiful. It is a testiment to what you have created and brought to the world at large.
January 31, 2012 at 5:24 pm
This totally moved my heart and my soul so I couldn’t resist to say how I admire this idea! J’adore!
This idea is brilliant! I believe you will make this happen again and again… and share this spirit around the world!
January 31, 2012 at 5:38 pm
So inspiring! Thank you!
January 31, 2012 at 6:07 pm
I believe we live in a world in which so many things should be done so differently than they are being done now, nonetheless (and specially in Italy!) we not so often times find ourselves in front of magnificent examples of how wonderful, beautiful, creative and exhilarating men (and women, please don’t get me wrong) can be, and you, alongside all of these fantastically charming characters, is, most certainly, one of those cases.
A fan from Brazil.
January 31, 2012 at 6:41 pm
Thanks for this great initiative. I really appreciate your work.
January 31, 2012 at 6:47 pm
I would love to hear the conversations going on between these guys. These people are iconic and having them all in ONE is amazing. It’s the fashion worlds version of the Skull and Bones.
January 31, 2012 at 6:48 pm
Perfect video! Enjoyed the beginning with the butcher and waiters setting the tables… Everyone looks so good! I like the men with the bow tie and Kanya’s style too! Brilliant!
January 31, 2012 at 6:56 pm
January 31, 2012 at 7:12 pm
Love it. Beautiful and stylish. Thx.
January 31, 2012 at 9:03 pm
yes, a beautiful little film, and certainly a group of well dressed, and no doubt interesting, people, but why just men and not women as well
This is a fantastic look inside the world of men’s fashion. The video’s dreamlike quality reflects your dreams and aspirations!
January 31, 2012 at 10:34 pm
What a great piece of film. Wonderful music in the background. It is very joyful while still being atmospheric. What a great meeting of men.
January 31, 2012 at 10:52 pm
Beautifully shot. Love the contrast.
January 31, 2012 at 11:20 pm
January 31, 2012 at 11:32 pm
i adore the energy. simply breathtaking.
post a guestlist perhaps?!
January 31, 2012 at 11:50 pm
Are there plans for a women’s “Lunch for 25?” Otherwise, (despite my personal preference for menswear) I find it perplexing that no women were invited to this event. Are there not just as many women at the forefront of style and fashion? Also, as beautifully as all of these men are dressed, they seem to lack an overall stylistic diversity. Maybe it’s just me, but this lunch seems to contradict so much of what this site celebrates. What I love (and have loved) about this site is your ability to collect evidence of so many individualized styles and ways to carry oneself.
February 1, 2012 at 1:16 am
Wow…simply amazing! I so wish I could have listened in on the conversations. Please make this a repeating event. This site just keeps getting better, and better…
February 1, 2012 at 1:40 am
Im tryna be at the next lunch meeting
February 1, 2012 at 2:31 am
Loved it! Mostly, what a delight it is to watch a movie where you can actually feel the time and love is spent to make it, nowadays people are all about what you can see and forget to take care of the way we see it, but for me that is maybe even more important. Keep going, and I suggest you make more of this lovely films for us to get that touch of quality that makes our day.
February 1, 2012 at 2:42 am
beyond wonderful, but i do so wish it was in color, to see each man’s palette of the day.
February 1, 2012 at 3:15 am
Heaven although I cannot seem to get an access to this video or any videos here particularly. Can someone help me? the pictures and articles are fine like usual do.

February 1, 2012 at 3:18 am
OMG !!! OTT !!! Every time I visit this site I am bombarded with overt psychophancy. This video seems to be about a bunch of middle-aged men having lunch together to celebrate what is, in essence, total froth.
Do none of you recognize what is happening in the world that the vast majority of people live in?
February 1, 2012 at 4:16 am
Soo Beautiful! Everytime I watch this I end up with a very happy face and a biiig smile from ear to ear on my face. Love it!
February 1, 2012 at 4:22 am

February 1, 2012 at 9:25 am
This video makes me feel very uncomfortable.
February 1, 2012 at 9:43 am
February 1, 2012 at 9:55 am
I’d love to see a documentary where these gentlemen talk about their background, upbringing, everyday life, style, tastes etc. That would be interesting. Also, I loved that the lunch took place in Italy.
February 1, 2012 at 10:40 am
How awesome is that??? Great job Scott! And Gaga thanks for the great idea :)
February 1, 2012 at 11:18 am
How delightful! This is a sartorialist’s dream. Garance and you make a good team!

February 1, 2012 at 12:34 pm
When I saw this video on tumblr this morning it made me smile. If only life could imitate the same type of camaraderie the world would be a much better place for all of us.
February 1, 2012 at 12:39 pm
Great job!! could you identify all the participants? Also was that Will lurking in the background? what a bore that man is he really should save his money as his clothes do nothing for him
February 1, 2012 at 1:32 pm
I am absolutely in love with this video and the whole concept of inviting your “style-icons” to lunch together in this super chic place. I’ve been following your blog for years and that gave me a great chance to learn to appreciate men’s fashion more than womens fashion actually… Where I come from, male “part” of the society still has no interest in clothes, style and the idea of fashion these gentelmen represent. I’m hoping that some day that will change and I’ll be able to walk the streets full of classy chic individuals who understand that truely excuisite style is timeless and that fashion is a way to communicate without having to speak. Thanks so much for all the inspirations I find here every day.
February 1, 2012 at 2:16 pm
Could you just tell me who was the artist singing in the background? I need so much this kind of music, that would introduce me into the perfect mood for this evening.
February 1, 2012 at 2:54 pm
Thanks Scott, a lovely video and a lovely concept. These are hard times in Italy, but looking at your work I’m reminded of the beauty of my country.
February 1, 2012 at 3:41 pm
Ohh the style of the men … inspiring and beautiful
Hope some day you do a series on men’s beards, mustaches etc
February 1, 2012 at 3:56 pm
Awesome I don’t dress up every day but when I do the styles of these guys are definetly my lane
February 1, 2012 at 4:00 pm
February 1, 2012 at 5:10 pm
I enjoyed this so much. What a wonderful group of men. Also this had me remembering my love of fine fabrics. The jackets were divine.
February 1, 2012 at 8:25 pm
Love this! So elegant & graceful. Perhaps a Lunch for 25… Women in the future??
February 1, 2012 at 8:31 pm
What a feat! et… Quelle fête!
There is so much magic in this video. I can only imagine that the room felt the same!
February 1, 2012 at 8:34 pm
This is simply amazing. Do you have a color version?
February 1, 2012 at 8:56 pm
was hoping for some more content actually.. all the video seems to be saying is “i know yeezy”.. yawn
February 1, 2012 at 10:18 pm
This was just so enjoyable to watch. An ensemble of elegant and well-dressed men, sitting down to lunch and sharing insights. I love that you chose to finish it in b&w, which evokes an old-school style and atmosphere that blended so well with the decor of the restaurant. (I have to admit, it would be lovely to see a colour version as well, I would love to see the colour combinations of all those outfits!)
February 2, 2012 at 1:24 am
My favourite part, which by the way I think was intentional, was when the camera panned to the right and all of the sudden you saw Kanye West the break of the sea of faces. Loved it.
Kind of gasped.
February 2, 2012 at 5:38 am
Have seen pictures of the lunch, and discovered the video today. Thanks man – you made my day.
February 2, 2012 at 7:43 am
For the first time in my life I wish I was a stylish man! Your blog is always so inspiring! You sometimes represent a certain italian taste better than an italian person would. Thank you!
February 2, 2012 at 8:08 am
Please, you must show us a longer video and let us hear the dialogue that these men used.
February 2, 2012 at 9:04 am
Wonderful. If I can be so bold, resist the temptation for Garance to host the ladies’ equivalent alone and do it together: your union will bond the disparate gathering and even a single male presence amongst women selected for their style choices should serve to focus, flatter and soften any hum of competitiveness:)
February 2, 2012 at 10:48 am
I love this! Just beautiful and inspiring!
February 2, 2012 at 12:01 pm
It`s amazing!!! Thank you very much!:)
February 2, 2012 at 1:49 pm
this is just beautiful. well done :) you are and have always been the only blog i look at faithfully. or at all. I liked someone’s idea of you doing a tv show. I am a fashion intern in australia and i too wish that the world of beautiful clothes was shown to the world as an art form and not just a narcissistic indulgence. There is not enough of this beauty spread around the world for everyone to see. film only bring it more to life. the short film preview in colour was stunning.
I enjoyed the variety of guests and the varied ages. And of course Kanye West was brilliant. Let me ask those people who claim he has an ego…do you know Kanye West personally? No, that is just silly. Of course you don’t. So how can you even begin to know who he is, or what his intentions or thoughts are. perhaps his worst fault is being shy/socially awkward and that of believing in himself. Who are you to judge anyone? Perhaps his confidence and belief in himself is what sets him apart and makes him the incredible man he is. Perhaps his mother taught him to believe in himself because no one else would and hence why he is the only rap artist that has truly crossed genre’s and become apart of the pop culture world. I think he is a beautifully talented, stylish man. And a genius at the very least.
February 2, 2012 at 1:55 pm
Simply outstanding, bravo.
February 2, 2012 at 2:17 pm
Love the italians – fab glamour – Italian women wear blue mojito designer kaftans So cool http://www.bluemojito.co.uk
February 2, 2012 at 3:42 pm
Very amazing video!
February 2, 2012 at 5:18 pm
So great to see a good chunk of the male sartorialists in one beautiful and equally classy room. Made my heart smile seeing them all interact! Editing was really well done, loved the black and white feel, however I thought it would’ve been nice to have a few seconds at the end with color to show off the efforts in their sartorialism!
February 2, 2012 at 8:38 pm
February 3, 2012 at 12:10 pm
Thank you! This made my day. And I adore the shots in the kitchen.
February 3, 2012 at 12:13 pm
Oh, and thank you for the idea! I am a chef who knows wonderful, fashionable lady chefs and I am going to the same here in Venice, Ca. !!!
February 3, 2012 at 12:17 pm
fantastic, irresistible! thank you.
February 3, 2012 at 12:30 pm
I wish this was feature length. I’ve watched it four times already.
February 3, 2012 at 1:00 pm
I grew up in Italy and then moved elsewhere and this really sums up a lot of the things that make Italy so great. Style, simplicity, attention to detail, class but also ease. This video/ concept is so great.
February 3, 2012 at 2:59 pm
Amazing, Beautiful, Classic, Confident, Sexy, Interesting!!! Please have a girls lunch.
February 3, 2012 at 3:26 pm
Wonderful!!! Really enjoyed watching it. Thank you!
February 3, 2012 at 3:43 pm
Dearest Mr. Scott (Sartorialist) Schuman,
What an utterly enchanting piece.
And I can honestly say I’ve never before used the term enchanting to describe a room full of lunching men but an exception is most necessary in this instance. I’ve watched it at least 5 times now and am pretty positive that I’ll watch it again once I complete this comment.
I now fervently wish to know each gentleman’s story and how they came to be at your divine lunch. I must agree that I’d love to see a documentary on it and how it all came about. I don’t doubt it was an adventure in itself to pull it all together. Basically Mr. Schuman you can’t tease us like this we desire, wish, need & hope for more.
You and you’re team did an outstanding job. And man oh what a guest list!
February 3, 2012 at 5:25 pm
I spent a pleasant few seconds watching until I saw K-WEST. I could type all night long about why you ought not, nor should anyone but a fanatical fan of poor taste send out an invitation to lunch with this…man, Kanye West; but that’s my opinion and this is your site and that was your lunchtime party.
I too would have preferred colour so I could make better judgements of their style merits, still, black & white rarely fails to intrigue and I really paid more attention to texture.
The bloke in the tweed jacket with the t shirt peering through was among my favourites, as were the white man with locks, the first waiter and the old Italian looking men.
February 3, 2012 at 6:00 pm
So many different styles, both taste and personality … fashion is truly a world free of prejudice.
All blends, all combine but above all common sense is the one dictating the rules. This is my private universe!!!
February 3, 2012 at 9:07 pm
Reminds me that men really do look better with age. Wonderfully shot.
February 3, 2012 at 10:42 pm
This is visually impeccable!!! due to all that great style in one room.
Love everything about it especially the concept.
February 4, 2012 at 12:37 am
Love, love, love this post!!
I’m specially in love with Gianluca.
All the different styles and personalities, exquisite!
February 4, 2012 at 4:14 am
Magnifico! You’ve been creating the new place to be in the world… Tanks for this amazing video
February 4, 2012 at 11:27 am
I don’t like this at all. Too self-conscious. This is how all the great little trattorias are ruined.
February 4, 2012 at 12:53 pm
Absolutly fantastic and inspiring!! What a brilliant idea with perfect execution!
February 4, 2012 at 1:13 pm
What a good feeling to see every man there! maravilloso almuerzo! maravilloso video!
February 4, 2012 at 2:29 pm
Thank you very much for sharing. This is so cool
February 4, 2012 at 3:43 pm
Scott, This is incredibly enjoyable to view, time and time again. Your speech is wonderful, not overstated, but to the point, and on point! I know in the past you have listed a few key spots of interest in NYC to visit, but are there any new key destinations that have been discovered of late? My fiance and I have a month to explore in March….it has been ten years since last being in New York, long overdue visit. Regards, J.O Auckland, N.Z
February 4, 2012 at 5:20 pm
just one question; why black and white…?
I really want to see how those people matched colors!!!!!!!!
anyways, it was so great to see
February 6, 2012 at 1:18 am
I lived in Florence last year for 4 months and saw people dressed like this all the time. It was like living in a movie. I miss Italy!
February 6, 2012 at 9:46 am
“It seems that Kanye and Scott are friends…insulting Kanye is impolite and disrespectful to Scott”
Don’t be so soft in the head! This is a blog….something put out there for anyone and everyone to comment on. Just because people do not agree with Scott’s choices doesn’t make it ‘disrespectful’ otherwise lock off the ability to comment or just send the blog to sycophants only.
“Let me ask those people who claim he has an ego…do you know Kanye West personally? No, that is just silly. Of course you don’t. So how can you even begin to know who he is, or what his intentions or thoughts are. ”
Are you for real? It seems you’re insulting everyone else’s intelligence as even Ray Charles can see how much of a plum he’s been. I get he wants to sell CDs and clothes but if you choose to be that way then accept what comes with it.
“imma let you finish….”
February 6, 2012 at 4:49 pm
What is the name of the song in the video?
February 7, 2012 at 12:33 pm
Who is the African-American with the hat and Ray-Bans in the video?
February 8, 2012 at 10:50 am
Congrats on such an amazing movie! Style was present everywhere and I love the Italian atmosphere! The camera work was fanastic – it made the viewers feel like we were right there.
February 9, 2012 at 4:07 pm
Exactly what I would do if I were you! Beautiful to see. And interestingly eclectic, given your love for traditional menswear. Style has changed so much, for the better, I think.
I like the black and white, elegant video, but agree with others that I also want to see them in color.
February 11, 2012 at 6:31 am
La giostra….. nice food in florence..:D
February 14, 2012 at 11:09 am
I am nuts about this video… it is simply pure perfection. I love it so much that I actually illustrated it out. You can view it

A very beautiful video. Fashion is truly a world free of prejudice
