This makes me really smile. Friday and of to a slumber-party.
Great happy picture.
Wishes for a lovely weekend with long mornings in bed. :)
October 7, 2011 at 9:13 am
What a glam ‘pyjama’ look! Love the print on the pants!
October 7, 2011 at 9:18 am
Beautiful girl, but unsure whether this is a uniform or pyjamas. Lovely light on her hair, though, and the outfit looks comfy
October 7, 2011 at 9:23 am
Nice shot but the outfit’s a Granny style?
October 7, 2011 at 9:24 am
I love the lighting & the tangram pants ;)
Beautiful young lady…but…it looks like she’s going to a slumber party
October 7, 2011 at 9:31 am
I love those pajamas! This blog is the best
October 7, 2011 at 9:33 am
Nice trousers, and beautiful light in the photo
i am a bit confused! is it a Pj or a Nurse uniforme!!! or is it her own outfit, if so! in a way i will say how crazy but also how unique and great, she did pull it of very!!!
October 7, 2011 at 9:35 am
She looks gorgeous
October 7, 2011 at 9:37 am
I live in Milan and I think that fashion is in the air <3
October 7, 2011 at 9:42 am
October 7, 2011 at 9:44 am
Oh my, what is this?
Pj’s on the street!
October 7, 2011 at 9:47 am
you`ve got to be courageous to present pyjama as a casual shirt…
October 7, 2011 at 9:54 am
No, pajamas are not outerwear no matter how cute.
October 7, 2011 at 9:56 am
Me gusta la combinación pero en otro color.
October 7, 2011 at 9:59 am
I’m not sure PJ top is my favorite.
Prada pants ?
October 7, 2011 at 10:01 am
Wow, just not sure if I’m in love with the pajama trend. Maybe just pants, but the whole suit? Well she looks relaxed and happy.
Not a fan of this
October 7, 2011 at 10:03 am
Kids have been wearing their pjs out in the world for a while now.
the light on her face emphasizes her radiant smile. her outfit looks very comfortable.
October 7, 2011 at 10:05 am
Well, she’s a beautiful woman but this outfit is a total failure…..
October 7, 2011 at 10:10 am
What a difference from the dirty, saggy pajama looks women sport in some parts of the US! this version is done right!
The Calvin Show
October 7, 2011 at 10:11 am
She probably would have looked uber fly if maybe she picked a more tailored top, no? Cute trousers!
October 7, 2011 at 10:12 am
I don’t like loose shirt + loose trousers!
October 7, 2011 at 10:15 am
Not for us I’m afraid x
It’s cool to wear PJs, now?
Have you seen:
i love the PJ look …..this one is tooo PJ i like a softer silky fabric
October 7, 2011 at 10:16 am
Very Pajama :O
October 7, 2011 at 10:21 am
I wish I look this great when I get out of bed.
October 7, 2011 at 10:24 am
Beautiful lady, not feeling the PJ look on public. I’m all for looking comfortable but not as comfortable as you literally stepped put of the bed & hit the road. Only works for 2 year olds. Sorry!
October 7, 2011 at 10:25 am
These are very nice looking pajamas, but please not on the street. I hope this trend fades quickly.
October 7, 2011 at 10:27 am
This girl is quite enlightened with her white pyj !!!
The Fancy Teacup
Instantly coveted her darling pants.
October 7, 2011 at 10:31 am
Did she forget to get dressed in the morning???
October 7, 2011 at 10:33 am
Sorry, I just don’t get this trend. While the pyjama is in itself the classic and classy man’s pyjama that we all know, and while maybe Ryan Gossling can pull it off once at a red carpet premiere, this isn’t working for me. In my view, it’s just someone who’s decided to go to work in his/her PJs.
Heck, I’ve worned my pyjama pants a few times when going to the food hall back in college, but I wasn’t trying to pass it off for anything other than what it actually was.
October 7, 2011 at 10:36 am
love! so beautiful!!
Pujama chic? No way. A pj motif on clothes or some pj hint would be accaptable by me but this I find not wearable.
The girl looks very nice though!
Kisses from Greece!

An Olatz pajama top?
Hey, it works for Julian Schnabel.
October 7, 2011 at 10:38 am
totally dislike pjs in public
October 7, 2011 at 10:40 am
What a sweet face!

October 7, 2011 at 10:46 am
I wear shirts that reminds me a pyjamas but ‘m not shure if I could wear a pyjamas on the street.I would look like I was escaped from a hospital.
October 7, 2011 at 10:48 am
It’s a pity we cannot see the heels….i think they could change the complete outlook…personally, I dont specially like it.
October 7, 2011 at 10:50 am
Methinks this takes sprezzatura a little too far … even for a doyen of effortlessness like your good self
October 7, 2011 at 10:51 am
It’s not the first time that I see this type of outfit, I really like it, but here in Montreal I don’t think people are ready to wear pyj. outfit to go out :(
October 7, 2011 at 10:53 am
Sorry, but no. Looks lazy.
October 7, 2011 at 10:57 am
Already I have spotted people walking around town in their pyjamas. This look will do nothing to discourage that – unfortunately.
October 7, 2011 at 10:58 am
yeah… not feeling this whole pj thing. looks frumpy
October 7, 2011 at 11:01 am
rag and bone blouse!
i think she dressed it up quite nicely–looks cute
October 7, 2011 at 11:02 am
She is very beautiful but the shirt looks like a pajama and I do not like. Nice pants
October 7, 2011 at 11:06 am
Those are pajamas!
Still cute though.
October 7, 2011 at 11:13 am
Simple and fabulous! The light is perfect for this photo, sutil movement, sutil smile, so elegant…just perfect to my eyes!
These pajamas are a delightful look. When an absence of structure is called for, pajamas are what the style doctor prescribes.
There are plenty of ways to stylishly pull off a pjs-look. In this case, I would add a pair of dangly earrings.
You go, girl!
October 7, 2011 at 11:16 am
This is awful. I’m not a fan of the pajama look in general, but if you’re going to do it, at least make it interesting and mix it with a well-cut jean or a structured top.
October 7, 2011 at 11:19 am
October 7, 2011 at 11:25 am
No. No matter how cute you are, or how chic they may be, wearing pyjamas in public looks lazy.
October 7, 2011 at 11:30 am
I’m loving the resurrection of pajamas as street-wear!
October 7, 2011 at 11:36 am
Really nice woman and nice outfit but I think it looks too much like a pijiama…
October 7, 2011 at 11:40 am
Love the top half but would have loved the entire look with faded jeans and wedge desert boots.
October 7, 2011 at 11:43 am
I think those pieces are great separately, but as everyone pointed, too close to pajamas as an ensemble. The shirt with a tailored trouser? or the pants with a slinky tank? golden.
Kacie @ A Collection of Passions
October 7, 2011 at 11:58 am
Oh my. I love it, actually. The looks is very chic and appropriate for a espresso with your lover?
October 7, 2011 at 11:59 am
no. no. no. It is never ok to wear pajamas in public. Unless, of course, you intend to send the message that you don’t care enough about yourself to even bother getting dressed.
October 7, 2011 at 12:10 pm
I like the printed pants but the shirt looks like my mom’s pj’s
October 7, 2011 at 12:15 pm
it’s very different from what I would expect from the Sartorialist but I guess that’s what makes this look appealing.
It’s very different in a sense that I expect this look to be seen in a bedroom setting, but the car, the busy background makes it look very out of place. I wonder what her footwear was, I suspect a pointy stilettos (now THAT would make a difference)
October 7, 2011 at 12:23 pm
She looks pretty but the pyjamas are a total NO-NO for me – no matter how designed or fabulous – they will always be somehing for home/bedroom/holidays by the beach.
October 7, 2011 at 12:33 pm
@ Antonia; Nurses wear scrubs. Those are NOT even close. Maybe in Sweden they do, of course. It not only looks like a silky men’s PJ top, it may very well be one. It looks wonderful. Of course she looks like the picture of health, happiness and prettiness.
October 7, 2011 at 12:40 pm
I really don’t understand the problem. If an article of clothing is pretty, sufficiently modest, and comfortable, what could be wrong with wearing it? Just because it is designated as “pajama”? Obviously she didn’t sleep in it. No sane person would wear something that structured to bed anyway. Normal people sleep in worn out t shirts or nothing at all. So why not let a lovely top be seen?
October 7, 2011 at 12:45 pm
Really?! It’s kind of crazy to me that so many people are loving this in the comments here. I’m not against pjs in public, I think maybe over a pair of skinny jeans or something like that that would contrast more with it stylistically, it might work, but really it looks like she has pajamas over pajamas. Not a fan.
October 7, 2011 at 12:47 pm
yeahhhh this is taking pajama style a little too far. I only like it when its the shirt or the pants, not both together
October 7, 2011 at 12:54 pm
Pyjama Chic – who would have thought it and yet there it is!
October 7, 2011 at 12:59 pm
I love the retro pyjamas, somehow I never seem to pull that one off myself. I’m tracing the new designer vintage trends for spring/summer 2012. Would love to see if you agree on my spotting an Audrey Hepburn look @ Valentino http://www.luxos.com/magazine/vintage-clothing-trend

October 7, 2011 at 1:40 pm
Beautiful PJ-inspired outfit. Interesting. When I visited Shanghai, there were lots of people out in the evening (18:00>) wearing silk pyjamas.
October 7, 2011 at 1:44 pm
you cut off her house slippers. i’m sure they were cute
October 7, 2011 at 1:50 pm
Pretty girl emerging from the shadow into the sun ..
Hair pulled back, minimal makeup, no jewelry, and a simple strap for a bag that we cant see ..
Not sure of her occupation if this is indicative of any job description,
If only there was a glimpse of her shoes – could tell some tales.
October 7, 2011 at 1:55 pm
Wonderful! So solid colors AND playful. Love it. She does too. Happy clothes.
October 7, 2011 at 2:09 pm
such a beautiful woman, the fashion goes out the window
October 7, 2011 at 2:11 pm
Although these PJs are nicer than most I see people wearing outdoors, I still don’t think they should leave one’s house.
October 7, 2011 at 2:46 pm
college girls wear less expensive versions of this to class. not interesting.
October 7, 2011 at 2:47 pm
“Wear your pajamas to work” day?
hahahah soo funny.. and amazing prints though
Rebecca The Red
October 7, 2011 at 2:48 pm
She’s indeed gorgeous, but I’m not sure I’m a very big fan of the pajama look.
October 7, 2011 at 2:49 pm
Every mature man in the world knows what she was aiming for–a big smile!
And with her radiant smile, I bet she was bathed in smles all day.
This might be her ultimate statement regarding “casual Fridays.” When you “own” the world like her, you can be playful with your personal style, too.
October 7, 2011 at 2:50 pm
Her clothes reming me of a nurse. However, I do like and appreciate the colour coordination.
October 7, 2011 at 2:53 pm
Wonderful lighting and her blouse is remaniscent of the PJ’s my grandfather wore. Thanks for reminding me.. he was the best man I ever knew.
October 7, 2011 at 3:00 pm
Fantastic – PJs as daywear. Comfort and form… ;-)
October 7, 2011 at 3:08 pm
October 7, 2011 at 3:11 pm
H&M :)) love it!soo cute!
October 7, 2011 at 3:30 pm
Really? She wore this – outside? Good for her. I love the smile on her face too. She seems to be saying – “yeah, I know, but what?!” Love this – totally different than anything else you’ve featured. Happy Friday! xo
October 7, 2011 at 3:38 pm
Lovely girl, lovely pjs, lovely photo, but no pjs in public. Its not chic, its not modern, its not classy or fashionable, its a no.
October 7, 2011 at 3:55 pm
Pajamas are meant for bed, not for the street. Unless you’re homeless. No excuses.
October 7, 2011 at 4:00 pm
She’s pretty, but this just looks wierd to me–in the U.S. this was something college kids did when they were lazy, and even they have mostly stopped.
une chatte grise
October 7, 2011 at 4:02 pm
I certainly don’t see anything wrong with or unappealing about pajamas (in ensemble or as elements) in public per se. That top would look great with a pair of slim jeans, and as Cassandra says, the pants would look fab with a tank. And I have no argument with folks just deciding, “Screw it, I feel like wearing pj’s today. Pass the hot cocoa.”
What I do find tiresome is the sort of faux-daring attitude that often comes with wearing pj’s in public–”Ooh, look, I’m wearing jammies outside. Mom would be sooooo mad!” There’s also its counterpart, the faux-indifferent–”Whatevs. I so don’t care what you think. I’m wearing (perfectly matched and clean and cute) jammies to the store.”
My philosophy is this: if you pick a look or an attitude, own it. (And pass the hot cocoa!)
October 7, 2011 at 4:04 pm
maybe a more considered hairstyle and makeuping? the pj’s and the “natural look” and no accessories……blechhh. right now, the pj’s are wearing her.
October 7, 2011 at 6:09 pm
thousand times thank-you for the post.
and welcome to the debate……..this seems to be long way the entry with more NOS in this blog history.
She’s herself, obviously she’s not looking for acceptance. That’s the point, creating the rules, not just following them. Translating our own moods, listening to ourselves, never asking for permission………..
I love so many of the people on here and get why they are, but this…I just don’t get other than she’s really pretty. PJs in public and actually being celebrated? Is it because they are designer PJs? I don’t know, but I bet they are. I bet if I went out in my JCrew / Old Navy PJs I wouldn’t be on this website (not that I ever would because I live in Calgary, Canada). This is just wrong on so many levels….
October 7, 2011 at 6:33 pm
Pajamas… not so sure about this. She is cute but I am not feeling the look.
October 7, 2011 at 6:38 pm
Seriously? Are these pajamas? I guess I don’t see the appeal.
October 7, 2011 at 6:39 pm
Beautiful! As always!
October 7, 2011 at 7:19 pm
In certain Northern towns in the UK, wearing PJs in the street in daytime is almost normal. Not great – but normal. At least this outfit is not adorned with teddy bears, but for me it has far too many familiar and most ‘un’ stylish connotations.
October 7, 2011 at 7:33 pm
I love her so much. Every photo you take of her is golden.
October 7, 2011 at 8:18 pm
Are you kidding me? Pajamas? What, were all her clothes at the cleaners?
October 7, 2011 at 8:31 pm
No. Just . . . no. The only reason to ever wear pajamas or a pajamas-like outfit in public is if you’re running from a burning building. And I don’t smell any smoke.
October 7, 2011 at 8:57 pm
Aawww, come on!–look at the cute little dogs on her pants; it’s an adorable design! And the pants are cut exquisitely. Nothing slap-dash about her ensemble. Fine lady. Fine fabrics.
October 7, 2011 at 9:25 pm
I cannot believe how many people are gushing over this pajama outfit (great photo, cute girl, yes).
The white pj’s top and fox-pattern bottom would look adorable if shot in someone’s home on a lazy Sunday morning on the sofa with a coffee, or lounging in bed.
But in public, it really looks odd.
October 7, 2011 at 10:31 pm
hrm looks like something i would enjoy wearing to bed…??
October 7, 2011 at 11:43 pm
She totally stole this from the Walmart shoppers in my town. :)
Shanghai PJ trend revived in Milan?
October 8, 2011 at 12:19 am
The shirt looks odd but she is cute chick..
October 8, 2011 at 1:04 am
Nice pic! But her outfit looks like pyjamas – I’m sure it would be comfortable though!
October 8, 2011 at 1:28 am
October 8, 2011 at 1:53 am
@ Monsieur Da Chump… I do believe those are cats.
(But perhaps I am biased, being une chatte and all.)
Either way, they are indeed adorable.
October 8, 2011 at 2:33 am
Fashion victim…and the proportions are off. Everything is too loose and the top is too long
October 8, 2011 at 3:14 am
i hope this is a nurse going to work on the children’s nursery…
October 8, 2011 at 3:29 am
October 8, 2011 at 4:22 am
what is she wearing on her feet? I can’t imagine what shoes would go with this outfit…
October 8, 2011 at 5:15 am
Pssst, Pssst! Marina, girlfriend, wake up! You’re sleep walking the streets in your PJ’s!
Silly girl, everybody knows only cats are allowed to wear pajamas outdoors.
Marina, wake up!
The life after
October 8, 2011 at 6:10 am
Oh gosh! This is not casual chic but casual Pyjama. Milan isn’t Shangai!! That’s just horrible for me!
October 8, 2011 at 6:39 am
To me this is an example of how crazy fashion can get. The PJ’s are lovely – for in a bedroom. Only!
October 8, 2011 at 7:06 am
Beautiful smile, not digging the pajama look
October 8, 2011 at 7:43 am
This pigiama style reminds me to the Dolce&Gabbana fashion show of some years ago.
October 8, 2011 at 7:45 am
Sorry, I wanted to say… pyjamas!
October 8, 2011 at 7:52 am
i DON’T’ LIKE IT’S A PIJAMA:::(((
October 8, 2011 at 8:01 am
Wish I could see more of the pants. But the top is not my favorite.
October 8, 2011 at 8:32 am
Nope. Not acceptable to leave your house in anything like this. I don’t care how nice your smile might be. Not cute. Not fashionable. Not good.
October 8, 2011 at 8:37 am
Great look ! Very last year, but still great!
October 8, 2011 at 10:17 am
She looks a little bit like she just got out of bed in her pijamas and run off in the street!
October 8, 2011 at 10:42 am
Esteemed commenter une chatte grise,
so cute to behold:
cats and dogs.
BTW, I was once blessed with un chat gris ( and his tabby sister) in my life.
October 8, 2011 at 10:59 am
I don’t care if wearing PJs is a trend, it’s still a no-no.
October 8, 2011 at 11:56 am
This outfit is so wrong in every sense. I don’t think that’s how you make a fashion statement. A pajama should be worn a home and not on the street. Faux pas!
October 8, 2011 at 12:01 pm
I’ll be honest, I’m not really digging the pyjama-esque top, but those pants are seriously adorbs. Would have loved to see her dress the pants up a little more!
October 8, 2011 at 12:37 pm
The outfit looks more like a Chef’s uniform… Not a fan.
October 8, 2011 at 12:47 pm
Although she’s an attractive woman, the look really isn’t original at all. We went to school like that in the 80s, to clubs like that in the 90s, and every slob thinks they can pull this look off now. In NYC, and on Long Island, I see this everyday, although not as polished.
Perhaps that’s the success of the photo, that she doesn’t look like a genuine slob.
Sadly, the greatest failure in the execution of the photo, is that we don’t see her shoes, which could bring the look to the next level. I suspect the were left out of the photo because there wasn’t any value added.
Still, LOVE The Satorialist!
All the best.
October 8, 2011 at 12:48 pm
She is so cute!
October 8, 2011 at 12:51 pm
She has every reason to smile. With such looks the world is at her feet and never mind what she is wearing the effect is ravishing.
October 8, 2011 at 12:53 pm
All that being said, the printed pants would be brilliant with handknit sweater of sorts. Perhaps the top, slightly more fitted with boy friend jeans.
October 8, 2011 at 5:44 pm
It’s like wearing a nurse’s smock as fashion. Not transcendent enough. Maybe with black tuzedo pants and better jewelry. It wears her
Ana Clara Almeida
October 8, 2011 at 6:14 pm
i love this look.
the pijamas are from PIAMITA.
October 8, 2011 at 6:32 pm
When i wear a pijama i prefer stay at home… anyway i love people who dare to!
October 8, 2011 at 9:56 pm
This is the perfect encapsulation of the difference in fashion between southern Europe and both North America and Europe north of the Alps. Italians are playful and have a flair for design and aesthetics that may at time rumple some feathers. At least they always seem to be having fun and enjoying life while doing it. Great photo. And yes, she is adorable.
October 8, 2011 at 11:19 pm
I love her cheeky smile like she knows she’s wearing pj’s and is happier than a *** in ****! ;O
October 9, 2011 at 1:06 am
I love PIAMITA!!! <3
the Geisha print is amazing!!!
October 9, 2011 at 1:12 am
I love PIAMITA!!
the Geisha print is Amazing!
October 9, 2011 at 3:03 am
not really a big fan of this look. i get the fad, but it’s overdone.
October 9, 2011 at 6:04 am
This trend with PJ’s on the street is so silly…Why, why? Only for those who want to call the attention to themselves…
October 9, 2011 at 7:00 am
This is PJ chic taken a little bit too literally? The natural makeup doesn’t help..but I still love it.
art deco engagement rings
October 9, 2011 at 7:32 am
Not a big fan….although shes very sweet!
October 9, 2011 at 8:21 am
Beautiful girl, she is barefoot i guess.
October 9, 2011 at 12:05 pm
No. Just no. I still see mostly young women wearing ratty two sizes too big pajamas and they cannot pull off the look. She doesn’t either.
October 9, 2011 at 1:13 pm
Why is she wearing PJs???
October 9, 2011 at 4:47 pm
Wow…even italian pajamas are stylish.
October 9, 2011 at 9:38 pm
I’m with Eugene here: Why didn’t you include her slippers in the frame?
October 9, 2011 at 10:24 pm
She is just too smooth!
October 9, 2011 at 10:53 pm
Nice PJ’s. But not for the street AT ALL!
October 9, 2011 at 11:23 pm
Making the “walk of shame” with some style?
October 10, 2011 at 2:44 am
Families in Shanghai go out in pijamas. Every time I see this i really cannot understand. Really? have the decency to take a shower, dress-up and go out. It’s such a bad habit, I can’t believe that someone has actually made a “pijama look” for the streets. Ridiculous.
October 10, 2011 at 2:52 am
October 10, 2011 at 3:00 am
I recently saw a GQ spread with Elizabeth Olsen (younger sister of the Olsen twins) in this and thought it was a stunning look. Loves it!

October 10, 2011 at 9:52 am
beautiful pj’s, but doesn’t look good outside the house…..
October 10, 2011 at 10:38 am
She rocks the pajama look !!! x
October 10, 2011 at 12:01 pm
This outfit reminds me a lot of what Alexa Chung just did for Madewell.
The whole pj style- very nicely done here!
October 10, 2011 at 4:52 pm
She’s no Julian Schnabel…nice pic, nonetheless.
October 10, 2011 at 5:58 pm
Does she have fuzzy pink bunny slippers on? Curlers would be a witty accessory.
If this is a look, let’s hope its fifteen minutes are up.
October 10, 2011 at 10:24 pm
Pajamas are such a great way to the start the morning (or afternoon). Comfortably chic!
October 11, 2011 at 12:17 am
I don’t know if the look is perfect or not, but the attempts at humor at her expense here are really pretty uninspired. If I wanted to make fun of someone, which I don’t do now that I am an adult, wether on a blog, or anywhere else, I would try to actually be funny.
October 11, 2011 at 6:00 am
the pants are lovely -but the top is too pjs-ish.
All for people pushing the boundaries in the name of fashion but I think this just looks silly.
October 11, 2011 at 7:14 am
October 11, 2011 at 3:42 pm
Sorry ! She looks perky and fresh and all that but pyjamas remain pyjamas, whether they are New & Lingwood, Charvet etc
October 11, 2011 at 10:22 pm
The world is not your slumber party!

She looks like she’s just rolled out of an enormous bed on the Upper East Side (in a good way). I don’t think I could pull of the pyjama look myself, but I love this on her!

It looks a little bit like a person that got up straight from bed and wandered on the streets. It’s original but a bit too exotic for me:). I would keep one of the elements I guess if I were to dress like this.

Seriously, I know this look is “in”, but its still just silk pajamas in the daytime. Hope this becomes just another fad soon..

I just bought this Rag and Bone PJ shirt at Barneys the other day. All the people saying how wrong this look is should see and feel the shirt in reality. It is a medium weight silk and feels so luxuious on the body. I live in NYC (born here, lived here most of my life) and I am excited when I see a new look or proportion that forces the eye to adjust. In fact, I am inspired every single day by the things that I see all around me. Even the little old ladies with their shopping carts, all dressed up as they did back in their heyday inspire me. My experience is that new looks take about 2 years to trickle down into the mainstream. It would be interesting to see if the naysayers have changed their opinions in a couple of years. Oh, and it was nice to see my style choice validated by a true fashion insider, Marina.
