love how this photo, done in black and white, gives it a vintage but modern feel. the subjects are modern, but the long coat, cigarette and the girl’s short hair make me think of Edie Sedwick, though the earbuds around her neck make the photo very “now” i love the twist of it all. though i can see the coat is probably velvet and that fabric just makes me cringe, i cannot stand the feel of it. beautiful anyway, a classic moment captured.
I totally agree, Triss. The b&w bring out the timeless quality of the scene, especially of our main protagonist with Edie Sedgwick hair, cigarettes, long long Warhol era-ish coat, equally crazy booties, and polo shirt dress. Love this photo! xo
I agree. If you are filling your blog with images of what you consider to be stylish, you should be cognizant of the impact of images of people who are smoking. Smoking is never chic or glamorous. Do the subjects not know you are taking their photo? Could you not ask them to set their cigarettes aside, take the photo and then allow them to resume? Please take responsibility for the message you are sending.
Beautiful shot, pretty people???…it doesn’t really matter…all the “glam” photos you post with all these people smoking is just so wrong!!! Why don’t they just have a gun to their head. Oh so chic! Scott, why do you continue to promote smoking as fun, fashionable and acceptable? Your showcasing smokers somehow seems to endorse it. Ugh!
It would be fine though if they were staring at cell phones like zombies instead of looking into each others eyes smiling and laughing and actually talking to each other – as smokers seem more likely to be doing than others these days. These girls are beautiful and stylish. I appreciate that this blog does attempt to edit out an entire segment of the human population as not eligible to be featured. It’s fine not to like smoking but another thing to target “smokers” and to want smokers erased from view. Please actually think about what you are saying here.
If you’ve got it, flaunt it. Great bones on the lady to the right, with a sixties vibe going on– maxi coat in velvet, short short hair, and mini skirt. Look how much more she stands out from the crowd by taking advantage of those features.
I love black and white photography, it adds a certain eternity to every photography..and the shortcut of the girl is fantastic. She has such a beautiful face and the haircut is like the perfect frame …great shot
