I agree. Plus you see that her leg is raised up higher therefore raising the jean skirt up higher. I’m sure we’ve been standing while in deep phone conversation in an awkward stance at one time or another. She looks fab.
A little vulgar, but a lot sexy. Actually I think its hot. It makes this shot so much more wow then if it was just a girl in a pair of shorts and nice shoes. This makes it like we are seeing something we shouldn’t be seeing. I love it. Who says that vulgar is always bad. Here its good.
I agree – this is a little too short but I like everything else about this outfit.
The coat is gorgeous and the shoes and bag and pretty wacky! http://untrucoudeux.wordpress.com/
In that case, you would have to wear pants at least to the knees, as one doesn’t sit on the edge of the butt. Unless you feel that the skin on your buttock is somehow more osmotic then that of your thigh.
Also agree …. this is a fabulous outfit, and interestingly, I could totally see this on the streets of the Japanese girls in Tokyo – many were doing the “sexy little girl Lolita” thing – hot pants and cute ruffled socks, with heels.
I really dislike any butt cheek hanging out, even with the bod to pull it off. Otherwise, the outfit’s bold and sexy, worn by a woman with matching confidence.
What makes you think anything she is wearing is “sexy little girl”? I don’t consider socks the property of kids as opposed to adults. If that is even what you are looking at. If you look at an adult woman and think “sexy little girl” the problem is in the beholder. You need to ask yourself why your mind went there when no one else’s did. You must be really devoting a lot of thought to sexualized children to think such thoughts from a pair of white socks. I LOVE the socks, btw. They are lacy and feminine. No reason to read any more into it.
I think she was referring to LizPR who said that she could see this outfit as part of the “sexy little girl lolita” thing they do a lot of in Japan. Not that she thinks that this picture itself is “sexy little girl.”
Bare midriff, butt cheeks and bare legs, with heels? too much!! Amazing legs though, no question. With brogues this would have been super super chic.
Compared to the photo above this one this is the opposite if chic, but I imagine this lady doesn’t do brogues! Lol!
Thanks be to god for the socks because I cannot take the balony sandwich effect of toes over the edge if peep toe sandals
She definitely knows that her legs are beautiful! Gorgeous girl+beautiful style+perfect location= brilliant combination!!!!
Elena http://dcinstyle.com/blog/
I’m having a Geritol moment too. She is lovely, I appreciate bravery, and I’m not a prude, but this ensemble as a whole just seems to be trying way too hard. (Didn’t like the ensemble worn by the blond in black a few photos back, either, for the same basic principle.)
I usually hate socks with open shoes like that, but with the top of her shoe creating a border for it, she actually rocks the look! I love how it almost looks like part of the shoe!
You can definitely see some cheek though, that is Not covered by her skirt(/shorts?)… ah well, win some; lose some.
Nice shot, very casual, great legs! Why should cheeks get a bad rap? She is fashionably comfortable and a bit of fresh air is good for all corners of the body…just so happens it’s cheek day on that side of Paris.
I don’t think this is a mini-skirt, they’re very short shorts.
It takes a gutsy, confident woman to wear this outfit and I admire her for that (even if I don’t like it !)
Great photo, until you see the ‘cheek’ of it! I wonder how much shorter skirts and shorts can possibly become? If you’ve got it, you don’t have to flaunt it !!
I feel I may be missing something but I don’t like these high, high shoes and short, short skirts. I think they look vulgar, and cold, not ‘hot’ at all!
I seriously don’t get the socks with heels trend – looks ridiculous to me. She is definitely working her outfit, but I agree that her butt showing is a tad trashy.
That’s a bit too micro ultra mini short/skirt? for me, especially with those high heels. She has great legs though, a pencil skirt would have been perfect! And I really like her jacket and bag-combo.
Clearly the sweater is meant to cover for the shortness of the skirt and this photo a simply a matter of unfortunate timing. I will not lay that on her.w

It’s funny you post this – I mostly stay silent on the comments but after reading some of the comments I thought maybe this creates an opportunity for me to ask what you think of the following observation.
I’m from Canada, I lived in Paris for many years; I had a great combination of both french and international friends there. We always joke about how when in Paris we always refrain from wearing certain clothes that are considered too “sexy” (for lack of a better word) by parisian standards. Not only because of being in a capital city but Paris itself seems to have certain dress codes that for example NYC or Milan do not have. I remember this “dress code” was so obvious to us that after a while we would amuse ourselves by guessing if someone was a tourist or not just by what they were wearing. It could be mostly because you’d get all kinds of creeps bothering you on the street or even normal people giving you looks for wearing a skirt too(relatively) short or a top with too (relatively) much cleavage (maybe because they are not used to it?). Something which i find i’m much more comfortable doing in NYC than in Paris – I still wonder why?
Some of your Paris pics, from fashion week http://www.thesartorialist.com/photos/on-the-street-lace-legs-paris/ to this one often make me wonder if these girls actually managed to spend the whole day wearing what they are without getting looks or harassed on the street for the entire day.
After all parisian “sexy” has its own particularity in meaning, style and everything else! it’s definitely not centred around showing too much skin which in my opinion is sometimes too “prude” even if they pull off sexy so effortlessly and beautifully and i find it great that they do so without necessarily showing too much skin.
This is of course my observation as an everyday girl in the city and not someone who hops in and out for fashion events; You and Garance probably have a different view on this…
cheers,
Totally agree — one of the first things I noticed when I moved ot Paris is the lack of cleavage on display. I’m still trying to crack the code on French women’s ability to be seductive while being completely covered up. My boyfriend would like me to wear high heels more often, and besides the fact that I never know how far we’ll be walking, I tell him I get enough attention from men as it is mostly because I don’t walk down the street scowling like most women here (probably to ward off the creeps).
yeah! and suprisingly before i moved to paris i thought i’ll move there and wear heels everyday because as much as i love heels when i wore them as an everyday look in Canada, people would always ask me where i was going after and id feel a little self-concious consequently! Then i got to Paris all excited and after the first month i decided to lay lo on the heels there as well…(still the creeps do not win cause i tried to plan according to what part of the city and what hours i was going to be and wear outfits accordingly cause lets be honest the creeps do tend to hang in groups!)
I don’t really like kind of visible butt + crop top + high high heels (and not even at a beach town but a cool-ish city).
Oh well still interesting textures and patterns ! [:
I love the fact that you publish different, singular outfits. Really, your blog keep getting better (and that is a big thing as it was already amazing).
Everyone keep asking what did you like in this look (as it’s not “chic” for them), but for me this picture sounds like a “why not ?” – or an invitation to think about our definition of style, elegance and sexyness.
Plus she really have dreamy legs.
I dunno, I’ve been living in Paris for the past 14 years, and I can’t say Paris girls are any more daring than anywhere else in the world. Before that, I lived in NY and I find New Yorkers to be a lot more daring.
In any case, can’t say I’m a fan of this girl’s style.
I tend to think it’s nicer to show less and let the eye of the beholder’s imagination do the rest than leave little to the imagination as is the case here.
A lot people have no taste in here, outfit is hot yea socks was little too much but the outfit is sexy, and she know she can wear that and it will look sexy
We are all entitled to our opinion. It is a little unnecessary to say that we “have no taste” if we disagree with your view. In fact, we could easily state that you are the one lacking in taste. It is all relative.
иметь красивые ноги, это конечно хорошо, но с такой короткой юбкой – это просто вульгарщина!
БОСОНОЖКИ произошли от слов БОСАЯ НОЖКА и с носками их НЕ носят!
Ah ben non , là, c too much!
Alors the skirt is short, for sure extremely short e non va…..
But the worst, my opinion is the shoes tiny tiny and the foot not fitting in, a new version of cindirella ma no non e possibile!!!
C tellement dommage, such a shame, with those perfect legs! Comment dire, c pas chic quoi!
Mais comme Scott vous avez poste ces photos de ce monsieur si chic a Milan, I give you my absolution!
This outfit clearly requires a LOT of confidence – with her body and with her attitude to deal with the inevitable attention it will get her.
If she can handle it, good for her. It may not be to my taste, but I for one respect a confident women.
On celebs or models this is brilliant but on this woman it’s vulgar and I think I know why. You know why too and it’s a shame that certain women can’t celebrate their sexiness the way others can tsk tsk. shame on those who cry vulgar. This is what fashion is all about! LOVE
I adore every single detail. The ugly cardigan with super sexy microshorts, socks with beautiful shoes and especially her red nails paired with purple phone. May be a little too short, but that’s why she has that cardigan on! Like someone said, feels like we’re seeing something we shouldn’t see. Rocking it

This is of course my observation as an everyday girl in the city and not someone who hops in and out for fashion events; You and Garance probably have a different view on this…
cheers,
Lynn

The grapes make me a bit dizzy, but the gal with the great legs looks like she’s working, if you get my drift.

That’s just too much if you ask me.
I understand that this pic is supposed to spur up a debate and this is the side I am on: Con
Looks like there is too much effort towards the opposite direction.
A big kiss from Greece!

A quick search shows that two commenters already used the word “cheeky”. It’s an adjective that dates from 1859, according to Webster’s.
Not sure how anyone was showing cheek in 1859.

Like others here, my first thought was also that she was “working”. If she is, what does the style then signify?

She looks absolutely stunning, rocking every piece with unrivaled fierceness. A++++++

Rocking it
