Robotic chic? Everything about this has a very mechanical, streamlined feel to it. She epitomizes cool.

I used to live around the corner from this cafĂ© on rue de Charonne. It’s called Pause cafĂ© at Charonne and Kelly in the 11th. Fantastic for people watching. This photo captures the ambience of the place very well!

I love this dress – very simple and classy. I also like the deliberate black-bra-under-white thing – that works with a white tank top, too. The shoes are too clunky, though – those shoes would look great with rolled up jeans and button-down shirt.

    Great pic!

hmm, I’m not a fan of dark undergarments under sheer, looks cheap to me. I am glad to see we’re doing creepers again!

Her glasses are funky I like them. I could never wear something as see through as that, but I have to admit that it looks great, it almost makes me want to try something like it.
And to wear shoes like that wit that outfit, she is miss confidence, and miss I do not care all rolled into one.
    Really nice post.

Great dress but lousy choice in undergarmets. A white slip would have made this outfit much more effective.

I like the sheer dress with the little black collar. I would probably never wear anything that sheer, but it looks good with the black bra. I wonder if that’s partly because the bra doesn’t look too bra-like. (No straps). Half the fun of people watching is seeing dresses like this. If we all dressed in jeans in tee-shirts it wouldn’t be any fun at all.

It’s lovely and yet it doesn’t work. It could be the chambermaid-type top or the black bra. She has a lovely face and those sunglasses are spectacular.

  41. Niia

    August 4, 2011 at 12:53 pm

Don’t love the black strapless bra – but rest of very pretty. Shoes give the sweet dress an edge. Would have preferred a regular black bra vs. strapless.

She looks so lovely but the dress disfigures her and the shoes make it worse.

  44. Chiara

    August 4, 2011 at 1:21 pm

I would never ever wear a black bra under something so white, really. It doesn’t look so bad after all but I think the shoes are ugly and not adapt for the silk dress; the sunglasses are weird, I prefer them rectangular and colored, i don’t like them here. Even if I don’t like these things, I generally don’t mind all the look! It’s really got something french!

I would of bought a dress one size larger…..opened the buttons and put oh sexy neutral heels……. so the attention would be on her….

  47. Natalie

    August 4, 2011 at 1:37 pm

love everything about this very “Parisian” look until..the shoes. Understandably, heels are not always practical but those are just lackluster at best.

  48. Martine

    August 4, 2011 at 1:55 pm

I love the black bra under the sweet white sheer dress. Very sexy and classy. I adore pleats. The sunglasses are amazing. I am glad people are now done with the larger more square ones. Its nice to have a change, and small round glasses are so interesting and edgy. The shoes give some needed edge. If one were to wear this as expected; Like with light colored neutral, sleek shoes, nude colored bra and unbuttoned by the neck, it would be cutsey and dull. The purse adds interest too. She has made an amazing outfit out of a nice but un remarkable dress. Perfection!

  49. Silvia

    August 4, 2011 at 1:58 pm

I agree that this outfit seems futuristic and quite robotic. Maybe sunglasses ,that remember the aviators’ ones, give this impression. Nothing to say, you always share something original like no others do.

  50. Jo

    August 4, 2011 at 2:14 pm

I love that dress… So feminine, romantic and sexy!

  51. Maia

    August 4, 2011 at 2:20 pm

Normally, I would kind of abhor sunglasses like that… but these are sexy in context since they mirror what’s going on with her sheer white dress and black bra.

I think it’s hilarious that I just gave into the oversized “Jackie O” style sunglasses, and now it is evident from “the blogs” that the trend is going back to the smaller 90′s style. Oh, well. It will take a while for the trend to trickle down to my neck of the woods.

I’m liking the balance of sweet and edgey.

  60. Ceecee

    August 4, 2011 at 4:03 pm

It’s an evening dress, not an afternoon tea frock. Nothing else she has chosen to wear or carry, complements the dress. The collar is also misplaced. Tacky.

  61. debbie

    August 4, 2011 at 4:19 pm

I would have liked this much better with a less clunky shoe and bag. It is quite sophisticated (black bra) except for the clumsiness of the accessories.

  62. Margaret

    August 4, 2011 at 4:28 pm

    What is the bag?

Love it as a grounding darker accessory.

  63. Hunter Goss

    August 4, 2011 at 5:16 pm

Love the outfit. And the sunglasses with the round lenses gives her a kind of ‘Metropolis’ vibe.

She could have done much better with the bag and shoes, though.

How on earth do you do it, Scott? The round sunglasses echoed in the round sign. Two large black hands next to one petite lily white hand. Brilliant as usual.

  68. Michaela

    August 4, 2011 at 7:12 pm

I love the curve of her waist beneath the loose fitting top. That paired with the lengths of both skirt layers hitting different heights perfectly create a subtle ooze of sexy.

  69. Lauren

    August 4, 2011 at 7:37 pm

The dress is beautiful, but would have been better with nude undergarments. Not loving the clunky shoes.

I love this. It is possibly my favourite of all your captures. Unexpected old school street style sunglasses and shoes work so well in contrast to her lady-like dress. But they also blend seamlessly as futuristic robotic chic. A woman with style, grace and imagination. And a stunning waist line…

  85. lisa

The waist on this dress is bad, makes her look much bigger than she really is.

I am not a big fan of see through clothes, since I don’t think showing your underwear looks classy. Anyways, I find this dress very cute, though I would wear it with a nude or white bra. I really dislike the shoes, I’d prefer neutral heels and another type of bag in another colour.
I agree with the one who said she looks like Charlotte from Sex & The City!

That is my favourite street in Paris. There’s something about its charm that made me fall in love with it. If you turn around you will come across a cafe called “Pause Cafe”. This is my absolute must, for anyone that asks me what makes me happy in Paris.
