Sometimes I wonder if Our Sartorialist isn’t just checking to see how many people will swoon and say, “A denim jacket with a t-shirt! But it’s incredible! Truly the most perfect representation of our world!”
I have always found that the most cynical people are also often the most ignorant. Personally, I think this look is far more elegant and tricky then most of the high fashion pictures we see here. Style is more then a combination of clothing items.
I often think judgmental people are the most ignorant… or is it that ignorant people are the most judgmental? But of course it’s always easiest to move with the pack and not against it. Real knowledge is more tricky than just knowing words.
I have been debating purchasing a Levi’s trucker jacket. I know 169 dollars isn’t tat much, but when you are a grad student, it buys much Ramen. I think this is enough incentive to push my pennies that direction. Ah, the good old days when you could potentially purchase this at Goodwill.
I have a jean jacket from H&M that looks almost exactly the same. Nevertheless, I always FEEL as though it were somehow inferior to the Levis trucker jacket. Now I wonder why? Am I a victim of the Levis “legend”? Or is there really something about the jacket that makes it better (and justifies the exorbitant price)?
