On the Street…Pattern Mixing, Paris

It’s such a fine line between “just right” and “too much” and this look is just on the right side of that line

Yes, there is definitely a fine line between gaudy and fun. This one masterfully achieves fun! It is so cheery – even artful.

I like these pattern. But I also like at the opposite, the minimalistic black clothing worn by the off focus girl in the background.

If you stop just above her shoes, the look is fabulous. Adding the shoes changes the dynamic to a negative for me. I wish she’d chosen something other than a metallic.

Just a little TOO much for me. The jacket is beautiful though.

I actually like the lady in the background with black shoes and socks and a black dress and jacket. I like color but there is a little too much of a good thing going on here.

Another example that demonstrates a short skirt makes anything look good.

I like this but think her look would be perfect if the boots were a shiny black rather then the bronze…

I’ve always had the want to do something like this girl is…but I have lived in 1 of the smallest towns ever (pop.250.) I’m supposin’ that “EITHER I’D HAVE STARTED A WHOLE NEW PO-DUNK FAD, BEEN LAUGHED DIRECTLY OUT OF TOWN, OR PERHAPS I SHOULD’VE GONE HOME 2 DROP OFF MY PURCHASES & THEN KEPT GOIN’ 2 THE GOLF COURSE IN iDAVILLE,OR….right??!

Just can’t agree Scott, wearing all designer threads at once does not make you stylish just expensive. This outfit would have benefited from the old jewellery adage; then just take one piece off before you leave home.

One part of me wants to get closer- another, to turn and run!
    (but definitely not boring)

All the pieces are great individually. Especially the jacket, I love it. But I think that fine line has been crossed…..by about twenty miles.

I guess effortlessly chic is not in vogue – I don´t see much of that lately on your blog. Everyone is trying too hard – overexerting themselves to stand out and sometimes with not so good results. This is a clear case of overkill for me.

The fashion crowd got really, really frightened by “normcore” which is kind of another word for slow fashion, and people wearing sensible good quality, but not ostentatious brands, and clothing that is not instantly recognizable as being from a certain brand and season. The idea of simple good quality clothing, and an effortless style that emphasized the beauty of the person, rather then them simply being a coat rack for “it” items, which would need to be thrown out after a few wears made them desperate. So they did their best to villefy normcore as being anything from classist to being boring, and brought back this silly crap. HEY! If you don’t have a felt statement choker that take 10 cents to make, but retails for 20K you are not doing it right!

It’s funny how divisive this photo is.

I like it. She carries it off. It would not work on me.
