Another example of The Sartorialist’s “impressionist” photography… It’s a casual yet delightful mix of textures, and the black-and-white effect adds to the elegance of this anonymous pic.
Beautiful!! And I love/want that lace!
I’ve always had a soft spot for lace. As for example the white collars on black in the Van Dycks portretpaintings. For its ornamental structure and meaning/symbolic ( pure white demure or black naughty and many other perceptions of lace ).
It’s like a drawing. Like that white lace on that white shirt in an earlier picture.
This person did a really good job of layering. There are many different textures here that go together just perfectly. The sweater has a much thicker, chunkier texture, then the lace top has a different texture than the very soft looking skirt. I think it would have been better in colour, depending on the colours of the clothes.
What a great mixture of textures…something fashionable peeps don’t do enough of…right now, I want to mix a slinky metallic jersey black top with black cotton knit leggings..and maybe throw in matching eyelet shorts in there somewhere. Keep it interesting.
The b&w makes me see these pieces as made of sweatshirt/sport knit fabrics… which is a good thing, since it reminds me of some of my favorite clothes from the ’80s, especially a long straight skirt made of gym-grey cotton knit. (I never layered this well, though. O, the squandered opportunities of youth…)
Last night when I looked there was not one comment on the stripes not matching. Now when I check if my comment has been added, there is another. Some of us had very fastidious sewing teachers!!
