Flashback Friday!!

Shoulder,-Paris-2007

This is one of my favorite vintage Springtime images, she’s like a modern Botticelli.

I shot this in Paris in 2007 ( nine years ago).

I think it proves that fashion might move fast but real style looks good forever

way too skinny for a Botticelli muse, so why don’t you look for shapes too?

Botticelli muses were pretty leggy and slender. Look at his Venus. She has a supermodel body. Rounded in the hips, but long and lean in the legs and arms. Maybe you are thinking of Rubens. People basically have liked slender women in all times and places. Look at Louise Brooks from the twenties, the Gibson Girl, Evelyn Nesbit, in the 1890′swho was quite slender, despite a rounded busom. Audrey Hepburn in the 50′s… Definitely more slender then the average American or British women, that is for sure. And this lovely woman is also, not thin, but nicely proportioned and fairly slender.

As you already know, your self-promotion here is often perceived as annoying and obtrusive. One feels you do not really care about the people and styles shown here and that you just use this website in order to promote your own. You´re not the only one, but imo the most obvious.

When you are fresh and young and beautiful simple clothes are enough ..that’s why Jeans and T-shirt is so great on young people ..as you get older you need more…

    Dear Scott,

I love your blog and I look almost everyday at your posts to see what’s new. Now, I would not consider this style out of date or outfashioned. The woman wearing it could be from this year or so. When I was younger, in the 80ies maybe, I had the impression that fashion changed more profoundly within a decade or even five years. Your photo proves that it does not now. Is there a particular style or silouette of the zero-years or the teens? I just wonder. I have the impression that style didn’t change so much over the last 15 year. To me so many styles just look similar. That might be a reason, why this photo reminds you of the street style that is currently seen out there.

    Yours
    Michael from Munich
