  • Tomorrow I finally get to premiere my new shoe collection The Sartorialist x Sutor Mantellassi @sutormantellassi Four shoe styles and one sneaker in several color option. This is a project I’ve been working on for several months and it’s time to share.
  • So happy to be back in Florence!!! The painted facade of the buildings here always blows me away! The last weekend was the quiet before the storm! I can’t wait to start sharing what I see during this next three months of travel between New York and Europe.
  • Thank you @jochemsanders for catching me at a moment of extreme skinny legginess, Florence 2014
  • I’ve been looking at a lot of Helen Levitt, Louis Faurer, Walter Rosenblum and other Photo League photographers as I prepared (mentally/visually) for this upcoming fashion week. Exercises like that really do affect my eye and how I see when I’m out shooting. It certainly made it easier for me to “see a moment” like the photo above more quickly. I don’t know why but that zipper and her body shape just really caught my eye. It’s a good example of when the “fashion” of the clothes aren’t necessarily the focus of the image but ,at the same time, they are the essential to the story of the photograph.
  • Grazie IL Messaggero!!
  • Back to Milan in just a few days, Milan 2009
  • On the Street……Mercer St., New York Such a cute blown-up shoulder on this coat
  • Good news/bad news……(Bad) after almost 30 years Paul Smith @paulsmithdesign will be closing his boutique on Fifth Ave and 17th st., (Selfishly Good) the books ( a great @bruce_weber selection) are 50% off!! I bought a great Saul Leiter book and finally bought Beat Pond. I think I’m only missing one book and one “lLets Get Lost” catalog to complete my collection of all of Bruce’s published books. If you’re a big Bruce Weber fan like me hurry before they disappear!
  • Fashion week (3 months really) is less than a week away and as I review my wardrobe I’m shocked at how many little repairs I have to make to shirts, coats and cardigans. Ok, I also kinda like playing with my cool LORENZI @larusmiani sewing kit. As a lot of you know, I took lots of tailoring classes in college and I’ve always found hand-stitching an extremely calming and meditative act not much different than chopping vegetables or sweeping. The repetitive motion that keeps your eyes focused but your mind free to wander. If I ever thought of it beforehand I would take my little kit on long flights, what a great way to pass the time if you’ve already seen all the movies available!
