New Yorkers are slovenly. When I was in Italy I really appreciated how even when they were wearing casual clothes, they seemed dressed up.

The first boy’s hair… yikes. Looks like he dipped his head in a vat of fried chicken. But I admire that he actually uses a bobby pin to hold that coiff in place. At least it shows conviction!

That being said, what a fantastic street party!

It’s more than effortless , it’s apathy and selfloathing….. NY , land of flip-flops and lack of style …. please , can’t we pretend to have the clothes-style of Milan and Paris ?!?!?!?

Thank You…these photos really made me happy. The pics seem really intimate and seen with an adoring eye.

Loving the androgynous girl on the bottom! Way to recognize the hotness of gender bending!

OMG….Is it just me or does NYC look like it is turning into Berkeley, California anti-fashion? What happened to the city while you were in Europe? Or, did we just get spoiled and now have a higher fashion standard after seeing all of your wonderful pics from Milan and Paris?

The clothing is great, but why is there a Kansas City Chiefs pinata in the middle of the street being kicked around?

    Closet football fans?

I love this! It’s like catching fashion off guard. No one’s trying to please anyone or dress up, they’re all just having a good time in that effortless, ultra hip style that gives the finger to all your expectations.

(oh- and whoever said NY was the land of flip flops has obviously never been to the California coast)

I’m disappointed here. This is like Hipster Bingo 2.0. We have star tattoos, ironic sideways hats, greasy hair, SPARKS, striped t-shirts, ugly girls butching it up, etc… I’m sorry, but the emperor has no clothes in this case.

“new yorkers do it best” – for effortlessness London gets the title … not N.Y

This ahs to be the least impressive shoot thus far: slovenly tat-kids do not constitute fashion…can we go back to Milan?

I think this shoot was the perfect contrast to Milan and Paris. I think these kids show a style just as well executed as the fashion group from Milan and Paris.

I have to say though that I think these looks have just as much thought and effort as the looks from Milan,

Also I agree that London is very good at ironic and vintage but i do think New Yorkers have their own flair for it – not better or worse just unique

Don’t mean to come across as incredulous but “just as much thought…” – really? Hmm…my green snapback worn sideways goes with…um…yeah, my white tee and jeans. Yep, I’m good.

C’mon…yeah kids do lead the way sometimes but most follow, usually out of necessity.

I’m bored with ironic vintage. Bring back the sincere vintage. If you can’t go back to Milan soon, perhaps you need to make a trip to the Upper East Side this week.

Wow, talk about fashion snobbery. Just because you prefer the refined styles from Milan and Paris doesn’t mean that NYC has less style, it is just a different style, recognize it for what it is, don’t trash it because of what it isn’t

I agree about NY’ers being a bit less stylish …. I used to think that the style was to look casual…. but now it appears to be apathy has set in and no one cares what they look like … I guess that is a style too !!!…. we shouldn’t all care about styles…. so sad

Yes, let’s not be condescending towards NY style… instead let’s call middle americans who dress just like that trashy.

The smoking guy looks alright. Regarding these latest NY pics, they are sorta greasy. Interesting to look at, but not at all attractive or chic.

The converse on the gals legs are fine but when she grows up and has to hide those tatoos, well what more can one say…I saw a man yesterday when coming home from vacationi with a very old tatoo on his arm that had lost all definition…is that what is in store for the new crop of tatoo covered people?

I’m so over “effortless.” You have to draw the line somewhere! “Effortless-chic” is just plain humdrum.

That being said, the woman in the black dress with the string of Pearls (?) kicking the ball is freaking fabulous! Effortlessly fabulous!

The androgynous woman with the short hair and tall glasses is fabulous!

The frumpy garbed, swarthy skinned, grimy boy with the green thing on his head is, in a Les Misérables kind of way, beautiful!
