One of my best purchases this fall has been my Aspesi cashmere double breasted coat.
An important visual trick I’ve learned is that if you want to look ten pounds slimmer, don’t make the torso of your jacket smaller, maybe go to the tailor and have the sleeve brought in. If you look at old movies of Fred Astaire, he maintains such a beautiful graceful line while dancing and wearing a suit jacket, but if you notice, the sleeves on his jackets, are so much slimmer than the sleeves you see today. The key is that with a slim-sleeve jacket, it creates space between your arm and your trunk, which again is something that we’re not seeing very much with most modern coats and suits. Everything is so oversized, or incredibly shrunken (I think) in the wrong places.
P.S. Unfortunately this coat is not currently available on Aspesi.com. Hey Aspesi, maybe this would be a great coat to add in a few different colors.
P.P.S. 2 years ago when I was in the Intel Visual Life video, a lot of people asked what glasses I was wearing. Unfortunately, I don’t think I ever ended up getting back to you guys, so the glasses that I’m wearing in the video, and in this photo are Cutler & Gross. I think Cutler & Gross have discontinued this frame but I found a very similar model at Oliver Peoples.
P.P.P.S. You might notice I’m walking with my good friend Fabrizio Rollo, interior decorator extraordinaire from Sao Paolo. You’ve seen a breadth of his great fashion style over the years, but his apartment was recently featured on Elle Decor seen here.
