This is my Hollywood acting debut! I first show up around 1:05. It’s pretty funny.
P.S. The set up of this project went pretty quickly. So quickly that I didn’t realize until the night before I left for L.A. that the project was for Ford Motor and not Ford Models :/

loved the interview. Your own style can be described as understated, somewhat distant, but never indifferent. Your leitmotif: passion, respectfulness, that je-ne-sais-quoi element, honesty… is all exemplary of a culturally American frame of mind but ever so worthy of being a universal ideal for our epoch. I follow your work with fascination and gratitude, happy to know that someone out there pays so much attention to the detail and essence of things, to value over price. My only reservation is whether or not you are right in calling yourself an “Artist”. I may be wrong but I think Art ( e.g., Mozart) has to be more than a visual translation of personality. That’s to say, fashion can never be art, as Lagerfeld with his wise lucidity put it. Can appearance which aims at “looking good” no matter how much talent is behind it ever become that thing which changes the face of the earth? I don’t want it to be just a personal opinion matter, but personally I would not put YSL or Balenciaga on the same level as Mozart. To be an artist in the field of photography, you have to be interested not only in how somehow looks with those clothes but how the WORLD looks maybe because of those clothes. You claim not to be people-oriented, but your approach is very much individual-centered and your different street settings seem to be more like jet-setting than real being in the real world shots (my photographic references are Cartier-Bresson, Raymond Depardon, and also you own favorite, August Sander, whom you do resemble). But I’m willing to be wrong, maybe in fifty or a hundred years, your photos will be iconic statement of the turn of the 21st century. But in that case, they will testify to the most hollow qualities of our times: looks, looks, looks.
Monsieur Marcel
January 5, 2013 at 6:14 pm
I get the same feelings from Scott’s photography as I do from Mozart’s music: honesty and integrity…a respect for and a celebration of life.
And from the earliest cave drawings to contemporary art, the human eye seeks pleasure.

huge fan of the sartorialist’s work, but umm… i wouldn’t make the comparison between him and mozart – no offense scott

January 5, 2013 at 7:26 pm
I applaud your honesty, and the way you interpret things. I find it stimulating to read a take on things that is outside the box. It’s tiring always to read comments from the sycophants. I enjoy Scott’s work too, but for me, it doesn’t have to change the world. It holds my attention for a minute, and then it is gone. Is there artistry in that? It’s a good question.
Nono
January 6, 2013 at 8:14 am
You say of Scott “your different street settings seem to be more like jet-setting than real being in the real world shots” – But if you look at his series of photos from villages in under-developed countries, you may see his work differently. Maybe every fashion shot isn’t an artistic masterpiece but some of the photos I’ve seen here have changed my view of the world in which I live.

January 9, 2013 at 7:31 pm
Youre kidding, right? How is photography not art? Yes, Scott is an artist. Photography takes as much skill and as much dedication as painting or composing. As for fashion design..thats a little more difficult to classify. Its like architecture. A combination of art and engineering. But art isn’t for classification. Its for enjoyment and thought. As for Lookslookslooks…. well thats why they call it VISUAL ART. What can you do with the Mona Lisa besides looking at it? Thats a bit offensive on behalf of all photographers. Not just Scott.

But maybe this way the other Ford (Models) will be interested in such a project now ;)

Scott, the camera loves you. You are leading man and swoon-worthy.
however that peice was not worthy of you. that whole episode idea of the girl faking a n accent was STOLEN FROM AN EPISODE OF “FRIENDS”. the one where Ross fakes an English accent in front of his students because he is nervous and then as to keep faking it.
Couldn’t even watch the rest of the short cause it was so lame. Only thing about it that was good, WAS YOU!!
