The Sartorialist Is 1 Year Old!!

I just realized The Sartorialist is one year old!!!

I knew it was around this time but I didn’t remember the exact date.

Thank you all so much for your support – I can’t believe all that has happened in one year.

I’m so proud of the community I have built and that you all seem to understand exactly what this blog is all about.

I spend so much time alone that it still shocks me how many people know the blog and really like it. I have been working my ass off but i love it and your comments and input make it so worth while. Guess what, i have been invited to Hong Kong!! hopefully it will work for November and maybe GQ will spring for a pop over to Japan. – I haven’t told GQ yet so if your reading this Adam guess what my next email will be about!

Thanks again guys, you cannot imagine how much I love writing this whike slightly buzzed on white wine in Milan after a full day of shows and great shots!

now back to work.

    Let me be the first…

    CONGRATULATIONS & WELL DONE!!!

I wonder if you would one day come to Australia – as I would like to see the light through your eyes, though we are very casual… I wouldn’t be surprised if you find the views at the beach more interesting than the city…

    Again Well Done & GodSpeed…

You are so funny! I am so happy for you and your success – you’re a true testament to following what you love, and having a completely fulfilling career!

Especially in the fashion industry, when it’s so easy to become jaded by all the crap, you are such an inspiration, and even Fabien Baron knows you’re good.

I’m the girl who recognized you at Pastis a few Sundays ago, I am just starting out in fashion and hope to have as much fun and success as you!

    Congrats and kudos Sart!

I really enjoy your work too. For me, it’s more about the people than the clothes, but the interplay is fascinating. I often think you’ve found extremely charismatic people and their clothes are completely beside the point. And those outside the industry(I think) are the most fun.

And I love your commentary too.

    Happy Birthday!

You don’t know how pleased I am to wish you Happy Birthday on my actual birthday :-D

I have been continuously inspired by your blog, not just in regard to my wardrobe but in regard to life in general.

Your outlook on life is so amazing and rich and varied. I always perceived fashion to be shallow and superficial at times, which can be quite depressing.

But your different approach is really lovely and inspiring.

    Please don’t ever stop.

OK, for this anniversary I’m willing to leave “lurkdom” for once…Congratulations from the Netherlands and thanks for the lovely pictures and stories! You’ve made me into a Sart-addict, checking out your site every day (which isn’t good for work morale, by the way…damn you, Internet).

Since you’re a big Dries van Noten-fan (I remembered you doing a post on him a while ago), maybe you should try to visit Antwerp in the near future: the Dries-flagship store is fabulous and lots of stylish people around!

    Keep up the great work

Thanks for being one of the first to give the world a glimpse of NY street fashion. Your blog has not only changed the way I view clothes, but also made me gain an interest in photography. Can’t wait to see what you get out of HK. I go 2x a year and always have a blast when I’m there. Must check out my stuff at Lane Crawford while you’re there, if you’ve got a few minutes. But then again, they ( Lane Crawford or On Pedder) will probably be introduced to you while you’re there. I wouldn’t be surprised if they invited you. They’re on top of things like that.

I was walking down the street the other day and was struck by a little red flower growing from a crack in the sidewalk. Happy Birthday! When I stumbled across your blog, I thought of it as a blog about fashion. But now I like to think of it more about character, and the ways people reflect themselves. Their posture, stance, colours, expression, it’s really amazing what it can amount to. The personal details you include makes your blog better then any other I have seen. Congratulations from BC, I don’t think you could’ve done any better then you have!

I am honored to be Comment 101. I love that your blog focuses on fashion as a point of view and expression of taste, rather than on what the Fashion Police say is “In” today. Hopefully you won’t get so busy that you won’t have time to continue shooting fashionably conscious, everyday New Yorkers.

Plus, if what I’ve read is true, I love that you were a stay-at-home dad for a while. Now that’s a real man!

    two things

yes I was a stay-at-home-dad and I could not be more proud of that and the time I spent with my kids. Raising them effected the way I look at the world and teaching them how they should consider other people from all different parts of life is a huge influence on the way I photograph people.

second – yes i hope my blog is about style and character. I watch a lot of the photographers shoot the same people i do but they shoot them like walking products instead of people

    Thanks again guys!!!!!

We’ve seen you go from the little blogger that could to a voice for Style.com and GQ — quite an accomplishment in a year’s time. Congrats on a job well done.

    Happy Anniversary!!
(Here come more lurkers :-) )
Learning a lot from your fantastic blog, since March. It’s also the most addictive. You’ll be surprised to know your blog is making a difference as far(sartorially more than geographically) as India.
Waiting to see your pictures from Japan. So many street-looks in Europe are straight from Japan, its made me curious.

Congrats from one of thousands of your loving, loyal fans. I’ve been with your blog since beginning of this year, and it is truly a a favourite moment of the day to visit your site.

Thank you for your hard work. You’ve given so much insight, pleasure, and appreciation to so many people. I love your photos and they are definitely getting better and better.

With your going with style.com and GQ, it seems like you are getting to be one glazing-hot fashion commodity! As I’ve mentioned on your blog before, the best is still yet to come and I’m looking forward to The Sartorialist’s continued success.

Been aggressively and obsessively stalking your site for sometime now. Keep up the good work man. It really is awesome and refreshing.

I hope you’ll be able to take great pics in Hong Kong because it’s absolutely awesome. We’ve always been this place where the fusion of oriental and occidental influences takes place. Have a great time there, and keep snapping!
