I just found this Watteau-pleat illustration, see what I mean?

While I appreciate the technique, I don’t like the “jacket put on backwards look.”

Had the “hood like” effect been taken from the front, I might consider this style though as the back detailing is nice indeed!

Thanks for the fashion history lesson. Man; we get it all on this blog!

I do agree that the pleats make the back interesting. I also liked the collection as a whole. There were a lot of pieces I would wear. The dresses were very slim too.

Thanks for the Watteau sketch too. Fashion history is important. :)

Wow Sart, these looks are terribly grim I think. I appreciate the sophistication, but they look like they’ve just barely survived the apocalypse and are in mourning.

I’m so glad that women don’t actually look and dress like this.

I thought this collection was absolutely breathtaking. I wish I could have been there to watch it live, but even watching the video and photos I was absolutely wowed.

I tried on a dress/tunic the other day from some cheap little shop and realized it simply wouldn’t work because there was no effort to create this pleating. So the fabric just bunched and hung instead of draping like they in these pics. Yet another style that just can’t be bought on the cheap.

    Love the leather jacket.

Don’t they have a bottle of Static Guard backstage? Both skirts look in need of a spray.

I love those somber clothes. So much better than his last outing.

SO happy you mentioned Watteau pleats, Sart. You should read Anne Hollander’s brilliant book on the history of draping, if you haven’t–”Fabric of vision.”

The first jacket looks backwards… there’s humor in fashion after all. =D
