I posted a version of this shot earlier in the week.

However, the happy accident of the gentleman passer-by added a whole new dimension to the shot that I didn’t want to miss.

I think it says something about the look of mens and womens fashion in New York at this moment.

I can appreciate the sockless look. It’s a big topic right now, but sometimes in summer, it’s nice to wear some black wingtips with minimalist black socks and shorts. A little dressier!

I completely agree! And, I am LOVING this shot!

I really appreciate how more women are dressing more simple or should I say practical? Un-complicated for “everyday life”; yet I love the details on his outfit, the 70′s aesthetic he has going on with the moustache and the sunglasses.

I agree. But so do the people in the background. More so, perhaps.

I remember the previous shot! I love what she’s wearing, but is it just me, or is her cross-body too short? I guess the strap is standard-sized as a purse, but cross-body it looks a bit too short.

I love the dude on the right, aviator shades, handlebar mustache, shoes and all. And the toque! (Any Canadians on site today?) :)

I recently returned from my annual NY visit impressed more by the men’s street fashion than the women’s. I commented to my friend how pleasant it was to see such consistently appealing fashion on the men – great color, tailoring, and attention to detail. In this shot, the gentleman draws my attention.

Yes, it’s the young lady visiting from Milano.
Same comfy, easy outfit to go around NYC.

No disrespect intended but…maybe the gentleman in the background with the ball cap on speaks to the rest of New York at this moment too…?

I’m all for style and details in an outfit. but not wearing socks while still sporting a beany is just stupid. Its either too cold to go sockless or too warm for a beany.

I love how the two of them are wearing surprisingly similar outfits–just-above-the-knee coats, cuffed jeans, narrow-toed black shoes, a touch of red–but each has a lovely individual style.

The guy’s outfit is really cool. I would’ve prefered it a bit less “furry” but other than that I love it. Great accident :)

naturally like your web-site however you need
to test the spelling on quite a few of your posts.
A number of them are rife with spelling problems and I to find it
very bothersome to tell the reality on the other hand I will certainly come
    back again.

I respect the comments here. and the people in the photograph, their right to put on what they want without being assessed! Appreciating that doesn’t change my initial response: I don’t feel at all inspired by these looks. But that is what this blog encompasses, doesn’t it? Every photo will impact some or many, if not all,

hate to say this but as a guy i really don’t like this guy’s style from the bottom down. doesn’t fit for the weather and looks like he is trying too hard. she looks amazing with her simplicity. those 2 actually look like complete opposites with her simplicity and his complexity.

Re the man the baseball cap? From his stance and dress, I’m guessing he may be one of many, many, disadvantaged New Yorkers also on the streets. Perhaps living on the streets. If this is the case, then he does indeed speak to the rest of New Yorkers, as commented above: The poor. Remember them? Try not to forget those less fortunate while fawning over the stylish.

    • Martine

      April 6, 2014 at 2:01 pm

The black guy in the right hand of the photo may not be “fashionable” but he certainly doesn’t look like he is living on the streets. He isn’t indigent, obviously. He is just a normal man in normal clothing. He is wearing a nice coat, and nice jeans, and most people I know look just like him. More so then the fashionable pair that are the subject of the photo. There is no need to use him as an example to rabble rouse.

    • Joseie

      April 6, 2014 at 2:19 pm

Thats a very nice sentiment, Andy. But why does the man’s clothing or his stance look so disadvantaged ?

  36. Martine

    April 6, 2014 at 2:06 pm

Lovely shot. I actually like these group shoots more then any one person shots. You get to feel the moment on the street happening. Its exciting. The two amiably well dressed people at the right. The guy in the cap and straight leg jeans at the left looking a little more typical of Middle America( not like its a bad thing) the couple in the center…they all go to make up the scene.

I love the girl’s outfit. But the guy looks like he is over-accesorizing. I know this sounds silly, but I think he should have either the face hair, or the hat or the sunglasses! It looks too busy.

Yes it does say a lot about men and women’s fashion when both sexes dress alike in stocking caps, skinny jeans and black overcoats, tactical its and androgyny rule the day not style, I see that in the boonies too, I miss the Breakfast At Tiffanys look, I see why Dita Vonteese is so appealing, I’ll keep doing my retro look as I’m doing
