Stella Jean Re-See Fall / Winter 2015

stellajeanUsing her Italian-Haitian heritage as a base to inspire her, each season Stella Jean looks to a different culture to create her newest collection. This season she drew inspiration from each the many different – but equally beautiful – local embroideries of the different ethnic groups, who live along the Himalayas.

Stella’s real strength is the way in which she creates an unexpected mix, by pairing together elements and cultures you usually wouldn’t think of, into a single cohesive collection.

A good amount of that is created through the styling, but it’s also achieved within individual pieces, i.e. the pair of traditional herringbone pants that she adorned with colorful outside patch pockets, inspired by the traditional adornment of the Himalayan yak.

Beyond this, the playfulness of her fabrics and embellishments, as well as her fun sense of color, make her most definitely a designer to watch.

I love it! The colors and ethnic details remind me of St Laurent in his early years.

I love the layout of these images; well composed, Sart. I look forward to Stella Jean more than anyone each season; I hadn’t seen her work before her show was featured here during her off-schedule days a few years ago.

Love her east meets west aesthetic. ‘We are the world’. Nice to read your wonderful thoughts and ideas on here, Scott! Keep it coming! HEART the way you ‘see’ beauty & the way you speak about craftsmanship! =)
