I totally agree you will never see any of this on the street, I hate “ridiculous” fashion, please it looks like a first year fashion student with too many innapliccable ideas that mum and dad will back up no matter how awfull!
That’s pretty… well, awful. I know Mr Simons is very talented, but it looks like he ran out of ideas here and just started sticking extra stuff on jackets and messing around with sleeves–I don’t see a fully worked-out conceptual base here (and no, “some stuff close to your neck” isn’t a fully worked-out conceptual base).
I don’t see much deconstruction going on here… In fact, it ceases to be deconstruction when you start to ADD things on that normally don’t belong there. Like that strip of fabric going across the lapels; what is that? It’s terrible.
And speaking of terrible, this whole collection looks like bad late 90′s mall cybergoth. Was “Pure Morning” by Placebo playing in the background during the show…?
Visually interesting….the distortion he gets witht he turtle necks, extended sleeves, long coats, and wide pant legs really make it seem like giraffe/human hybrids, …it’s a little disconcerting but once you get past it, there are some cool coats and an few good color combos.
Men’s clothing have not changed much from what my great grandfather use to wear. Its interesting to see that once any creativity is applied to men’s clothing that ‘fashion’ people starts to add sexuality to the conversation. I am TIRED of the same old men’s uniform. Sure it makes for ease of dressing but I could forego many seasons without buying if its the same blazer and slacks season after season. I like the direction of the collections this season and I hope it builds momentum.
Really quite enjoy the first sweater/coat pictured, but I have to ask…who exactly are these menswear designers designing for? I can’t say I’ve seen much in the last few days that any of my men friends would be clamoring to climb into…
Once again – is there nothing menswear designers can think of that’s unique or new other than making pants and sleeves too long and then too short in alternating seasons… There’s only so much that regular guys are going to embrace in reality, so I know men’s fashion is never going to get too crazy – maybe it’s time to drop the concept of men’s haute couture? What do you think?
