Scott; I am so glad you did a post featuring the womens wear from the collection. Apparently the fact that there were so many female models on the catwalk was to highlight the fact that the soldiers that fought wars in tropical paradises relished pin-up girls and temptresses and oh what a stunning temptress Miuccia conjured up. The outfits were complex in their ideas but thoroughly amazing. above all; how good are the accessories, my girlfriend swooned when she set her eye on those bags!
Sorry to say I agree. Although I do really love the old Hawaiian prints, I don’t like these color combos, they are extremely hard to wear by 90% of the population!.. and those boxer style shoes? Really? They look awful with those dresses. I like some of the bags, they are the best thing about this collection.
I agree. I don’t like any of these dresses, the colors and prints look so unappealing. I should start designing clothes. It is so difficult to find clothes that I really like. I didn’t buy anything new this spring/summer because nothing out there interested me. Well, I did buy a pair of sneakers, but that’s it.
Ditto Emily’s comments about the models’ legs. It was the first thing that caught my eye, and I think it is great. I too wondered if it is partly the effect of the flat shoes with the bunched socks? Whatever the cause, I found it refreshing.
the comfortable thing about swaeters, t-shirts, a high neckline… + sneakers. all with the zeitgeist of the 40ies, its like woman after the war… going out without high heels and make up. for this dresses, it needs more soul and attitude! the dresses dont help you. maybe a lot of make up and red lips would have done a lot for the models, or a nicer and softer light. they look so tired.
I love the direction PRADA has taken in the last couple of seasons. The over done ‘sophisticated’ with the predictable red carpet dress is stale and tiring. I love how MP still has the gusto to challenge the establishment. Accessories of course are on point.
It has the 1940s look, pearl harbour prints.
Is it a post “war”(crisis) collection?
The combination of burgundy red and yellow is great! I love the colors, prints, textures, materials and shape of the dresses
Don’t like the shoes
Hmmmm, not sure yet. Sometimes it takes us mere mortals a while to get our heads around new looks. My eyes already like it, though. :-) Reminicent of Dries Van Noten’s pattern combinations of last year (or was it the year before). Love the shoes and the ‘freshness’ of it all. Ciao, Linda B
All the models don’t look good without makeup. They all look like they just got up. Not really sure about the shoes. This collection does not speak any sort of elegance to me. Some of it looks decent for a woman to knock around in though.
There seems to be a disconnect between the lavish decorations on the dresses and the models without makeup wearing shoes and socks that seem more attuned to sportswear. I think if the models were styled differently those dresses would be much more appealing. There is so much to love…the color and print combinations, the shape of the dresses, the fabric embellishment..Close, so close to something I could love.
