    May 22, 2013 at 10:40 am

Eww, really, this is not how we mexicans dress, I think there are a lot more elegant shots than this.

    • Alex

      May 25, 2013 at 1:29 am

Why do every Mexican has to represent what Mexico is, ought to or should be? You’re angry because she is not in Prada heels and someone else is angry because she is not sporting sandals and braids. The girl is representing herself, period.

  16. Elsy

    May 22, 2013 at 10:46 am

This is a horrible example of Mexico, this is not how we mexicans dress, I assure you that we have a lot more elegant people.

    Hate the dirty shoes.

      May 22, 2013 at 11:28 am

I think it’s very clear you haven’t understood the whole point of The Sartorialist pictures. What makes Scott’s pictures so beautiful are all of the details, what that person is trying to communicate through an outfit. This girl could go by unnoticed, but here, she has too much strength and everyone can see that.

      • Adrián GarcĂa

        May 22, 2013 at 12:17 pm

That is correct Charles, and this is a very good example of my appreciation of how MĂ©xico DF people drees like, not necessary elegant, but always strong, a reflection of the very Mexico City.

        May 23, 2013 at 5:20 pm

I totally agree! There are people who dess like living mannequins just like everywhere else but this shot (a great one) illustrates perfectly the innocence and fierce every Mexican has. The urban style with an autochthonous touch we Mexicans own. Thanks for the honor.

    • Lizzie

      May 22, 2013 at 11:44 am

Give me a break! You might be all about the shoes. However, this girl here has presence and substance (she is all kinds of perfect). I bet Scott would get this same photo whether she is sporting walk-all-over-the-DF shoes or red-soled high heels. Style comes from within.

    • Marieta A.

      May 25, 2013 at 6:38 pm

This girl is not representing us, plus this blog is a tribute to everyday lifestyle and street style which is so widely different depending on each individual. From previous photos that Scott has posted, I can say that what he seeks from each portrait is fierce, presence and people embracing their personal style.
She has a lot of that and looks super cute!

The only thing I like about her “style” is the expression on her face.

  50. Natali

Love this shot. The way she stands, force, attitude, and yes is a girly look. with the background…very urban.

  51. Fumi

    May 23, 2013 at 1:05 am

I bet she got wolf whistled. That skirt is short by DF standards. I remember walking around in hot weather and some people could still walk around in black turtlenecks and jeans.

I roasted just looking at them.

  52. Anya Unter

    May 23, 2013 at 3:07 am

I bet she’s the most popular kid at school.
She looks so tough and girly at the same time… what a mix.

I hope she holds on to both in equal parts as she gets older. Always sad to see strong young girls devolve into trend-chasing, indecisive women.

This chick knows exactly what she wants. Get it, girl.

I couldn’t disagree more with those that criticize her dirty shoes and simple look. First she’s a kid and kids get shoes dirty. Second she’s nobody’s mannequin – a diamond in the rough city streets. Kudos to Scott for getting at ground zero where even little girls manage stamp their own style with what’s at hand. Viva Mexico – a sad country right now but still with its small graces.

    • Martine

      June 2, 2013 at 11:06 pm

Shes not a kid. She is around nineteen to twenty two. And the shoes are not dirty. They just aren’t brand new. Lots of people who have plenty of cash like worn in stuff, myself included. How shallow. She looks excellent and needs no excuses. Also she looks sexy. She is not a sad country girl, she is hip and very well dressed. I especially love the low waist dress and the green lock of hair. That haircut is well cut and well styled. Love the green dyed lock of hair too. This is a young woman from a big city.

  58. Noemi

    May 24, 2013 at 12:03 pm

Really cute haircut and I love that green lock. But the way she’s dressed… no.

i’m so disapointed about your Mexico’s pics, such an amazing city full of interesting people, and you spent all your time in a gray design school. at least that’s what your pics show. hope you’ll came back soon and could see the real city.
