Tall socks are the one trend I wish would go away. I really hate seeing men walk down the street in gym shorts and tall socks. Any variation of the look just appears strange.

Noel, I assume you were referring to my comment…..
I used the word ‘wrong’ in an elastic sense.
Of course what may be ‘wrong’ for me may be very ‘right’ for someone else…. its all about how one feels in the garment. However that does not omit others from commenting on how they feel about it visually. The world you sarcastically described is not a place I would think the majority of people who visit this site would want to live…including me. There are no rules in mass…….only for the individual. don’t forget Noel, fashion is a language and how we choose and wear our attire speaks to the world somewhat of who we think we are and our place here……… some languages I just don’t understand or appreciate.

Those shoes, ugh. Almost like those pictures where one person draws one half, and the other draws another part unseen, and in this case it definitely doesn’t come together.

This shouldn’t work, but it does. I think the tube socks are a little thinner and finer that they typically are. That gives them a more refined look, and I think that’s why they don’t look bad. Wonder what she’s doing that she can dress like this.

Fantastic use of socks. Often they distract from summer outfits. Occasionally they have no effect. Rarely do they pull the whole outfit together. Not only do this pair accomplish that, they really make the shoes pop.

I love the shape of the boots. I’m sure they are made by a Parisian shoe company that you used to be able to buy in the UK years ago. I had a similar pair but a shoe rather than a boot. If anyone knows the name of the Company please tell?

this one is probably a trend that I will leave alone. I get that people are wearing these tube socks ironically….if tube socks can even BE ironic…..but I think that I would run the risk of looking like the lady in the cat sweatshirt who forgets to take the rollers out of her hair before she gets on the bus. Plus, I have existing photos of me wearing these things pulled-up to my knees with my bowl-shaped Dorothy Hamill haircut in the late 70s…sanding in front of a VW camper van. no less. Now THATS the real deal, people.

It likes the top half of her has good fashion sense, and the bottom half doesn’t. The dress is very pretty and feminine, but not only do the shoes and socks not look right with this outfit, they wouldn’t look right with any outfit.

I appreciation the intention of mixing it up – something I love to do myself – but I’m not digging the socks at all.
All you need to do is put on a pair in a bold colour, and slouch ‘em down.
The boots provide that “unexpected twist” element.

This is an outfit that could only be pulled off successfully by a thin woman of exactly this age, in an urban environment. With so many conditions, I don’t find it great fashion. Not a fan.

Not a good look. I like the juxtaposition of a delicate dress and chunky boots but the socks look awful and even worse being athletic socks with red and blue stripes. Yuck.

I like the guy’s shoes and the woman’s socks and that is about it. I would actually wear them together- with super short dark dark denims, a form fitting white or even red t-shirt, and tight high ponytail. Might be appropriate for taking the dog for a walk. Unfortunately in a couple of years I will be too old for this look in my own opinion. By then, I hope I find neverland!

No, no, no! Tube socks are for a 1970′s gym class. There is not one thing fashionable about wearing them, unless you consider just wearing ugly, unflattering clothes fashionable, which I’m afraid is the norm these days.
