I love everything. Strangely reminds me of Gwen Stefani and Scarlett Johansson. Not sure about the earrings though. The colour combination of her outfit against that grey steps is fantastic as well.
50 Shades of Excellence! What a totally New York photo. You continue to impress and outdo yourself.
An ode to your prowess; your forging ahead and not resting on the laurels of notoriety, award or previous accomplishment.
I agree with Irene (The Athenian) about the shades of gray and black in the photo. Along with the blue, they make the outfit complete and complex. I think intense blues and grays are an interesting color combination for the summer, and I find myself drawn to those colors right now. This is the opposite of “effortless” fashion, as another person noted, but, no matter. Sometimes “effort” is just what you need on a particular day. Great picture!
WOW! Unfortunatly this woman does not live in good ol Fort Worth,Texas,I would love to take her picture too. I disagree with R up above in comments, she doesn’t look forced to me at all. Beautiful. mr.john
I have an appalling internet connection and it took an eternity to download this picture. Usually I flip to another in impatience but I was determined to see this woman. And she was worth it. She is fabulous.
Oddly, I think her top half and her bottom half look as though they belong to two different people (in terms of colour).
Her skin is sublime and I wish she’d left her legs bare. That would be daring! Why is it that white legs are the hardest things to take out in public?
The girl and outfit are striking of course but I’ve got to say those earrings are amazing! … and if she put the sunglasses on too – a showstopper for sure. A sweet glimpse.
This totally made my night when I opened this site up when I found that Dirty Harry was the top entry! She is such a cool chick and one of my favourite musicians honestly and I’m surprised no one’s said anything about that.
Great shot, great lady but what’s with all these mobile ‘phones? The last 3 postings have all had women looking, talking, fiddling with them. Can’t they just be themselves in front of the camera?
Her skin is sublime and I wish she’d left her legs bare. That would be daring! Why is it that white legs are the hardest things to take out in public?
There’s a saying: There’s no ugly women, just lazy ones. I admire the fact that she clearly put in much effort, pride and thought into how she wanted to project herself that day, whether or not the look appealed to everyone.
Marilyn Monroe, Madonna and Betty Boop came up to my mind when I saw the image. She has amazing skin, hair and a body to die for…NY is full of stylish beauties.
In total awe of this hardass feminine vibe. It’s more than the way the outfit is put together and the meticulousness of her quaffed hair and snow-like skin … what I’m drawn to most is the attitude of this picture. It comes across so tough and self-assured but there’s also something soft and not at all aggressive about it. She’s great. Just love it.
Wow, what style! It’s amazing that this was an actual girl in her own life and not posed as a model. So glamorous. We should all put in such effort daily!
Wow, NYC is truly a stage. I think every young woman is hoping to have her day of fame on ‘the sartorialist’! You are inspiring fashion by being out there capturing it! Ga Ga
Someone remarks that it “Must take a lot of work to be her.” Not necessarily. A woman who does that all the time generally has it down to a science and can pull that together in a few minutes. Yes, looking good takes a bit of effort. Tragically, I see too many people who don’t bother at all – sweat pants, cargo shorts, t-shirts and flip-flops… c’mon people. It takes no more effort to put on something nice as it does to make yourself look like “hell.” Please – have a little pride when you step outside!
If anyone knows, what is the proper photography etiquette? I know it’s polite to ask a person before taking their picture, but must you always? I’m going to guess yes, especially if you’re posting their photo online. Right?
This style is sexy and cool. The white shirt is so cute. The gray skirt is sympol and cool. The shose is very showy. I like this. However I can not wear.Because I abash. I think that this style is not much me.
She is gorgeos and cool!!!!! I like this photo very much. Her shoes are so cute. It’s color is bright blue. Her tatoo is so cool. Her hair is wonderful. Red lipstick match her. I fell in love with this photo at first sight.
My favorite accessoryhere is the pale, pale skin. Very refreshing to see someone be natural and also it’s very pretty on her. This outfit would be cartoonish outside of NYC, but it’s perfect there.
No kidding, I got off the R train behind this girl in this outfit last Thursday and I thought she looked exactly like the type of person one sees on the Sartorialist. By the way she was carrying herself and posing, I guess she felt that way too (and was right).
Other than those oversized earrings and that hideous tattoo on her chest, this is phenomenal. An attractive, in-shape woman wearing stockings is a winning combination and more American women need to figure this out. Phenomenal. I’d love to take her inside.
She’s a daredevil when it comes to her own style, she’s unique and she is not afraid to show it.
But I think it’s a pity that she’s wearing those huge earrings and the burburry printed bag. Great picture though.
Am I the only one who thinks there is just too much going on here? I mean, the bright blue six inch heels, the black stockings in the summertime, the overly done hair, the chest tattoo. Oy! Give me some simplicity any day.
Awesome look! A look I will never capture I think , deifintelly not here in the Netherlands. But when I see such a look I’ll try to capture it fir my blog too and will definitelly remind me of this photograph. http://theviewfinder.nl

Wow, NYC is truly a stage. I think every young woman is hoping to have her day of fame on ‘the sartorialist’! You are inspiring fashion by being out there capturing it! Ga Ga

At first glance, I feel she is channeling Marilyn Monroe and then I looked more closely and imagine this is Mary Antoinette.

The opposite of effortless indeed. Those LEGS!
If anyone knows, what is the proper photography etiquette? I know it’s polite to ask a person before taking their picture, but must you always? I’m going to guess yes, especially if you’re posting their photo online. Right?
