I wear these for art projects my self and they are comfortable and stylish. Suits like this allow artists to display their work and style without having to do anything because their outfit IS their canvas.
It’s funny how people comment on her “great style” when I see this photo more of an observation on how a utilitarian outfit can be captured to portray an interesting and unintentional look.
She is either an artist or painter for practical reasons, like walls, furniture, or theatre sets – who knows. The jumpsuit is a painter’s suit, and the shoes are for comfort and practicality. If you describe this look, it doesn’t sound special, but when it’s captured like this – totally random, candid, and natural – you see something interesting about it.
These kinds of photos are some of my favourites because they cause you to think. While I do love the shots at fashion shows – just to appreciate design and style – those people are die-hard fashionista types who dress to be shot by bloggers. This woman clearly did not, and there is something special about that.
In regards to this women “clearly” not dressing to be blogged, am I the only one who wonders how the hands and hair and shoes are so clean in comparison to the layers of paint splatter and smear on the coveralls? As someone who has her own craft/art, I can guarantee that if she in fact painted whilst wearing this getup, the paint would have flecked elsewhere. There isn’t a day I leave the studio without tell-tale signs no matter how careful I’ve been. Even if she hasn’t painted yet for the day, those shoes would show a history of being a designated painting pair. I hope that these are newly transitioned paint shoes, and she isn’t a poseur because that would be truly disheartening.
Wow, this woman is really good at pulling that off. As cool and tuff as she looks in it, I think certain people have to have the right qualities to pull something this neat and different off. Like confidence, and self respect. See how confident that woman looks? Its really stylish the way she wears something so…un-stylish, and pulls it off perfectly! A++ She kinda remind me of Sarah Connor off of The Terminator 2: Judgement Day (1991). (Also, an applause to the person who mentioned Rosie the Riveter.) Great blog! Sweetest styles!
It’s clear that this chick is cool, and clearly she didn’t dress to make a fashion statement, this is who she is, a painter of some sort taking a break, she can be commended for her image and Scot should be commended for a good picture.
Luv, Luv, Luv! This is the epitome of cool. I love Valentino, Tom Ford and just sick, high glamour, but this is true glamour. You get up, go to work, buy a coffee just to get out of the studio to take a break, and you look like this. Thanks again, Sartorialist.
