Those guys are simply HORRIBLE!!! There is NO cool here! In Italy we use to call these people "tamarri" something like boor, rustic, cheap in english. I hate the middle plastic jacket, it seems a garbage bag; I don't wanna talk about the rings and the "leather" jacket of the left one (you can see this kind of jacket in every poor shop in Italy, I hate it); well, let me talk 'bout the guy on the right… oh god, he is really superfluous: why he is here? I hate when a foreigner says "Italy is a fashion country" and is shown people like those three. But especially why they have the look of some suburb drug dealer?!?! Sorry for my english.
The guy on the left made me a do double flip!! HOTNESS OVERLOAD!! His outfit is so cool and rock inspired. The guy in the middle looks a bit weird. Maybe it's his shirt…The last guy has a cool hat but a long shirt too. But they really look like an up and coming boy band!
I like seeing the different perspective of Milan. Previous photos makes EVERYONE in Milan look like they have the same sortof style – beautiful of course – but still same same same. These boys look interesting.
The extra long shirt with the short jacket is not a good look for men or women. It looks sloppy, just like the t-shirt with text. The photo itself looks great, hurrah for b&w, but if it was shot in color, I suspect far fewer people would claim these men to be stylish.
curiosity if someone can answer this. Given Italy's economic situation, and the unemployment rate….how do these lovely stylish citizens maintain their wardrobe? I've had conversations with Italians incl Milanese and didn't really inquire. Thank you to anyone who may answer. I hope this question does not offend, it is not intended to. I love the Italian sprezzatura.
That's the only thing I miss from Italy (I'm italian living in London)… guys with attitude that actually have a sense of style (even if I don't like this style, I'm a casual-elegant fan), that look like MEN and not like skinny things, unchbacked, that don't even know what the word attitude means….
and to the italian girl if she reads: yes, those are tamarri and I would never look at them in a positive way but hei, I have been away for years now and no way I can find a man that has some attitude, some masculinity as the Italians… these guys look cheap and wannabe-alternative.. but still are way better than the english skinny guys (no offence!) excellent pic!
It's very simple. Those are not expensive clothes,it's very easy to find loads of people dressed like that here…I mean,it's not like italian clothes are all armani or dolce&gabbana…but if you think that's stylish, that means it's just normal for Italians to be stylish in that way :) also,we're not that poor,we can mantain our wardrobe…………… (what's "sprezzatura"? :D) Hope you understood :) Lau
Great black and white photo! Without the distraction of color, the textures of the jackets (especially the middle one) really pop. I also like the blurred background, it puts total focus on theose three gorgeous Italian guys. The middle one (I'm half Italian) looks like my son. I am also a fan of short hair on guys with great facial bone structure.
ahahah 2 of them are friends of mine Unbelievable they're here, shot by my idol SCHUMAN ..was like "freezed by surprise" lookin at this today – ahah THANK U SCOTT
*LAST BUT NOT LEAST*
For those saying they're TAMARRI..
It's easy to understand you are just O U T S I D E fashion system. And i'm not trying to defense them because of friendship. I only say they've got Specific personalitystyle, and that's why they like to dress like this. Why Tamarro? Maybe you should know that True style is not BRAND WITH CAPITAL LETTERS. Style is Personality And in this picture you can see it as clear as WATER
If u can't get this ..it's not your fault Keep pushing stylish dudes!
Well, okay disdainful Italians, send your bad boys and your dreaded tamarri over to us here in the United States of Trashy. I'm sure we'll think of SOME use for them. (I've got quite the list going already.)
Hilarious! Personally the guy on the left cracks me up and the guy in the middle is just a hopped-up football hooligan. Not what I'd expect from mr Schuman, but on the other hand, that's why it's actually a great Sartorialist photo.
This is exactly the kind of Italian style that I hate. They are like copycats, you can see at least 20 guys exactly like these if you spend just a couple of hours in any Italian city center in a Saturday afternoon. I am Italian and had my eyes full of these boring people for 25 years, I am so glad that now I see them just once every two months when I go there to see my parents.
The shot is good as always though :p I don't like the style, but I like the "composition" and the mood you put together.
OMG – hot, hot, hot. The last time I was in Milano I was struck by how incredibly good looking EVERYONE seemed to be…very odd and amazing at the same time. This shot brings back those memories…gorgeous.
