As an American woman with a Vespa, I’m dying to know how these Italian women ride scooters in flimsy dresses carrying handbags without the dress flying up and the purse falling down. Is this something that can be taught to us Yanks? ‘Cause I would love to ride my Vespa to work on the days I’m wearing a dress without worrying about flashing the world.

This is perfect example of an everyday Italian woman. What a balance between the heels and printed dress.. and the moto! The dress is nearly demure, but the first photo turns it to an almost vulgar look, in a great way.

Daring and sexy. A hitched up hemline can look so tacky but here it’s pretty va-va-voom. It has a lot to do with her quiet confidence and “yeah, whatever” (in a good way) air.

I love this! I’m always amazed at the Italian women with heels as they ride their scooter. In my opinion, it’s an even bigger feat to see a woman in 5 inch heels dismount from the back of a scooter. I love her outfit from head to foot – the heels, her sexy legs, the color and print of her dress, the bag..she’s just fabulous all over!

This makes for a great image but really, I think it would be uncomfortable to travel this way when you’re dressed this nicely. I mean, its a bit of a hazard to make a sharp turn and have the purse slide down your arm no?
I don’t know, part of me loves it and part of me would rather take a cab that day…

This is part of why I love Italy. While walking around Rome and Padua I’d see men in slick Valentino suits and un-self conscious women in elegant Prada outfits riding around on their Vespas.
And they have great Gelatos.

Totally love this shot. I really appreciate every outfit that’s REAL, not planned for red carpet, or special event, or photoshoot. It’s why I don’t love very much the outfitblog and the outfit blogger: I want to see something I could wear in my everyday life, and being comfortable in.
But, it’s totally real that italian girls ride bicycle and scooter with high heels, me the first, ah ah ah!

The Italians continue to export the notion that at all times they must appear exceptionally well-dressed – its in their DNA. This outfit is not functional, just like their cars, but in terms of aesthetics we again have to admire the Italians.

WHAT a great picture! makes me nostalgic for my 20s, living in Rome riding my Boxer to work and trying to keep the skirt tucked. (not at all hard until you stop and need to use a leg to kickstand!) She’s riding a new model Scarabeo. I’d love to know where to find that darling dress!!
