On the Street…..Via Indipendenza, Bologna

It’s refreshing to see a summer dress paired with a lightly-colored chukka boot instead of the super heavy looking and pretty cliché Doc Martens.

Love this. The crushed fabric of the dress is so light and relaxed, and I love the colours.

    Such a dreamy look!

You’re so right about Dr Martens, they’re so heavy and I’ve never understood why some girls wear them in summer, most of all with frocks.

Docs are very comfortable to walk in, surprisingly. And I think they look good to toughen up a too precious dress. But the desert boots are great too. I don’t think it would have looked bad with Docs though.

        Agree 100% Martine
Also, gotta wear Docs to know the feel, the ultimate in workman’s comfort.

What I like most in this picture is the blending of soft tones from the young lady’s with the background : pale greys, blues, pink and the blur on the left. Brillant.

I don’t know, I’ve never liked the “boots with summer dress” look. Don’t your feet get hot? I much prefer sandals.

Pairing boots – of any kind – with a diaphanous dress seems like an odd choice. Not terribly attractive.

There’s a line in a novel by Ellen Gilchrist about women who dress like nobody owns them, except themselves. (I’m paraphrasing, but the meaning is right.) That’s how this young woman looks to me. And the colors are wonderful.

I like the look too, but must completely (though respectfully) disagree with the caption. Docs are never a cliche. Unfortunately trendy at the moment, perhaps, but they’re classic, not a cliche. And floaty dresses are always better with boots–in most cases, the heavier the boots, the better the look! (I’d happily pair that dress with a pair of Carolina engineer harness boots…)

Wonderful palette and great look. I could personally never wear anything but sandals in a Bologna summer but this girl looks great. She knows what suits her and she doesn’t over-think it.

Those schoes are as normal and old-school as the Docs. Just more of the same. In Holland we see them more than the DocMartens. Just the last years they started making them for women. Clarcks makes them in shocking pink ;-)

When I scrolled down I was actually suprised to see her wearing shoes… I half expected her to be standing in a sea shell like Botticelli’s Birth of Venus. Kowabunga! She’s a hottie.

This look is very fitting on her. She wears this outfit very well, especially the colors. They play nicely off of her skin and surprisingly – even the the weather! : ) Great photography work too. (Thumbs Up!)
