First of all, it looks like a fascinating conversation and I’m dying to know what they’re talking about. Secondly, these ridiculous platform shoes are so cool, especially worn with the improbably socks. Oh and all the rings she’s wearing. Lots of amazing little things to look at.
Me too…the captured gesture of the girl on the left and the other young lady’s engrossed reaction draws us into their conversation… a neutered voyuerism, so to speak, on our part.
I love their willowy hair.
Socks and sandals, however, is a very Chinese look to me. It’s all about warm feet being the source of health. From a fashion point of view – questionable, or at least not my thing.
This is an amazing shot – captures the fashion but at the same time the seeming depth of their conversation. Fashion in humanized form lol Love the printed shirt on the other girl too.
Yeeeah, those socks do not look comfortable if she’s scratching her feet. Not sure I see the point in wearing socks if they’re almost skin tone. Why not just go bear than and save yourself from icky sweating.
Florence is our shangri-la…the place to which we always return. And the place that exudes a kind of beauty and decay and honesty which I have rarely seen – this is in the architecture, the fashion and the relationships between people. I also live in NY and some of that can be seen here, but it seems a bit more postured in NY. I previously lived in Charleston, South Carolina. It exists there too in a very old American kind of way, but it is palatable. Florence is the standard bearer for all because men and women of ALL ages care about fashion in Firenze.
One of the only acceptable pairings of socks and sandals I have ever seen. I wonder if she could pull socks with a color not so similar to her skin tone though? Maybe a crimson or a brighter yellow?
It’s funny, I’m a shoe fanatic and the first thing I noticed was not the pair of shoes on both of these women or the clothes they have on, but the platform tattoo. The shoe illustration itself depicts the woman more than her clothes.
She decided to have a commitment to wear it everyday.
It must have a reason.
There’s a lot of great stuff here. The lady on the left is distracting me with her tattoos and beautifully tanned muscular arm. And the platform shoes are amazing. And the lady on the right has a stunning face. And just wow at the whole photo, really….
N´est pas Mademoiselle “x” de Juillet 11, 2012 a Florence, des grands sweaters, tatooes et jolies jambes? Ouiii! Tres 80´s les sandals et chausettes, je l´aime beaucoup…
I’m sick of tattoos. I never found them aesthetically pleasing mind you, but now even the curiosity is gone. In this case, they are clearly distracting to an otherwise exquisite arm.
I like the girl on the right : her shirt dress and even the platforms/socks combination but overall, I like the closeness between two friends nicely captured on this photo.
What I really dislike is, again, sitting on the ground covered with dirt and cigarette butts. Am I the only one to notice it ?
I love these awful socks which, in fact, are so cool! And I love her rings, of course. And I also love the way she cross her legs (really strange, isn’t it?). Finally: I love your picture!
I’ve been following your photos, well… forever. I’ve never commented, but had to with this shot. I love it’s perfection… the steps, the backdrop, the angles, the pipes – then of course the two friends just chilling. It’s so very, very cool in every way! Thank you.
The only time I can tolerate socks with sandals is when the socks are a different color, come much higher than that on the leg, and are worn with high-heel sandals not a horizontal platform. Different/thinner material would also be good. This look is disturbingly odd. especially since both the platform and the socks are skin-tone. Plus, the sandals strap around the ankle and the socks rise around the same point. Just a big NO! Also the other lady looks a bit more mature for the style of her shoes. They would look more appropriate on a much younger girl in my opinion.
Just goes to show, once again, how opinions differ! Love the picture, but both the flatform shoes and the socks worn with them are horrid!
I wonder what the comments would be if the woman wearing those shoes with those socks was not young and attractive…I can assure you they would not be so positive!
I love the photos you take of people sitting on stairways. This one reminds me a little bit of the one with the ladies changing from flats to heels. I also love the iron pipe and railing. Beautiful photo.
Haven’t commented in a long time, but these women are compelling to me in their dramatic contrasts and similarities. I appreciate how one is so tanned and the other so pale, and they both seem completely relaxed and comfortable in their skins. Be what you are, it’s okay, they seem to say. Also, the simple makeup (from what I can see) and austere color palette they share are balanced by the details — the interesting pattern on the pale woman’s dress, her beautiful and graceful hands and wrists with their ornaments, and the other woman’s intricate tattoos, shades and quilted bag. The sturdy, more practical-than-most fashiony shoes of both women give a grounding effect to the feminine but relaxed silhouettes of their clothing. They both look strong, capable and intriguing to me. I wouldn’t be able to pull off either of their styles, exactly, but I admire their confidence and ease with themselves and each other.
