The Lower East Side and especially Tompkins Square Park has been on fire lately. Such a great variety of style is blooming in the park right now.
This is Claire. She is wearing a hand-me-down dress from her mother. I love the wispy little summer dresses that are starting to appear but a more tailored, shaped dress like this is sooo flattering. To me this is vintage at its best; it draws inspiration from the past without feeling “costumey.”
Tonight you will see a photo of 87 year-old artist KC Rowland; he’s like the orignal Prada. Tweed hat, tortoise glasses, snake ring, Cuban shirt and leather sandals with socks. He’s a true original.

I really like this picture.
it's obvious she's in on it, so I want to ask a question.
When meeting people that you want a picture of, how do you approach them? How do you ask them to participate in your picture?`
Thanks for all the inspiration!

The great thing about vintage is indeed being able to use great designs from the past, those seem to be timeless (within reasons!)
I get compliments very regularly on my 1970s-1980s & 1990s Lanvin suits! I could probably wear them forever.
Shapely summer dresses are nice too. I like shape; clean shapes.

She looks so polished and neat. I have to agree, clothes my mother used to wear at my age were more tailored and put together. It seems that the mass production of clothes have left very little time for all these important details!

Now that's style–the dress seems to suit her perfectly–but what I find most intriguing here is her expression. You must have a terrific rapport with your subjects; she looks shy, but also delighted and proud to be photographed. The resulting image is just lovely.
