I like the composition. Everyone but the subject looking away, with a hand focusing/blocking the sun’s rays. What are the general settings, lens, etc., you use when taking these shots? Do you run it through PS in post or put them up right after you shoot them?
things i love in this photo: the unfinished hem and translucency of her skirt; the position of her left hand; the expression on her face; her ENORMOUS bag; the lady in red in front of her; the man in blue behind her; the fact that everyone’s face is obscured except our subject; the mysterious marks on her left calf; the light. well done!
Perhaps she uses this “mirror” (I think it looks more like a magnifying glass) to read tiny printed newspapers or books. Or maybe she just wants to stare at a distorted version of herself every now and then…
I don’t understand how Scott always captures these amazing compositions of people all interesting together. I never see shots like that when i walk around. Of course I don’t take photos…but still I have eyes.
This is a perfect example of a very simple concept: you can find poetry and beauty everywhere, if you want, on the urban street too; just if you have a special sensibility to see them. Good work, Scott!
