On the Street…..The Strand, London

Remember that book I posted about a while ago called Emergence: Cynthia MacAdams?  When I saw this young lady in London with her curled-out hair, mesh top and suede booties, I knew the final image had to be in black & white as an homage to her super cool images of 40 years ago.

Love her curls. When I was younger I always wished that my hair was curly.
There are so many girls with beautiful curly locks but they are always straightening them. They shouldn’t. I love how this girl is embracing her girls!

Agreed! When I was little I was always wishing for curly hair, when it became curly I straightened it! (Every day for 2 years!) Over more recent years I have finally learnt to embrace my natural beauty!
Great shot though! Love that it is in black and white.

Definitely 70′s….reminds me of Janis Ian. And that mesh top was made for b/w photography.

Actually makes me wish my hair was curly. There is really nothing quite like wild hair and a bit of lipstick.

Wow! She looks amazing. Wonderful tension between dramatic elements (the curls, the mesh) and minimalism (simple t-shirt cut for the mesh, clean-lined, classic shoes & jeans) = super-cool vibe.

I love the mesh/crochet trends I am seeing everywhere this Spring in NYC. It’s sexy, yet leaves a little to the imagination. It is also a great way to layer and add texture.

  50. Zenobiar

    April 27, 2013 at 8:40 pm

Yes the hair and mesh and b/w are great. But the best thing is her solution to the booties/cropped pants/socks(less) dilemma. My hair’s not that curly (except in Key West), my body ‘s not mesh-able, but I can use the footwear look.

I’ve always wanted to rock a mesh shirt. But I always thought it would be too racy. She looks fab, so I’m going to have to try it out sometime!
