The blueish tint of the black fabrics, the multiple greys, the splash of colour in the green and orange leaves on the ground and her luminous skin colour makes this photo a real treat.
She looks great. Women in menswear or androgynous attire never gets old to me, no matter how many times I see it on the sartorialist or on the street. It always looks so classic.
She took a boring concept and made it look cool. Plain menswear, black & grays, no makeup… I love the contrast of the baggy pants & fitted pea coat Great pic. Wish I could see more of the bag.
Hmmm … She has a chic Charlie Chaplin feel to the style … That's a conflicting one for me, I don't entirely like it, but there is something captivating about it … Great shot!
i will second photodiarist' comment, sick proportions. It like annie hall met with rae kawakubo and had a lovechild. and that hat, ummmmmm-azing! but whatt makes me happy is her socks. mid length socks always put a smile on my face. =)
i recently got a brown pair of shoes very similar to these. I've found they are too masculine to wear with most of my pants, and I was having a hard time figuring out how to wear them and still look feminine. this is exactly what i needed! now for the rest of the outfit.
Hi Scott, I just finished a story on coats and came across your wonderful photos via Art of the Trench. I am thrilled to find your fascinating blog and your book. I know it will be a welcomed addition to the post. I look forward to visiting often, your story, photos and style are very inspiring. All the best, Lisa Porter
she is sooo beautiful!! love the etnic diversity on this site! Love seeing all people of every race, religion, culture, expressing their style in every possible way!
Am I the only one who's getting a little sick of this androgynous look by now? It feels a tad hackneyed, as if every cool girl who wants to be really modern just tosses on some oversized men's wear and calls it quits. I like it better when it's well and originally mixed with more feminine or unexpected pieces, at least, just for a little variety on the tired, too-literal "boyfriend" trend.
No, Ami, no! I appreciate these androgynous looks very much. What I like most about them is that many of the women wearing this style seem so serene and in their own spaces. I love it.
It also does not seem as if any of them – at least on this blog – have "tossed" on anything. They occupy. I want more.
I know this is all about the 'Clothes' – but her face says so much more, her personality lies there. Look at those piercing eyes! Ah, I adore her expression – it's as if she's slightly taken a back, but is welcoming the photographer. Love the Hat, too.
Late to the party. Similar to the brown jacket/skirt pic. This one's about personal style/silhouette. I would wear long pants with the brogues or longer pants with a heel, but this look from top to bottom totally works for her. Adorable.
