You can always recognise French women (as opposed to American/Latino etc women) by their hair. Itswonderfully understated.
I noticed this during my first years in France. Coming from ‘hot-weather’ culture where the hair is always coiffed & the nails are always done (and i always felt like the scrawny neighborhood tomboy)..this was a refreshing change when i got to france.
The biggest example of this I used to demonstrate to people is the Oscars vs. the Cesar Awards. At the Oscars its almost normal to look like a siliconized barbie doll. Where the Cesars look way more like “real” people got dressed.
This looks effortless b/c she made no effort! I like the purse, the shoes are chic, but the pants, hair and top are messy and meh. On the other hand, the photo is cool! The horizontal lines of the steps vs. the verticality of the figure and the columns in the background really work.
i am here because i’m absolutely keen to see whats going on in new york. there must be such a circus, thousands of fancy dressed people running around! id love to be there.
i must say i am disappointed of what i see here. maybe i’m too dumb to understand this. the understatement of french women, that A described, seems the only interesting thing about this picture. okay, maybe youre right, thats enough reason to upload it. its interesting, though the look itself seems not inspiring to me.
thank you for your subtle observations.
The French certainly know a thing or two about style! This capture is the epitome of their talent. The fringed whip-stitched saddle bag, the endless strapped leather heels, and casual attire all make such a chic combination.
a nice angle for a shot of someone on her phone — also liking how her hair looks a bit like the fringes of her bag which look a bit like the leather strips in the shoes. love the motif and the harmony.
When I saw this photo the first thing I loved was her black shirt top. I love simple clothing and the fact that she chose this to wear shows how confident she is in her style. She knows what works and doesn’t have to prove anything.
Wouldn’t want to take credit for this fabulous look but French girls rock loool Love it, love the Isabelle Marant, the Vanessa Bruno, the Jerome Dreyfuss they all are sooo talented. I hope living in Paris give me one inch of their style! Thank you for this wonderful blog you are inspiring!

Sexy and relaxed. Nice. Its still too hot here for jeans. So unfair. Its a great talent to wear great heels, great bag, and nothing overpowers her figure, her features and her hair. Just right like little bears porridge! See…Im going nuts.
