Beautiful style. I am finding these “unsexy” – covered, intelligent styles you have been capturing lately so appealing. One doesn’t focus on the clothes but the interesting person wearing them. You wonder about what wonderful book is hidden in the beautiful bag.
there’s always something beautiful in the unexpected. before finally scrolling down the picture to her feet, i didn’t expect that she’d be sporting that kind of footwear.
i think she still really looked good, probably styling quirky without much thought. the colors look very beautiful on her too.
She is so stylist without even trying. I like when you capture regular people instead of models or people who work in the fashion industries who are already stylist because they work in that kind of environment.
I love the way she paired chunky boots and oversize bag
As I scrolled down, I stopped at the bottom of her coat and paused. She looked like anyone I would meet at Safeway here. Then I realized that what really made the look was the crisp black skirt. Funny, not what I would have done, but it works.
Have just bought my first pair of Kickers (that’s what she’s wearing!) in navy blue and this pic has given me another insight as to how to wear them! I love me some masculine boots!! Awesome
x Alison
That’s the only way to do curly bangs. You go, girl! Love from one curlyhead to another.
Also, why isn’t anyone discussing the gorgeous pleating on that skirt! They’re what makes the outfit work so well, in my opinion.
I’m in love with the way these boots were paired with this dress. I got them as a Christmas present from my boyfriend (who i’m told you recently photographed in Italy ha) and they have been incorporated into almost every outfit. Will be trying this for sure though..
I admire her courage but it is too much. too bulky and makes he look like a toddler. The boots are a hard sell on men as much as I love Red Wings – that butterscotch color when new is cheesy looking.
I used to wear these construction boots in 8th and 9th grade…with levis..501′s with a pullover hoodie…never with a skirt but it seems to work doesn’t it? Was 1974/75
All these comments are so astute, and yet each commenter reflects such a completely different take on this woman’s look … so many worlds are colliding in this woman’s ensemble!
I echo some of the comments that her hair makes (saves?) the look. Her hair keeps the outfit-get-up feminine , sexy, and buoyant. It’s a nice counterweight to her clothes, which seem to be heavy and hanging down, down, down.
While each piece is lovely on it’s own, thrown together this way screams “homeless lady chic” to me.
The saving grace here (at least for me), is the hair.

I must admit this look confuses me a bit.
It’s ’80s, but then no, its’ fresh but then reminds me of the slouchy ’80s.
The hair I love, the bag not really, the oversied coat yes, the shoes not in this context, so am a bit buffled really.
