haha ok james dean maybe and i see the 90210 but for some reason my first thought was vanilla ice! but this guy definitely rocks it better. i feel like i’m not supposed to be liking this but instead i love it!
So printing this picture out and taking it to my stylist. I’m not normally fond of using product, but if I could get my short ‘do in that kind of coiff, even for a day, I’ll helmet my hair in hairspray!
Like everyone says, definitely channeling my fave, Morrissey. Though hopefully he’s not gay, because I NEED to marry this man. I just wish he weren’t holding that cig. Nasty habit, icky breath.
Viva Morrissey!! Actually, the clothes don’t look Mozzy to me at all…and I like the look but it’s a tad too derivative for me…only a tad. The blue socks are exciting and the grey jacket is lovely. The Dean & Delucca bag is a nice touch. *sighs* Morrissey. I like this guy, he’s very playful and very serious at the same time. But I will say…could use a different shoe.
awesome. that kind of haircut is always so full of energy, and totally cool and refined because of the smooth shapes. Also, this man totally looks like justin timberlake+adam levine.
morrisey was the first thought that jumped into my head. great shot! I love that he doesn’t look “rockabilly” or like a straight up knock off of Moz…and the jeans are sweet!
The socks kinda throw me off, but the rest of his outfit… gorgeous. And indeed his hair… fantastic. The socks might grow on me a bit though, they’re quirky :) Besides the excellent choice of subject, the photo itself is pretty wicked too. Gorgeous light and perfect amount of DOF. Really still enjoying and drawing inspiration from this blog.
u captured him in the perfect lighting. it makes him glow… this is an amazing photo sartorialist!!! i’m sure it helps to have amazing looking subjects…regardless…GREAT PHOTOS! i still am eternally grateful for the inspiration i steal from your blog everyday!
He walked straight out of my dreams. He looks AMAZING. I love the V-neck and how he subtly layers all the other items on top of it. And the touch of color from the socks with the cuffed jeans… gosh, who is he?!
Is it just me or isn’t it the grey leather jacket from the Dior Homme S/S 06? – I also do believe that the jeans are the raw ones with the 19cm hem. but maybe I’m wrong.
He is chillin like a villain, as if everyday was like Sunday.
The hair history goes like this. Valentino – chicano 50′s style – greaser – early Robert Mitchum – J. Dean – the king – bobby fuller 4 (this list of guys have all fought the man style laws and won)- bronx italians – even straightened early 60′s black RNB acts eg. wilson pickett – falls apart during hippiedom – resurfaces in 80′s new york proto punk with more of a miltary vibe – morrissey – Suede – NKOTB – gay porn? and the recent revival of the Smiths interest.
hmmmm…grey leather, hint of plaid, slight rockabilly resemblance (see “raggare”), hint of bright color found in unassuming clothing item, the jeans…he’s probaly scandinavian
it’s so refreshing not to see a shaved chest. he’s bridging the gap between high-school rebel and middle aged urban artist. i wonder if some more facial hair finish it off. the layering is careless and beautiful, with the frayed cuffs under the jacket.
there’s that exciting blue hue again. i have a shirt that color that i love to layer and let peek out. until the more recent trends of vivid blue, really saturated blue-black, and very neutral gray blues, i wasn’t much a fan of blue- kind of ho hum and over used. now it’s been recycled afresh, which is great since it brings out my eyes.
Vintage looking hair is so amazing. I think everyone is over the standard side part/bangs thing by now, right?? I am, but I’ve been wondering what to do with my hair for some time.
Problem solved!
Thank you beautiful boy who also happens to be wearing my favorite american apparel t shirt. Ah..I wish I could still reap the benefits of an employee discount.
You know, I see a person like that and I just want to know who they are and what they do, because there is so much personality there it’s amazing. Wonderful shot.
Quite a fe design cues here, both major and minor. I guess to be really James Deanian he’d need the famous bright red jacket. He certainly touches 3 Sart fashion “musts” the scarf, the quirky socks and (political correctness alert) the cigarette. Oh Sart, by the way, James Dean, another Indiana-bred culture and style icon.
love his eyes, which are beautifully accented by his bright blue socks!
the various snippets of color intermingled with that sludgy gray shade gives me the sensation of watching one of my many favorite movies, Pleasantville.
More like “that bone structure!” Stunningly handsome looks that are perfectly off-set by his trendy, yet still casual ensemble. It’s like New York meets Norway. And you gotta love the not so subtle peak of chest hair, perfectly illuminated by the mid-day sun. ;) Another great shot, Sart!
he’d look cooler if he slept on it – then wandered outdoors with it kept it more gene vincent, less 90s teen drama i have seen japanese morrisseys at gigs with quiffs over a foot and a half, bouncing around…classic
“90210″? are you serious … this look is as far from that show or characters in that show …
The person who said he needs to wash his slip-ons … NO! The worst possible thing is to run around town with pearly white converse, vans etc … no self respecting downtowner would ever have perfect white footwear … against east village/l.e.s laws!
A brilliant confection of a haircut, like a mr whippy ice cream. Looks a bit like Hamburg era pre fame Beatles, before Stuart Sutcliffe died. You kind of feel he should be wearing motorcycle or chelsea boots, but somehow it seems more authentic, like he almost has the whole outfit but is still saving up for the boots.
Jesus Christ. Of course he’s taken. He could be dating Gisele and he’d still be more beautiful. The bright blue socks somehow bring out his eyes, the ragged shirts balance out his perfect hair, the plaid gives it a rockabilly vibe, the leather gives it a James Dean vibe, and his bone structure and cool gaze are orgasmic. Simply put.
I just hope his personality can live up to it. It sure would be tough to be so damn beautiful.
How funny – guess it’s ’cause I’m from the West Coast – my first thought was definitely Chris Isaak, not Morrissey. And those who know know that Chris Isaak is a style god. Too too bad about this guy’s cigarette, though. And the shoes. Boots, def.
the point really is: whereas the chest might have seemed grossly unkempt on another kind of guy, on him it works, AND HE KNOW IT. that’s the essence of a cool chic singular sartorialisto – knowing what works for you and going there.
Sart spare us at least some of the repetitive comments; OK girls we love the socks and maybe him too but give a little more thought to it; you’re failing the class.
I’ve already commented this picture once. But when I look at it again I feel like “URGH” he’s just like such a wannabee, very irritating to look at! Well, okay, I like the face but hey, what’s up with the shoes?! THEY ARE RUINING IT ALL!!! Why would u wear slip ons for that outfit?! That so NOT rock’n'roll, eventhough I like the socks! He’s looking a bit too cheap for my taste.
No, not James Dean but he pulls off a cool look. The outfit is very street but the hair makes it. Great hair and a very relaxed cool. Not everyone could make this work. This guy does it.
Being a hair stylist at Bumble & Bumble explains the hair. But the insouciant, rebellious, funny and goddamn sexy vibe remains a mystery. Rockstars aside, he’s an original. Oh, how I love him!
i thought of morrisey right away. i love everything about this look, especially the sneaks, because it makes him look like he’s not trying so hard (even though we all know it took him ages to get his hair like that). now i have to listen to “how soon is now”. sigh…

He’s got as much hair under his shirt as he does on top of his head. I wonder if its display is part of the look?

It’s so obvious he’s channeling Morten Harket channeling James Dean.

A fine looking young man with superb style…well done! Makes me swoon!
p.s. and yes, I say more reminiscent of Moz over James Dean/90210…you kids best put down that Panic at The Disco record, and put on The Smiths! DANG.

The guy isnt fugly, but you guys are overrating him severly. James Dean? Oh PUHLEASE!! Even Brad Pitt isnt fit to step in James Dean’s shoes.
If hes so good looking, who has he modeled for? Probably just works the cash register at some clothing store- hence the nice clothing

Oh, how I love him!

i thought of morrisey right away. i love everything about this look, especially the sneaks, because it makes him look like he’s not trying so hard (even though we all know it took him ages to get his hair like that). now i have to listen to “how soon is now”. sigh…
